Ferrets vaccination
On Thursday I had a previously arranged appointment with the vets on at Anne's square. When I ask about the cost I was told by the reception that it would be in the region of £30 -£35 for the distemper vaccination. I have a mental health condition and receiving benefits I was never asked if I was in receipt of any benefit. To be told after the animal had received the vaccination I was informed that the cost was going to be £65. Luckily I had the money to pay for it but I am disappointed with the service I received and will not be use the unprofessional and lack of customer service representative at the surgery I have another Ferret that will receive a vaccine in the next month I will not be using your practice anymore either will I recommend you to the over a hundred follows on my social media pages for the Ferrets community in this area. I had a previous Ferret called bandit who u got vaccination and chipped and nail clipped all for the cost of £80. Although this was four or so years ago. I've enquired to the royal college of vets and I've been informed that the vaccine should have been no more than £47:50 Inc vat. So it's blatant over charge. I'm sorry to complain about this but I was told if the payment was seen to be an overcharge I'd be refunded the difference to my card. But I have had no correspondence from the surgery and I'm still fuming about the luck of communication between the staff at the practice how can the reception not know what you charge for vaccination I gave you plenty of time to correct the issue before I arrived instead I was put on the spot and was made to feel very anxious about the disagreement about the cost when the mistake was clearly there's to correct. I will take every opportunity to post on TripAdvisor and every other forum for Ferrets in the fylde area that this surgery is no longer Ferret friendly vets.
Yours sincerely
Kris Taylor
Absolutely discussed with the treatment…
Absolutely discussed with the treatment my daughters dog received. Not only didn't they carry out the checks they should have done which resulted in a return emergency visit again 24 hours later to end up losing her, when if the correct checks had been done on the first visit she would probably have home home the following day. To then demand payment when I went to collect her after saying we had a couple of days was beyond heartless and callous. Disgusting treatment of grieving families.
Myerscough Clitheroe Practice
What a shame Myerscough Clitheroe practice seem to have picked up where Vets4Pets left off. They used to have a good reputation across the board but the last few years it's dipped considerably and I note several other reviewers have picked up on them being prone to wringing every last penny as they can muster and PetPlan insurance cover is like a winning lottery ticket.
Sister in law's 18yr old dog Toby who is deaf, almost blind, incontinent and had problems with imbalance became very unwell a few weeks ago and was unable to walk properly, had no balance and kept toppling over and we suspected he may have suffered some neurological condition. SIL had for some time been wrestling over whether or not to have him put to sleep peacefully knowing he doesn't have the quality of life he should but feeling she is in some way wrong to intervene and “play God” so to speak.
Seeing him in that collapsed state meant she decided it was not in his best interests and she booked an emergency consult with the intention of him being PTS.
Unbelievably and inexplicably the vet that saw him was dismissive of her suspicions he might have had a stroke or some other serious problem. SIL struggled to broach the subject and bring up the dreaded mention of euthanasia but when she did, the vet said she considered it “a shame to put him down for something she felt could be treated” and that made SIL utterly bereft with guilt, grief and set her back to thinking she was cruel for even thinking it let alone say it aloud.
Vet palmed her off with nearly £200 of treatment for what she said was probably just an ear infection but otherwise Toby was a healthy dog. She had another follow up appt the day after and saw a different vet at the Longsight Rd / A59 practice and whose opinion was entirely different and mirrored that of ours.
2nd vet said she thought Toby had suffered a small stroke and said whilst she could prescribe him treatment and meds to help maintain and alleviate any distressing symptoms, he would almost certainly suffer a second and probably much larger, serious stroke which is most cases is likely to be fatal. SIL by then had already lost her nerve and gone back on her initial decision that it would be in his best interests to be PTS. The second vet didn't charge for a consult presumably feeling bad that the practice had already failed this owner and dog with questionable ethics.
The vet that saw them first time should have weighed up Toby's age, failing health, poor quality of life and his devastated owner's heartfelt admission that she felt it was best to let him go. She should have allowed her that choice, talked her through her options and given her professional opinion without attempting to sway her decision in the same way the second vet did.
Toby is still alive but my SIL is on her last nerve expecting him to collapse again at any time or worse still, fearful of waking up to find him dead.
I recall taking my old dog to Myerscough Clitheroe practice the year before last and the staff being adamant that unless insured with PetPlan, all bills must be paid for up front in full. There is an element of eyes lighting up when customers have PetPlan insurance and whilst most vets across the country prefer and will liaise and deal with claims directly, they will for sure start to get suss and start to check bills, treatment and medicines carefully when dogs of this age and in already very poor health are routinely being billed for hundreds if not thousands.
Having excellent insurance for pets should not be the sole concern of vets they still have a professional duty of care and are morally and ethically bound to act in the best interests of animals they see.
I would not recommend them sadly and instead suggest AnimalTrust as being the next, most reliable practice as they are a not-for-profit charity and do not charge consult fees for sick and injured animals. You would be supporting a much better cause, helping a practice that is working with your pet's genuine best interests at heart.
You can tell an awful lot about any professional service or business that has a string of poor reviews and ratings but doesn't bother to post a single response to any of them.
Myerscough's failure to bother following up and responding to any of their reviews on this website (good and bad) is in keeping with their failure to bother full stop.
Quick service and kind staff members
Had to rush to the 24/7 vets with my dog after he had a fall. Called my local branch first who got us an appointment at the Clayton le Dale centre within the hour. We were seen straight away by the vet who even got a second opinion just to check that they thought my dogs leg was ok. They were kind, reception staff couldn’t have been nicer and when we went back today the second vet was incredibly lovely, made such a fuss of my dog he was settled straight away. My dog was fine in the end, given some anti-inflammatories at a cheaper price than I expected for two consultations. Couldn’t recommend them enough and the reception staff have all been incredibly friendly.
Very disappointed won't be going here again
Seemed more interested in making a lot of money from the consultation than caring for our pet felt ripped off and that they didn't care at all for our cat I would say go to a more compassionate vets I won't go here again
Not interested in cats, only cash
Unwelcoming and unfriendly. There is no separate area for cats, as some vets have, to reduce anxiety. Waited about 10 mins, which was longer than the appointment. My cat had her annual jabs but was not given a health check; no look at her teeth or eyes. I asked if she could have her claws clipped but the vet was reluctant and said I needed to book another appointment. (This creates additional revenue, no doubt). I was also told to book another appointment to look at a lump on her side. She also wanted me to hold my cat while she did the jab, although I somehow had to stay behind a screen at the same time. I have never seen my cat so stressed at an appointment and the vet showed no interest in her and didn't ask any questions, even out of polite interest. At the end of the consultation the vet turned her back on me and told me to go to reception to pay. No "we're all done/ anything else/ thanks, bye". They didn't give me the vaccination record, which I need to book the cattery. I am about as impressed as they are interested; not at all.

Wonderful care by compassionate and caring vets Ellie and Ros who have shown great skill in looking after our beloved Golden Cocker spaniel aged 15 through a possible stroke or ear infection
Ros this evening was so kind to my dog and showed great empathy to us in a very worrying time

I took my dog Bo here because he was constantly drinking water, he had blood test & urine samples took over a few appointments. Wasnt getting to find out what was wrong with him, he had another blood test & they told me to come back for him in a hour. When they brought him out of kennels i was horrified because he had a huge lump on his shoulder & he looked disfigured. I asked the receptionist what the hell had happened to him & she said to wait for the vet. She came out & couldnt explain it & my dog was crying so much a took him home. When a rang to find out what happened the recepcionist ended the call, ive never been back & put off vets for life. My boy still drinking too much & we never found out why but they took a big amount of money off me. Also never found out what happened to cause the huge lump on his shoulder, absolutely disgusting!
Disgusting pricing
Disgusting pricing, no more than 10 minutes with the vet and some basic eye drops £70 unbelievable, I don’t mind paying a fair price but this is a RIP OFF, won’t be going anywhere near again 😡😡
My cat they said needed blood tests…
My cat they said needed blood tests they said so made apointment as requested was asked to wait outside the room 2 staff took 15 minutes herd cat crying out in pain before they said quote he would t let us take blood unquote £33, please for nothing, never again if they cant handle a cat god help them with anything else
Disgusting place, don’t come here!
This place is absolutely atrocious. No care for animals whatsoever! My cat nearly died because he had a urinal blockage and they put a catheter in and gave him no antibiotics and I suspect that they didn’t do any thing to help him! Despicable, money grubbing, bottom feeding, remorseless, greedy, overpriced scammers!
Bullied into unnecessary prescription…
Bullied into unnecessary prescription reviews every 2 months at extra costs when other vets only require 6 monthly reviews, When,Challenged senior vet didn't give a Damn.Blase attitude.
WOULD NOT RECOMMEND,RIP OFF,BEWARE

There’s been a few occasions now where I have had unhelpful reception staff. It seems to me on my last occasion when I challenged the reception staff over a unhelpful manner she just chose to hang up on me. It seems they do not have the ability to offer a higher standard of customer service.Only looking to discredit the customer when they can’t answer a question. Luckily for me and my pet the vet Herself seems to be quite professional and keen to do the best for my pet.
This vet is disgusting
This vet is disgusting, just hung up on me from a so called manager. They never called back after numerous time of trying to get a hold of accounts and now they have threatened debt collectors. Money grabbers and have absolutely no regard for their customers. Utterly disgusting.
Uncaring
I have been using this vets for many years,as it is just around the corner.I realise it has changed hands many times.I used to get caring service here until it became Myerscough.
When my cat is due her yearly jab the vet has ALWAYS weighedher, checked her eyes and teeth.last Saturday's visit was awful as she just gave her the jab and she squealed when the needle went in (something she has never ever done before) no inquiries were made as to her well being, very amateurish,I got the impression the vet was not at all professional,END OF MYERSCOUGH VISITS.
They sent my dog home saying there was…
They sent my dog home saying there was nothing wrong on an emergency appointment on Monday. By Friday she had surgery and was put to sleep with cancer. They refused to admit her on the Thursday night before she was put to sleep on the Friday saying they would not care for her. They made me feel like a monster please do not take your pets there they do not care. The out of hours Is a farce. So heartbreaking after trusting this vets for the last twelve years. I took my dog to Animal Trust for a second opinion and knew my pet was not herself. This vets is making an amazing amount of money because they are 24/7. We are left without our girl asked for a paw print and got one from the practice not a professional one from the crematorium. Really consider the ethics’s of the vets before you send them. I have always trusted the vet I have used to do the best sadly heart broken 😠 xx
Waited 7 months before they asked for apparent balance!
September 21st 2019 we had to have the vet called out because our boy couldn’t walk and he was in too much pain to lift!
I phoned up the practice paid a large amount of money by card and the vet came out!
The vet was absolutely lovely and caring, we had to have our boy put down, obviously devastating for us! No further communication with vets or reception, no mention of an outstanding balance (which I would have paid there and then) he stayed with us at home and we buried him, so no cremation charge.
Cut to April 2020 and I get a random letter out of the blue saying I owe them £70, ring the practice and get told the finance woman will ring me back because she is on holiday.
I heard nothing! A month later a letter telling me they are sending it to a debt collector.
I called the practice again to speak to her and surprise surprise she wasn’t available. Then 6 weeks later got A snotty voicemail off her saying she has been trying to ring me... she hasn’t! And she will be sending the debt collectors.
My issue is why would you wait 7 months to ask for monies owed? And not ask me on the day knowing full well I just wanted my boy looking after and money was no object!
If you are looking to use them I would be wary of this.
I first moved to Brierfield with my…
I first moved to Brierfield with my Staffy when he was 3. He was suffering with sores between his toes and a general itchiness. The vet phoned someone in front of me, and I quote "ooh, nice fresh insurance". She put him on the most expensive drug she could, which I was told would not cost me anything as it would be covered by my insurance. Every monthly visit, I had to pay the consultation fee, aswell as any antibiotics needed, as the Atopica was not working. They advised me to carry on with Atopica aswell as charging me for antibiotics, every time his condition really flared up. They charged my insurance so much, my payments went from £20 monthly to £90 monthly. All the while charging me for the monthly consultations and antibiotics. I asked for a complaint form and was told they didn't have any, but they know who my dog is and one would be obtained for me...it never was. I went to another vet, and in the 2 years since, he hasn't been on any drugs for his condition, which is helped with the aid of malaseb shampoo! These money grabbing scum, should be regulated!

I visited Myerscough vets Hesketh Bank on Monday, with my dog who had the runs. Was in the consulting room literally 2 minutes given vetpro. I paid £60.00. Looked up on internet price of paste £14.99. Dog no better. Just been told I have to pay another consultation fee if I take him back as this paste has not worked. Disgusting service. Vets like this need taking down.
I can never get through to my surgery…
I can never get through to my surgery on the phone so I never know where I get connected to and the whole procedure is just awful keep having to explain everything and hoping the right person gets the message.! The online booking system has a mind of its own as it let me book an appointment for when the surgery was shut.! I can’t fault the staff Iv seen but it’s clear they are only in it for the money. If you’re on benefits you can get it much cheaper but you will have to ask them.
