Nationwide keep randomly blocking my bank cards. I have no means to resolve this. I am autistic. Due to this I cannot use the phone. There sucurity policies rely on using the phone this puts my safety at risk. I am frequently left with no means to pay bills
The distress lead to autustic meltdown which may lead to me harming myself
Awfully rude
Awfully rude!
After sending automated text messages, requesting customers to call them( without taking into consideration how time consuming a telephone conversation with them is ), the Nationwide operator had a gross missconduct.
Sarcastic, with No manners or consideration that the customer might be sick, or vulnerable or emotionally frail.
He hang off the phone with No thank you for calling, thank you for your time.
No manners, No customer service, No respect.
No customer loyalty
After using Nationwide for the past 13 or so years we recently asked if they would insure the annexe (which is completely detached from our house) as we are considering renting it out. Not only did they say no (OK - we can cope with that) they also cancelled our existing home insurance on the grounds that customers using the annexe might damage our home - despite the fact we live in the home 12 months a year and are always around. No customer loyalty whatsoever. Will never use them again.
A rough experience but read to the end
The worst experience I have ever had with a financial institution. I have been trying to get my 403b rolled over to another plan with another company. Nationwide have a typo in their system with my DOB incorrect. Its an issue on their end. They said they created a ticket internally to get it resolved, a week later I called to check on the status and I was told that my DOB is incorrect in their system and until its fixed they cannot perform my rollover. They say the ticket that was created by their customer service member was closed and the issue was not fixed. The worst part for me is that my DOB is good on the application and it was legally notarized with proof of ID. They have never even tried to contact me, im the one who keeps calling them! The error is on their end. They are unapologetic and bureaucratic. Today they told me they have opened another support ticket to get my DOB updated and I should wait another 7-10 business days.
Update: Nationwide fixed the issue and expedited my requested transaction. They then called me to give me an update and asked me if I had any questions. One thing i will say is that even with me being upset, everyone I spoke to was professional and maintained their composure.
Nationwide has FRAUDULENTLY and FALSELY…
Nationwide has FRAUDULENTLY and FALSELY reported my recent accident (11/30/2023) to CLUE (COMPREHENSIVE LOSS UNDERWRITING EXCHANGE) as the AT-FAULT DRIVER. This is FALSE INFORMATION causing other insurance companies to QUOTE EXCESSIVELY HIGH RATES for the new vehicle I am in the process of purchasing. All information is in the POLICE REPORT. I did NOT have a STOP SIGN at the intersection, the AT-FAULT DRIVER DID and NEVER STOPPED, COLLIDING with my vehicle, totaling it. This information needs to be UPDATED ASAP, or I am definitely pursuing legal actions.
Nationwide 👎👎👎
Veteran 10 years. Nationwide customer 40 years auto 25 years homeowners. They are a horrible company only concerned with profits not people. Corporate criminals is an apt term for them. Avoid this sleazy company if at all possible

Impossible to speak to anybody at Nationwide about upgrading travel insurance - really frustrating and unpleasant experience trying to sort out cover. Expected better from Nationwide.
Horrid Ordeal Whilst Being 7 Month Pregnant
We called yourselves on the 07/01/24 at 6.45am morning needing a plumber to come and fix our blocked pipe as the pipe had leaked all over our bathroom floor, however we was told we couldn’t have anyone attend until Monday AM. Leaving us unable to use our toilet. At this point we had buckets and towels full of water. It had blew our electrics as this had leaked into our kitchen, but again you still didn't send anyone to fix the issue. You sent an electrician to fix the electric issue, which he did so thankyou for that. However as the day has gone on, the toilet leak has gotten significantly worse to the point where our ceiling in the kitchen was leaking, the electrics had blown again meaning we were left with no boiler, no electric or no toilet. Please bare in mind, I am 7 months pregnant. Due to you leaving us without a toilet, I had to actually wee in the bath.
Our bathroom was covered in phesis, which then became a hygiene issue. I had tried to ring you again, but didn't get any luck with being answered. This resulted in me having to ring an emergency plumber out (the first number that came up on google) to solve the issue.
This resulted in us having to pay £369.00 (invoice attached) there and then when he had fixed the issue, which has then left us short for the month and to be honest, struggling. By the time the emergency plumber had left, it was gone 8pm.
Monday morning, when you were due to send a plumber out, i give it until 9am as you STILL hadn't assigned the job to anyone, i decided to ring and explain our situation and cancel the plumber. But i did then have to request someone come out and look at the kitchen ceiling due to the leak being bad.
Following on a few days, i had rang reimbursements and asked for our money back, she told me you would not refund due to you not 'approving a tradesmen', until i explained the situation to her, explained i was heavily pregnant and she then advised that actually reimbursements should refund me.
Due to the stress i was under and not knowing what would of happened if i hadn't of called an emergency plumber because you didn't help us and having to try to survive the rest of the month financially. i actually ended up in hospital. I have then been declined a refund and been ignored for 4 days and been brushed off.
I bought travel insurance from…Nationwide Insurance
I bought travel insurance from Nationwide for a cabin rental in Colorado. One of the participants had to cancel for medical reasons. We sent all documents requested, numerous times (they kept requesting that we re-send - always waiting 2-3 weeks to respond - probably in hopes we would just give up.) When they finally agreed to pay our claim, after 6 months of diversionary tactics, they sent an online portal for direct deposit which I did not want. I wanted them to mail a check. It took numerous phone calls (not to mention hours on hold) and I never spoke to anyone who could help me. I finally did the direct deposit out of sheer frustration of dealing with this train wreck. My time and frustration was not even close to the meager claim payment they eventually offered. Going forward I will take my chances and never again pay for this insurance.
Nationwide is going nowhere fast
I went in to my local branch of Nationwide around 1.45 pm today. There was one person behind the counter, serving one customer, who was taking a very long time.
Another staff member was standing around in front of house, and my husband asked whether she could pop onto a til, but she wouldn't and had a couldn't care less attitude. When asked why there was only one staff member behind the counter, she told us that this was due to shortage of staff and because it was lunchtime. After 15 minutes my husband asked her again why she couldn't go on the til, this time it was because she was serving another customer (who had come in after us.) Asked when the rest of the staff would be back she told us this would be in about half an hour, and we should go away and come back later. My husband then went looking for another staff member and found one round the corner in an office, who agreed to go on the til. I withdrew the cash I needed to pay into my bank account, when I handed the cash over the counter at HSBC they found that two of the notes were badly damaged, with a hole in one of them. The cashier at Nationwide had cleverly counted them out in front of me hiding the damaged notes. If I had tried to use them in a shop they would probably have refused them. Nationwide is keen to present itself as a bank, but on my experience today they have no chance their attitude to customers is abysmal. Nationwide is truly going nowhere, fast.
Claim Warfare
I have a business-owners policy with Allied (Nationwide). When I filed my first claim in five years due to weather damage to my chimney, their first step was to engage a structural engineer to rule in their favor. They spent over four thousand dollars to hire that engineer rather than negotiate a claim payment in good faith and in accordance with their policy contract. I received zero dollars due to a coverage denial. And then Nationwide had the gall to non-renew my policy due to "loss experience." Are you kidding me? I didn't receive a penny from them.
They left me with very few options, as I would have to engage a structural engineer of my own, or hire a lawyer, when I really only needed a small amount (3-5k) for this claim.
Long story short, if you want a company that stands by its' promise to policyholders, pick anyone else.
Unreliable, unprofessional, disorganized
Unreliable, unprofessional, and disorganized. If you are about to deal with them, make a U-turn. If you deal with them, you may run the risk of lapsing your insurance since they will keep you in the dark and ghost you at the end. Nationwide agents could only provide me with a verbal quote for my home insurance. Fernando Gaytan, whom I consulted with first, would not answer my request to provide a quote in writing. After numerous emails, he said the quote is under review and ghosted me. I then reached Maxey Naaman who would do the same thing. When my insurance was a few days from lapsing, he responded that he would get back to me by the next day. He did not. I followed up. After another day, he responded that I was denied insurance. The next agent told me that he does not see any paperwork for me. The fourth agent, David Pappas, told me that my insurance is still being reviewed but had no idea when I could hear back, 3 weeks after I received a quote and only 3 days away from my insurance lapsing.
Horrible Claim service
Horrible Claim service. Deceitful and liars. And every other insurance company that I have spoken to following this incident agrees. Also the rep I dealt with, Amanda Heenan, is BY FAR, the worst employee of a company that I have ever done business with. Pure trash at its finest.
Absolutely rubbish company
Absolutely rubbish company, rang them on the 28 November telling them we had no hot water or heating, they sent somebody out 4 days later, engineer said it needs a new part someone will be back in 48 hrs to fit new part, still waiting 2weeks later , disgusting service
Terrible claim service
Update:
Nationwide Consumer Relations got involved and approved my claim. I’m waiting on the check.
Terrible claim service. I filed a small claim for our cancelled Israel trip. All I get is endless requests for more documents. I've sent them everything you can imagine and just get back the same message, "Please send the official cancellation letter". I've sent all communications including one where the travel company offered a different trip. Nationwide is garbage coverage. Don't waste your money.
TERRIBLE COMPANY
I had nationwide for the first time 40 years ago. They canceled my policy within the first 60 days of coverage stating I did not provide proof of prior coverage or that I had a roommate. Neither of these questions were on the original application, which I provided back in response to the cancelation. I also provided proof of prior coverage in my initial response. They canceled me any way. I told myself never again. 2 years ago I bought a house and went to the insurance market for homeowners insurance. Nationwide was one of the top 3. Long story short I went with Nationwide hoping improvements had occurred. In December 2022, I reached out to Nationwide to get a quote to include earthquake insurance. When I received a response with only the cost of the insurance, I asked to see the earthquake endorsement and it was clear that Valarie at Nationwide had no idea what an endorsement was and she sent me a copy of my current policy. I regret my decision to do business with Nationwide insurance. The communication, customer service and underwriting are TERRIBLE! I will NEVER use Nationwide, Allied, Scottsdale, AMCO or any other affiliated company again, for ANYTHING, EVER!!! Effective November 1, 2023 I am canceling my home owners policy with Nationwide.
Massive rise in auto insurance policy price renewals
My auto insurance policy renewal amount has increased by 75+%. I pay my auto insurance in 6-month increments, so when I sent my normal payment of $921.42 and was billed the following month for $727.48, I thought they had made a mistake. No claims have been made since 2013 when my wife's car was stolen. They have no customer service contacts except when you want to make a payment. All other calls regarding policies are forwarded to your insurance broker who can only tell you . I understand that new homeowners/claims are jacking up prices but there should be perks for existing customers who've been members for over 35+ years. Well, my broker sent me a quote from Traveler's insurance for $990 every 6-months and I'm working on receiving another quote from Erie Insurance. So, it's safe to say, that Nationwide will no longer be my auto insurance carrier.
I had a leak from my bungalow roof…
I had a leak from my bungalow roof after a storm in October 2023. It caused damage to my kitchen ceiling and flooring it's the first time I have had to claim, but it has been horrendous.
It's over five weeks now and they have had no report yet from the assessor, I have arranged someone to do the repair because I could not wait any longer.
I have emergency home cover but it seems next to useless when you need it.
I had a heart attack four weeks ago and all this stress is not helpful.
I have found I still have a leak from the roof and they are trying to get someone, it's a nightmare.
They are still trying to get someone for my roof problem, they say they can't get anyone yet.
This is supposed to be an emergency home service
I wish I had never taken this home insurance, your left to do the work to get things done yourself.
