Love Tokyo Otaku Mode
TOM is nice depending on if it is in stock in the US where I'm buying from or not. They are cheaper on shipping which is worth it even though you have to wait a little longer than getting it from a different place that's located in Japan and paying 3x more and getting it quicker. Great prices and gets here fast after purchase. They package great as well. If you can be patient, they are worth it.

It will take weeks if not months just for Tokyo Otaku Mode to post your order, that is if they didn't come up with another excuse to delay it further. This Japanese company have no honor, if it is actually run by real Japanese people, probably not.
Order never came, DENIED REFUND
I pre-ordered a Hatsune Miku figure from them at the END of 2020. if was supposed to come out in late 2021, and they emailed me every month after saying it got delayed. A year went by. I was fed up and asked for a refund, they would only offer me “TOM points” so I took the points thinking I could just use the money to buy another figure. Turns out, even with the points I didn’t want, I could only use 15% of the points PER order.. So in order to actually use my $240 I would need to place tons of orders... I’ve been ordering from them for years so this really was shocking. they are INSANE. oh and the points have an expiration date. COULD IT GET WORSE

waited for months for package to be delivered and it never got here. there are plenty of better figure websites to purchase from and I highly would reccomend staying away from this one.
Too risky, not worth it.
My experience has been that my regular orders have done mostly okay. 3 out of my 4 regular orders came in time, one never shipped but I was able to get a refund with PayPal. The customer service did not let me get a refund, however. I contacted them and they did not respond for a while and when they finally did respond they said that it was too late. I ordered a preorder over a year ago and the date was pushed back again and again. Still have not received the item.

3 Delays... just give me a final date!
First off: I've bought many times from Otaku Mode. Everything from their prices to their packaging get a solid 5/5! Every box has arrived in mint condition, and they even include collectible postcards with chibi ninja artwork. Zero complaints on that front.
However, after my last purchase - with 3 delays totaling 9 months after the original arrival date - I'm starting to question their honesty. It started with a 2 month delay: January to March. No problem, COVID caused problems for everyone. Then 3 more months: March to June. It's normal to overestimate things. All of June goes by with no word until the 28th. 4 more months: June to October.
In this time, the aftermarket price on this figure has risen to the point where it's too expensive to back out. This is a common occurrence with figures, and I can’t help but feel like they knew this could happen. Did they really not know there’d be 7 more month of delays? Maybe. At the very least, this company needs to fix their communication with their suppliers. Until then, I won’t be buying from them.
Gave it a chance despite reviews.
I pre-ordered a figure that wasn't out yet, the price was reasonable enough (with premium). It isn't always the cheapest place to buy from though. But, in some cases it is the cheapest place to buy stuff from, you just have to check other sites and compare prices to make sure they are offering the best prices.
I was a little worried about buying from the site because, I saw a lot of bad reviews and I had already pre-ordered six other figures on top of the one that I bought prior.
I sighed a huge sigh of relief when my figure arrived and was overjoyed when I saw that the figure's box was in near mint condition.
The only major downside is that the figure ended up going down in price even more, well before my figure got to me.
And I did have to wait several months for it. I placed my order in June and got it today (date of this review). It could have been due to manufacturing delays or shipping delays. Waiting doesn't bother me so much as long as I get my stuff in mint condition.
I do wish they offered free shipping for paying subscribers though. As I know a few figure sites that don't ask for shipping or it's included in the price you see while browsing.
All in all I'll keep this site on my list of figure buying sites, for now. And have subscribed to premium services.

I have been waiting for more than fifteen days for some kind of information or assistance, don't buy here, I don't think I will receive my comics and I have lost a lot of money.

Ho acquistato l'anno scorso una figure in preordine che sarebbe uscita quello stesso anno verso autunno. Purtroppo ho dovuto aspettare l'uscita fino a febbraio di quest'anno (non è colpa del negozio quindi non tenete in considerazione).
A febbraio ho scopro, dopo due settimane dall'uscita, che non era possibile spedire il mio pacco, dato che EMS ha avuto dei problemi e al momento non è operante. C'è voluto un mese perché mi cambiassero la spedizione da EMS a FedEx. (Si erano dimenticati di dirmi che dovevo aggiungere una carta di credito nuova per il pagamento)...
Finalmente pagato, me l'hanno spedita (60€ di spedizione) con "teoricamente" 3/5 giorni lavorativi, ma...
Credo che FedEx sia una delle peggiori compagnie, oltre a farmi pagare più di 60€ di dogana, il pacco mi è arrivato solo dopo 10 giorni... (Alla faccia dei 3/5 giorni)
Pacco ricevuto al secondo tentativo, dopo aver chiamato il servizio (A PAGAMENTO) perché devi concordare con FedEx la consegna...
Ora la mia figure finalmente è a casa! Ben impachettata, la confezione è arrivata perfetta senza neanche un graffio! Hanno aggiunto come regalo un clear file di miku hatsune (un po' tirchietti dato i 190€ di figure, potevano aggiungere qualcosa di più carino, ma ho apprezzato comunque).
Ora arriviamo ai problemi principali:
1 gli acquistati in preordine non possono essere annullati;
2 ma più importante è "il premium'... Inizialmente te lo fanno provare gratuitamente, facendoti risparmiare abbastanza sul tuo primo acquisto, non ti dicono direttamente che devi disdire subito questo abbonamento, non ti arrivano mail, se non sai niente rischi di scoprirlo solo quando ti hanno già preso i soldi! (14$ mensili) manco l'abbonamento a Netflix...
Io personalmente non acquisterò più da questo sito, per i problemi che ho avuto, ma in fatto di figure e gadget sono ottimi! Anche nell'imballaggio!

I have ordered and received 49 figures from them without issue since 2016, and have several more on order.
Packaging is top tier, although they use a lot of bubble wrap so maybe not as environmentally friendly if that's a concern to you.
For new customers, the main prices advertised are the prices for TOM Premium members (generally 5% off). You have the choice of joining the 30 day free trial of the Premium membership, but If you don't read I can see how you could mistakenly join the Premium programme. Auto-renewal is on by default, but from a product page it is only a 3 mouse click process to cancel the next renewal, and you have 30 days to read the order confirmation emails.
If you're a regular collector of figures I highly recommend joining the Premium membership. There are many cases where the TOM shop ends up cheaper in the long run compared to other online retailers, despite their slightly inflated prices. They also run promotions sometimes where they will pay half the shipping cost AND give you store credit, but even without those promotions the shipping prices are in-line with other Japanese retailers.
Sometimes they take longer to ship the item than other stores, but in my experience that's only been the case since COVID restrictions were implemented. It can be especially noticeable during holiday periods though.

Tom system is great if you took your time to understand it. Shipping during corona years got too expensive for me though, used to be cheaper and faster before.
Some figures gets postponed from their manufacturers, so it is not Otakumode faults all the time.

I’ve seen a lot of negative reviews for preorder figures but so far for me, there wasn’t any problems with in stock items. I ordered 2 art books which arrived a little over 2 weeks in perfect condition. Didn’t really mind too much about the TOM membership as I only wanted to get a few items and the books I wanted are quite difficult to find these days. They were still quite affordable even without the Membership. Probably useful if you’re planning to order a lot from them.

My preorder date is getting pushed forward infinitely for 7 months already and they do not allow refunds for it??? A definite scam, I have to contact my bank for my money back now.

I saw everyone's reviews about this site and thought that I actually can't judge this website, because I didn't have any experiences with returning items or having additional shipping charges. But anyways I need to say that the website responded to all my emails and helped me to understand where my package was. The shipping of my order was extremely long, I even thought that my item was lost, so when I finally received it I wanted to cry from happiness. Shipping problems aren't a fun thing, but the main concept of this site is figures. The figures here are packaged very nice and aren't overpriced. There was only one thing I was kinda angry about. When I was buying a figure I had a choice to pay 37$ or 22$. Of course I chose 22$. Then after a week or more I saw that the website took 15$ from my credit card. This money was taken for TOM special membership. I understand that it was completely my fault, but still I need to warn you from this stupid mistake. Overwall I am satisfied with my experience.
It's been almost a year now & still no package
It's been almost a year now since I put in my order & it still hasn't shipped. They keep pushing the date back & theres no reason for it. My friends who have ordered the same figure from other sites all recieved theirs awhile back.
I do not want to cancel because now the price is up on the figure, but honestly if they dont ship soon i may be forced to do that.
Definitely going to cancel my membership here too.

Extremely annoyed. They automatically charged me for a membership I wasn’t even aware of, and it costs quite a bit as well. What a horrible and unreliable site, never using it ever again.

So i have ordered from multiple different online places and TOM has been the most reliable one so far, the second being plaza Japan.
Toms prices are lower or comparable to most online stores I’ve seen. Only a few are cheaper, but the outrageous shipping cost of other sites aren’t worth it. Why would I spend $20 to ship to save $5 on the base price, when I can ship for $8 for a few $$ more.
People aren’t looking at the overall cost.
I do have premium and take advantage of their spend $150 get free shipping. And usually I save up enough to at least cover shipping an a figure in between big orders. I also take advantage of their large point bonuses (x15) and stuff and receive even more to use.
If you order a lot of preordered, this is the place to go. Sometimes they re-run older figures but you have to be fast to get them. They are usually gone by the time you get the email.
Also I don’t understand why everybody is mad at them not shipping during covid. They couldn’t ship and they gave out plenty of announcements. And it wasn’t just TOM it was everywhere. Just a bunch of spoiled teens and neck beards with daddy’s money and too much free time so they complain on the internet.
TLDR: TOM is awesome. The world isn’t perfect. Stuff happens. Go with the flow.
Don’t give TOM the opportunity
I’ve ordered a few anime figures from TOM in the past and up until recently, but man has the quality of this site gone down significantly. Their shipping and points policies are ridiculous. Having items needing to be releasing on the same month to count for their reduced shipping fee when prior to this change it was your entire order needed to reach the amount regardless of ship date. TOM points now can only be applied to a maximum of 20% for non premium members and 50% of the orders total for members of their abysmal premium service is laughable at best. With every figure I’ve recently ordered it’s been a constant struggle for it to ship. Waiting past their shipping window, contacting customer support about the order, them giving the generic response of, “it’ll ship very soon”. To then be waiting another week for the item not ship and for this entire egregious process to repeat until it ships. On top of this they overprice their figures by a ridiculous amount to the point where it’s a lot cheaper just to import the figure off of Amazon Japan. Their only redeeming value is that they debit you immediately upon purchase. Honestly, if you respect your time and money take your business elsewhere.
