Great certification.

My overall experience was great. Taking the exam online from home was easy, and the check-in process was straightforward for the most part.
The only issue I had was uploading photos of my testing environment. I wasn’t able to take them with my phone, so I had to use my laptop instead.
My biggest challenge was with some of the exam questions. Several were worded in a way that made them difficult to understand, and I found myself rereading them because the wording wasn’t always clear. Other than that, the online testing experience was smooth and convenient.

I passed the test AT/AT/AT. I have no clue how. I walked in fairly confident and felt like I had completely and utterly failed. I am a great test taker and went to a “public ivy”. I taught for 18 years. I know how to study, how to prepare, etc. I have never felt that way while taking a test before. I don’t even know what I would do differently to prepare, other than give PMI more money for access to study hall (which is a racket, you should get free access when you register for the test). This whole experience has proved to me that this is a racket.

It is such an overwhelming amount of information, which, for many, feels like an insurmountable climb. It would be better to provide real guidance in the 35 hour pre-requisite to focus on the $99 study hall material for PMI. It would just give people a more realistic view of what they will experience on test day.

The Study Hall is the best tool to study for this exam. I could not passed it without it.

It was okay . But so many grammatical errors

The PMI self-paced training course may be valuable for some, but I found it to be very unaligned with how I learn.

The practice exam that was part of the self-paced training did not reflect all of the question types on the actual exam.

There was not strong alignment between the course and the exam. The course had a structure that largely focused on sharing a list of tools and frameworks; the exam tested a small subset of those tools. This made me feel as though a good portion of my study, while teaching me new things, did not actually better prepare me for the exam.

PMI is certainly the leader in project management certification, but for folks not needing the certification for their job or job search, I would have a hard time recommending it.

I used to think getting a PMP certification really didn’t matter, or mean much personally. I was wrong. I benefited from the learning and study. It was a great reminder for me and I’d recommend it to anyone that is interested, and especially to those who may feel the same way I did.

Application process and the onsite exam experience are smoothly and good.

The PMP exam process was very professional and controlled. PMI communitated clearly when and where to be for the exam. On the day of the exam the instruction provided were clear. The exam application was simple and the response to my application was swift.

The application of this certification material was extremely relevant to my role as a CRM Administrator.

I honestly found the entire process demotivating. After 20 years of project management, taking a weeklong bootcamp, countless hours studying, and a 12-hour crash course, I was still scoring really low on the practice exams. I found myself putting it off again and again because I was discouraged by the fact I was scoring so poorly and it was stated that you should be getting 80%+ on the practice exams to pass, and it seemed the more I studied, the worse my practice exam scores got.

The questions were worded in a way to be confusing, finding the "most correct" answer out of a selection of correct answers seemed subjective, and a 4-hour exam is mentally draining, but I finally signed up for the exam before it changed in July just to get it out of the way, fully expecting I would not pass. I was shocked I passed and was Above Target in two areas.

I am not saying it should be so easy that anyone can pass it, but when the preparation makes you question your ability to perform in your decades long career and doubt your abilities, it doesn't make for a positive experience and seems counterintuitive.

As a professional with more than 25 years of experience across the public and private sectors, I found the PMP certification to be both challenging and highly rewarding. It has broadened my perspective on modern project management practices and reinforced the importance of delivering value to organizations.

The PMP exam study preparation was a journey. Starting with training and then developing a project manager mindset based on PMI core principles. The PMP exam itself was challenging and rewarding at the same time.

The challenge of PMP is awesome. The test really challenges you to find the best solution in real world situations and this skill will ultimately redound to your benefit .
