My poor boy was so poorly and needed to see a vet ASAP i rang them
And told me to bring him down straight away 🙏got in there and the girls on reception were just so helpful 🙏
Then the vet arrived and looked after my precious boy giving him a through check over and decided he needed to stop in 😩I’ve just picked him up and even the discharge was just so amazing aswell as he fell asleep in reception on his water bowl 🥣

Definitely would not recommend for any…
Definitely would not recommend for any exotic animals like birds etc , they seem completely clueless and just seem be after your money rather then looking after your Pets health which regrettably I learnt through using them. Will no longer be using these and ensure I stick with a more trusted vet. I cannot bring my pet back but il ensure I never trust these guys again.
Used to be a little expensive but had…
Used to be a little expensive but had some superb vets and nurses that cared a lot about the work they did.
Unfortunately, this has now changed for the worse. A lot of the staff have moved on and the number of branches has been cut back, presumably because of difficulties in recruiting.
Prescriptions are very expensive now. Getting appointments can be very difficult.
Be wary of allowing MyVets to bill your insurer directly - Their insurance department have been less than organised, which, in our experience, has resulted in claims being put in late (over a year late!), being rejected by the insurer (understandably) and us being asked to pick up the bill. Duplicate claims aren't uncommon. MyVets don't appear to manage their accounts with clients properly, resulting in unexpected bills, with little explaination to what they are for or when.
Their out of hours service they offered which was once excellent has now been replaced with VetsNow (which is part of the same group). VetsNow is in the business of extracting cash out of you at when you most need them (7pm on a friday when your dog has become unexplainably ill for example) - £69.00 Consultation Plus a £227.50 Out of hours fee, plus whatever the animal needs.
It's worth mentioning MyVets is actually Independant Vetcare Limited, which is IVC Evidensia - Operating in 20 countries with 2,500 locations and showed a gross profit of £953 Million in 2022!
IVC Evidensia / Independant Vetcare Limited and VetsNow are also all part of the same group (joined in Jan 2019)
As I said at the start of this review, MyVets used to be excellent. They had very caring and experienced staff who clearly enjoyed what they do. I don't know where they went wrong, but it hasn't impacted their profitability!
ONLY INTERESTED IN THE MONEY
Thurs 6th April - Our lovely cat was shot. My daughters took him to Myerscough in Bacup who referred him to their Clayton Le Dale branch. They called me and told me the cost would be about £1200 and could I pay it now. I told them I will speak to my insurance. As it was Thursday evening and it was Easter Weekend our insurance was closed until Tuesday 11 April which is absolutely terrible that you cannot speak to someone for all this length of time. Our cat returned home late that evening (midnight) (they wanted an additional £600 to keep him until 8am the next morning!) He had had a sedation injection and an x ray. He returned to Myerscough on Saturday 8th April as vets informed me he had a pellet lodged in his leg and it had fractured his femur and that amputation was needed or we could try a specialist to see if they could pin his leg. We quickly had to make a decision as to what to do, again insurance was still closed and our cat was in a lot of pain. He had the amputation and returned home the next day (Easter Sunday) We were told this bill would be around £1500. Over the next few days the insurance said they would only cover the first vet costs and that we couldn't claim for his amputation (I have put a complaint in to our insurance as we do have a £4000 a year limit which we are no where near that amount). We have now received a bill from Myerscough for almost £1500 to pay. I have just called and asked if we can do a payment plan over a couple of months, only to be told absolutely not, no negotiating, just pay up! Absolutely shocking service from both Myerscough and our insurance. We have had so much stress over the past couple of weeks with his accident and now having to find this money in one go. Needless to say we have now registered our cat with another vets who are a little more compassionate and not just in it for the money!!
THIS PLACE HAS GONE DOWNHILL
Used them for years but no longer do so. Some of the staff are ok. They charged me twice for cat’s booster w I did get a refund although still much more expensive than last year. I phoned asking for wormer and flea treatment and was told I would have to wait a week as they were busy! I got it same day from another vet. If you want a same day appointment you now pay more whatever time of day not just out of hours. Of course you want same day if your pet is ill! Reception staff chop and change and often get things wrong. This place is now too commercial and I don’t think the pet’s interest is their main priority any longer!
Found a much better vets in Longridge.
I've used Myerscough vets for over 20…
I've used Myerscough vets for over 20 years but recent experiences mean I won't be going back. First, there are no vets available at my local branch in Oswaldtwistle only a nurse. Second the charges have become extortionate. Last year an appointment to see a nurse to express my dogs anal glands cost £18.00. My next appointmet early this year cost £24.00. My last one this week cost £49.00 and when I challenged this I was told it was £24.00 for the expression and £25.00 for the 'consultation'! I literally walked my dog into the surgery and the nurse asked if I wanted the procedure done on the table or on the floor -that was the only 'consultation'. I emailed Myvets and asked why there was this extra charge and they replied it was 'policy'. Therefore I've changed vets - one with a vet actually on site and open and transparent prices.
Absolutely appalling vets
Absolutely appalling vets. From cocky vets who say you didn’t say you were bringing two pets when you booked two in to see the vet to the person who deals with claims not entering the claim then not ringing you back to say why. Four months of waiting and four calls.
A few years ago this was a brilliant vets but now it’s the worst.
Veterinary nurse Danny was so lovely…
Veterinary nurse Danny was so lovely and friendly with my dog, Hugo and went out of her way to be very helpful.
Thank you.
My local vet has been taken over by…
My local vet has been taken over by this company. Since then the service has declined dramatically. I have left the vets due to lack of knowledge from reception staff (the new staff - 1 particular old staff was always welcoming and loving to my cat) The new staff didn't know how to cancel my pet plan, didn't put me on a waiting list for a booster (had to wait 2 months), forgot to put my fleaing and worming prescription in after calling and visiting. The link via the text reminders to order treatments stopped working and wasted trips there. Never seemed bothered.
The vet I saw today was very lovely and patient with my very stressed cat.
A vet I recently spoke to told me lots of vets and staff left because of mistreatment from management.
My cat comes first, so new vets from now, don't care if I have to drive miles every time.
So far so good but I've only been once
So far so good but I've only been once. The nurse was great with my kitten 😺 He was neutered and she put me at ease saying hed get lots of cuddles. Was literally 2 and half hours and sent home with some nice food. Got 2 more check ups so il know more about them but yeah thank you. Much appreciated Carina and Jinxi
What has gone wrong?
Such a shame that this vets has plummeted into such troubles. I wonder what had caused this descent into inefficiency, poor communication, erratic pricing and loss of Vets. Any one know? Have transferred our aged cat to Oakhill. What a contrast. Two vets and two+ receptionist/admin/nurse on duty. The vet engaged with my pet and seemed interested and caring. Went for annual jabs - half the price! I feel so sorry for the remaining MyVets staff - they must be experiencing some grumpy customers. Some of them (Emma, Lytham/Freckleton - absolutely lovely.) We couldn’t cope with the uncertainty any longer. Shame.
Do not register your animals with this…
Do not register your animals with this practice.
I tried to book an appointment for my dog who was suddenly displaying unusual symptoms including spasmodic twitching and general discomfort to be told that the next available appointment locally was two weeks away due to Brexit and the lack of qualified veterinary staff available within the business following. Really? Brexit took place two and a half years ago. Irresponsible and unacceptable.
Next, I notice that my pet’s’ annual boosters are due yet there has been no notification of this from Myerscough whatsoever. On attempting to book them both in via the online service, it was not possible to do so. Previously there had not been any problem at all.
A complaint sent regarding all of this was sent on the 6th June 2022 asking what was going on. This was escalated on the 8th June 2022 to a Formal Complaint.
It is now the 21st June 2022 (2 weeks later) and no response has been given.
As my animal’s vaccinations are overdue, I have been forced to register with a different practice.
What a difference. Registration completed online and acknowledged within 24 hours. An appointment booked in for both pets the week after.
I phoned Myerscough to request that the records for both animals be transferred to the new practice and was not asked once why I had decided to leave.
It’s clear to me that Myerscough/Myvet cannot accommodate the client base that they have due to staffing issues. This also explains the 35 day complaint response time given on the website which is far beyond any that I have witnessed in any sector.
All of the above has now been notified to the RCVS and VMD respectively.
Such conduct is clear negligence.
Clients are paying for and rightly expecting an utterly professional and duly responsible care and service for their animals that is fairly charged and appropriate to the condition and ongoing well being of the pet concerned.
This is not it.
AVOID.
No customer loyalty since they became "My Vets"
I had been with what was Mysercough Vets Clitheroe Branch, for over 30 years and had always been happy with their staff and service, until I recently had a quote to scale, polish and extract a tooth from my Yorkie Millie and was quoted £1000!!
Previous to this I had my other dog Bella a Maltese Shih Tzu for the above without an extraction and it cost me £390.
So after Millie’s outrageous quote, thought, its time to move on.
I spoke to a friend who recommended Longridge Vets so I decided to move to them.
So they went ahead with Millie's scale and polish and found 5 teeth had decayed which they replaced and only charged me £382 a difference of £618!!
To rub salt in the wound, had I taken Bella there for a straight clean and polish it would only have cost me £108 a difference of £282!!
I then emailed My Vets complaints department, expressing my concern about their charges and they didn’t even bother to reply??
So from now on I will stick with a small practise, as you get more realistic charges and a more personal service.
The final straw
Sadly I have been taking my 4 rescue dogs to this practice over the years and understandably they have had a number of health issues which time, patience, expense and veterinary intervention have so far resolved. I knew they were expensive but until now I have been very happy with the veterinary professionals that I have had dealings with. I have always erred on the side of caution and they were usually supportive in that although I have had, twice, written to highlight my financial discontent. But the latest scenario was the end of the line. My poodle had itchy ears. He was scratching at them like crazy, so I wanted them checked out. A vet i haven't seen before kept me waiting quite a while. The surgery waiting room was empty! She eventually called me in lifted the dogs ears, no auroscope evaluation, told me to use saline solution in them(after insulting my intelligence by explaining what it was, how to make it and not to put boiling water in his ears!) and sent me to the desk to pay £51.£51! For a 3 min consultation. I queried the cost and, was told that prices had gone upin January. That's some whopping increase and no signs up anywhere to indicate the change. Needless to say all 4 dogs have been re - registered at the only independent vets I could find in the area. They need to learn that responsible pet owners are their bread and butter and don't take kindly to being treated like fools .
Definetly agree with all these reviews…
Definetly agree with all these reviews recently took my dog in she had an ear infection £80 for a bottle of ear drops
All about the money
Absolute jokers £38,50 consultation…
Absolute jokers £38,50 consultation fee. For every visit “even if you have to go back next week so they can see how the pet is. The first visit was a waste of time and money as the vet did not diagnose the problem £58,50 poorer ; the second visit because of a false diagnosis £87,80 poorer it seems like they don’t know 100% what’s wrong at first instance what the issue is. Hence 4 or 5 visits @ £38,50 before medication. As for medication. I got slammed £42,70 for something available online for £5,98. And before anyone says. Is it the same blah blah blah. Yes it is. I purchased it online and my cat was fine. I did explain that I couldn’t afford to go back for another check up and was basically told that. If you don’t have the cash “we don’t want to see you”. No alternative in this vets. It’s mainly a guessing game but at the owners expense. I thought highway robbery ended when the hung Dick Turpin. But he’s clearly back masquerading as Myerscough vet group. These are the most expensive vets in the northwest. That’s just for consultation fees. As I squandered all my savings on my pet and no nearer to finding out what’s wrong with it. It looks like this Christmas we’re going to end up with a Turkey looking worse than that of Bob Cratchet from Oliver.
Dreadful!
I had to take my son's dog to the Clayton le Dale branch of this vets as they were the only out of hours vets available at the time. She had been pooing liquid blood and vomiting all night. She could hardly stand and certainly couldn't walk. Hadn't eaten anything for last 24 hours and was very lethargic. The vet I saw checked her over and said she wasn't too dehydrated and had some discomfort in her abdomen, but no temperature. She said it could possibly be pancreatitis, gave her an anti sickness injection (even though I'd told her she hadn't vomited for the last 6 hours) and a steroid injection to "jump start" her recovery. She told me to go home and if she was no better tomorrow, sunday, she would need to be seen again. She gave me 4 different meds to take home, including wormer sachets and probiotics to be added to her food. The dog could hardly stand and wasn't eating or drinking! I paid the very large bill and took her home. 4 hours later, she started fitting and then died in front of us. When I asked if I could return the unused meds for a refund I was told no drugs could be returned to them! I'd only been handed them 4 hours ago!
I'm not saying that the outcome would have been any different for our dog, but the vet should have warned me that it wasn't a good prognosis and offered to keep her in for observation and fluids, or warned me that she was close to death at that time.
I will never use this vets again.
Poor practice and customer service.
I had a very poor experience recently dealing with Myerscough vets. I had a microchip issue with my cat. I rang them on a number of occasions and they never got back to me. I found them unreliable, with poor customer service and communication. I haven't taken any of my pets there for treatment for a while, as I have previously found the quality of the surgery and patient care quite poor.
If I could give a 0 rating I would
If I could give a 0 rating I would.
Only interested in money. Lost my pup and received awful care for her beforehand.
Less than 24hrs after taking her the first time and paying £120 for anti-sickness treatment she likely shouldn't have had (seemingly didn't do initial checks properly, as I now know from other advice it was a time sensitive issue. Had she have been caught in the 24hrs before, when we went the first time, there was around a 30% higher chance she'd have been saved), she was back in and taken for emergency surgery, where I was then told after they had X-rayed beforehand to see where the issue was, that they couldn't do anything after starting operating because it was too close to organs.
I've paid over £1300 to lose my dog.
Go elsewhere.
