I definitely made the right decision in enrolling for the ‘Personal Styling Advanced Diploma’.
I personally found the week in London, followed by the ‘Start & Grow’ sessions brilliant! The best option for me!
The week in London gave me practical (in person) training with likeminded people.
It was extremely beneficial training with other people, having the ability to share experiences and different ideas.
Wendy and Dan are SO personable and supportive, they totally understand the process of starting your own business, and the thoughts and feelings encountered throughout the journey.
The input from other tutors in London for sessions on Colour Analysis, Lingerie, Personal Shopping & Wardrobe Edit was fun, interesting and informative.
The practical styling was great, the week was delivered in a relaxed and informal setting.
I was very fortunate to have a great group of people on my course, which made it fun and interactive.
If you are looking for a Styling course, in my opinion this course was brilliant - it exceeded all my expectations!
My only regret was not signing up for it earlier!
I now have all the tools, motivation, encouragement, support network and self belief to get going.
The ‘Start & Grow’ session online (after the week in London) provided me with so much useful advice & information, plus all sessions are recorded for you to re-watch.
This course covers a lot around building your brand aligned to your personality and managing your mindset.
These sessions provided me with the confidence and self belief in my ability.
The input from stylists (currently working in the business) was extremely valuable.
If this is a subject you feel passionate about and wish to pursue, and like me you haven’t taken action soon enough, - don’t hesitate, GO FOR IT!
You won’t regret it.

The reason I’m such a great stylist!
So I have done most of the courses London College of Style offer (probably because I couldn’t get enough of it)
They were both online and in person, including my Personal Styling Diploma, Colour Analysis training and Advanced Personal Styling Diploma, and I genuinely can’t recommend them highly enough.
From the very beginning, I was welcomed with a friendly face and I felt supported straight away. The tutors are knowledgeable, approachable and genuinely invested in helping you succeed, not just throughout the course, but afterwards too.
Cynthia’s expertise around brand, both designer and high street and fashion culture was honestly invaluable, Dan’s colour knowledge and ongoing support has been amazing, and Wendy’s encouragement, kindness and belief has really helped build my confidence in what I do. I had some personal issues happening behind the scenes and Wendy was so supportive and kind it honestly really helped me push through! She has a heart of gold!
Their combined depth of industry knowledge across the teaching team is honestly something you can’t find anywhere else. They don’t just teach the course content, they help you understand the different directions your career could take and encourage you to build a business that’s authentic to you! It was super inspiring to meet with successful stylists who had previously trained with the London College of Style and had gone on to become tutors for the college. It really reinforced that there are so many opportunities within the industry no matter what direction you choose, personal styling is not fashion styling it’s all about the personal and they really help you understand the difference.
We were taught some of the pillars to actually building a styling business. We covered everything from working with clients, media and developing your own brand, to gaining practical experience.
The in-person training, including styling on Bond Street and working with real models, was an incredible experience.
They were honestly such lovely ladies too it was just amazing! And obviously lots of chaotic fun running around the shops!
One of the biggest things I’ve taken away is the community. London College of Style has created a genuinely supportive network of stylists where collaboration is encouraged over competition. Even after completing my training, I still feel part of that community and chat regularly with some friends I’ve made along the way. It has given me the knowledge, confidence to just go for it! Could not recommend more 🩷

I was very nervous about starting this…
I was very nervous about starting this course because of the language barrier. However, I discovered that the course format was very convenient. Everything that was unclear to me during the live sessions could be listened to and watched again in the recordings, which allowed me to take notes and study comfortably at home.
Moreover, I experienced some technical difficulties during the course. However, the LCS team was always understanding about my problems and helped me with everything. It was a very interesting and valuable experience for me.
All the teachers worked wholeheartedly. Despite all the challenges during my studies, they were able to give me confidence and knowledge. I am endlessly grateful to the team for their hard work and support.

My experience with the London College…
My experience with the London College of Style was very positive overall. The trainers were highly professional, supportive, and generous with their knowledge. The information provided throughout the course was detailed, valuable, and very helpful for developing both styling skills and professional confidence.
The only issue I experienced was that no one clearly explained from the beginning that we needed to continue the theoretical content and complete exams through the online platform independently. I think this part could have been communicated more clearly to avoid confusion.
Overall, it was a valuable and inspiring experience.

Mixed Feelings-I expected more
I have mixed feelings about the virtual colour analysis course. Maybe due to the nature of the course it wasn’t a good idea to do it virtually. Most of the areas covered need improvement such as the analysis of genetics, the personality quiz and the draping process per se. Perhaps the in-person course gives better tips and clues. Another problem is that It is difficult to get accurate pictures with the i-phones because no matter what you do they still change the colours of the photos so it is very difficult to show the teacher what you see in person. As I said in the title I expected more in depth analysis of the method of colour analysis.

You're absolutely right that colour analysis online presents unique challenges, and this is something we discuss throughout the training with emerging colour analysts. Capturing accurate colour using smartphone cameras can be tricky, because devices automatically adjust exposure, white balance and colour. We teach students how to achieve the most accurate results by photographing clients in natural daylight, without makeup, using suitable backgrounds and adjusting smartphone settings where possible, however, despite following best practice, phone cameras will always interpret colour differently from the human eye, and that's why we teach analysts in training to work in-person with live practice clients to develop skill.
Please be reassured, however, that our colour analysis tutors are highly experienced in colour analysis and in assessing smartphone images for assessment with accuracy, and understand these limitations. They assess each case using the photographs alongside the genetics questionnaire and other assessment criteria to build an accurate overall picture, while also guiding students on improving their photography and assessment skills throughout the training, to assess with accuracy.
We appreciate your comments regarding the depth of the genetics, personality profiling and draping methodology. Our teaching is intentionally structured in tiered learning experiences as Colour study is a science and a vast topic. This intentionally helps students first achieve consistent accuracy across the four seasonal groups before progressing to more advanced nuances later on. We deliberately stagger the learning, as students must first master accuracy and consistency in four-season analysis and the draping method which takes practical practice and time to master the accurate colour 'eye'.
We do deliver an Introduction to the 12 Sub-Seasons Masterclass too, inclusive within the advanced colour analysis training, and this can also be taken further as an additional certificate training, which is blended to be part online and part in-person training in London, for those who decide they wish to take their colour analysis skills deeper and further.

I found the course very disappointing…
I found the course very disappointing overall. While Wendy, one of the owners, presents a very polished and persuasive sales pitch, I felt there was a significant gap between what is promised and what is actually delivered.
A lot of the course feels heavily sales-led rather than substance-led. In my experience, LCS comes across as very focused on selling the dream, but the reality of the training does not match those expectations.
The teaching of colour analysis also felt inconsistent and, at times, incorrect compared to what professional colour analysts are practicing. For the price of over £3,200, I don’t feel the depth or accuracy of training justifies the cost, especially when much of the material can be found in far more accessible (and cheaper) online resources.
I also felt the course lacked meaningful industry connections or established contacts that could genuinely support graduates into styling work. Despite the promises made, I did not see evidence of strong pathways into the industry or successful job outcomes from my cohort.
Overall, while the marketing is strong, my experience was that the delivery did not match it, and I would not recommend the course.

💯 worth it
I have finished my week at London College of Style and soon to start the mentoring aspect of the course. I came over for Dublin especially to do this so it wasn’t a decision I made lightly. I can firmly say I am so glad I afforded myself this opportunity. From coming with the initial mindset of doing it “just for me”, I now believe that I could work in this industry. I’m really looking forward to the coming weeks so I can hone my skills and put them into practice.
I was so lucky to be with such a lovely group of women and I found the mix of tutors to be so interesting, giving us a well rounded view of what we need to know along with where we can focus on.

Absolutely Buzzing After Week One!
I’ve just completed the first week of the six week Personal Styling Advanced Diploma at the London College of Style and I’m absolutely buzzing. The course has already far exceeded my expectations, it’s informative, inspiring and great fun.
The course leaders, Dan Blake and Wendy Elsmore, are true experts in the field and incredibly generous with their knowledge. We also had the chance to learn from a range of other brilliant stylists and specialists, all bringing different perspectives and skills.
I met a fabulous group of women, each so different, each amazing and I already feel part of a supportive, creative community.

Took me from a complete novice to a stylist with experience in 6 months
1000% worth every penny. Two things made the course phenomenal: 1) hands-on practical experience with industry professionals/models that resulted in a professional-looking portfolio that has already secured work opportunities, and 2) the ongoing 1-to-1 mentorship with experienced stylists for class and external projects.
One thing that I will say is that the course is intense (in a good way!); it requires work, time, and commitment. If you are at a point in your life/career where you are ready to invest the time, there's no doubt in my mind that you will launch a successful career in fashion.

I attended the London College of Style with high hopes, expecting a premier education in the fashion industry. Unfortunately, my experience fell short in several critical areas, leaving me overall disappointed.
First and foremost, communication between students and professors was incredibly poor. Questions often went unanswered, and clarity about course objectives or expectations was lacking. This created a disjointed learning environment that made it hard to stay engaged or feel supported.
Some instructors were not approachable, which further compounded the issue. When students sought guidance, they were often met with a lack of interest or a dismissive attitude. This was particularly frustrating when paired with the fact that feedback on assignments or in-class activities was almost non-existent. We were left to wonder whether we were on the right track or if we were meeting the course’s standards.
The History of Fashion course, in particular, was disappointing. The instructor would only spend about 30 minutes reading through a slideshow, offering little depth or engagement. For a subject so rich in content and significance, this lack of effort felt like a missed opportunity. Additionally, the online material across the board was outdated, and the Google Classroom platform was never updated in a timely manner, making it difficult to follow along or stay organized.
A significant issue was the frequent tardiness of teachers, which showed a lack of professionalism. Furthermore, there was little consistency in teaching methods, with instructors often contradicting one another. This inconsistency left students confused about which advice or practices to follow.
To make matters worse, slideshows were rarely posted, and when they were, they lacked any additional resources to deepen our understanding. For a program designed to equip students with industry knowledge, this felt inadequate.
In summary, while the London College of Style undoubtedly has some talented instructors and an impressive reputation, my experience was marred by poor communication, outdated materials, and a lack of professionalism. The program needs significant improvements in structure, communication, and teaching methods to truly live up to its potential. For now, I would advise future students to approach with caution and realistic expectations.

We pride ourselves on delivering high-quality, industry-relevant education, and we are surprised by your comments, particularly as we received consistently positive feedback from your classmates, both formally and informally — including during one-to-one meetings, classroom discussions, and the celebratory gathering we held at the end of your programme. At no point were concerns of this nature raised directly with any member of the leadership or academic team, which makes it particularly disappointing to receive this review retrospectively.
Regarding communication and feedback: We ensure our team is available through multiple channels, including in-person check-ins, email, and scheduled tutorials. All tutors make themselves available for questions during and after sessions. Our faculty is composed of highly experienced professionals from across the fashion and styling industries, and we encourage diversity in approach and perspective. This is intentional, as we believe it prepares students for the nuanced, real-world challenges of the creative industries, and allows for a richer learning experience — while still being grounded in our LCS methodology and structure.
On the History of Fashion module: This module was delivered by a respected academic with deep knowledge of the subject. The class was taught through a balance of illustrated lectures and independent learning tasks. If you felt underwhelmed by one element, we would have welcomed the chance to address that in real time — and support you in exploring the topic further through our additional resources or tutor time.
We do, of course, strive to improve. Where elements such as resource uploads or delivery platforms (e.g. Google Classroom) may fall short for some students, we always invite direct feedback so that we can resolve those concerns promptly. Our slides, learning materials, and post-class support are provided as standard, and we are always available to resend or clarify when requested.
Lastly, professionalism is at the core of our values. We do not tolerate lateness or disorganisation, and any incident that deviates from this standard would be addressed swiftly. To our knowledge and records, there were no formal complaints logged about punctuality or conduct across the delivery of your course.
We are deeply committed to the success and satisfaction of every student. We regret that you did not raise these concerns at a time when we could have better supported you. Nonetheless, we wish you the very best in your future and continued success in your creative journey.
