I'd give zero stars if possible
I'd give zero stars if possible.
Booked this for my husband for his birthday. Purchased in Nov. 2019. It is now November 2020 and my husband has still not driven a race car because they have cancelled the event three times. Each time they cancel they offer us only one possible reschedule date. Each time we have accepted the date and my husband has taken time off work. Now they want to reschedule him for March 2021. That is ridiculous! And they refuse to refund any of our money. They will have had our money for sixteen months by the time they plan to reschedule him and we have received no services at all in exchange for that money. Essentially they took our money and want to hold it indefinitely and we have received nothing. Plus, after having cancelled on us three times, I would be willing to bet that they will cancel the March 2021 date too. Stop holding our money hostage and give us a refund Rusty Wallace!
Do not give these people your money. You will never see it again and never get anything for your money.
PETTY HUSTLING AT REGISTRATION
THIS IS MY THIRD TIME DRIVING AT DOVER SPEEDWAY WITH RUSTY EXP. THE EXPERIENCE IS GREAT AND PERSONNEL VERY HELPFUL . MY GRIPE IS WITH REGISTRATION AND SOMETIMES STAFF. WANTED TO PURCHASE 60.00 INS. Drove in Indianapolis on Saturday Oct 3rd
Drove in Indianapolis on Saturday, Oct 3rd. Was an unexpected opening in the schedule for me - on their website 2 pm and 4 pm were the only openings (when we looked at 10 am and 11:30)(would not allow reservation online - may be due to the short notice)(tried the phone - no answer - then tried email - automated response Monday). When we got to the check-in trailer about 1:10 - Lady was a bit set back someone would walk up to register... We mentioned the website had openings at 2 -- "no way, we are overbooked as it is" - "we do have spots available for 4 pm - come back at 3:30"... Event was held at the Lucas Oil Raceway - their oval track... Fortunately, the NHRA drag strip was hosting motorcycles so we didn't have to leave the premises. Went back and signed up easy enough - then headed to the driver training class. BBB was great! Even though he was uninformed there was going to be a 4 pm class -- ended up being 3 drivers... BBB was very clear on what was expected and wanted any questions to clarity... Went back and had a great time with the ride along - then drove 10 laps (think the spotter - BBB - gave me 2 extra). He saw I was having difficulty -- mainly due to the windshield and the helmet visor was scratched up and I couldn't see the markers to get in the best drive groove - but he didn't know that since we can't talk back to the spotters via their radio... I did let him know afterward... All in all, it was a great time -- I could tell the crew were tired being there all day - but didn't give off any bad vibes for it... Will watch for it for the future!!!
Crooks who will not return your money
This is a very corrupt company. They took my money then canceled the event. They do not answer the phone or respond to emails. I have not received a refund because they want you to call for a refund however, they NEVER answer the phone or return your calls. This is FRAUD and your only option is to take them to court. DO NOT BOOK ANY EVENT with these crooks. It's all about money and you will never see your money again. Looking for a good attorney
My husband and I both drove a 5 lap…
My husband and I both drove a 5 lap experience. I believe we drove longer. Our teacher B3 did and excellent explaining all the rules and safety features that really helped me enjoy my experience. Its always been a dream to drive a racecar. Well I did it!!! What an adrenaline rush and a check off my bucket list. Would do it again. Highly recommend it. We drove at Lucas Stadium Raceway Indianapolis, In.
An absolute cluster
An absolute cluster that we had to make the best of. Really the only reason they're getting ANY stars is because my Dad has wanted to do this for so long that he was SO happy once he finally got to drive.
However, this company has A LOT of bumps to iron out and they need to do that before they charge people $200 for something. My dad arrived early and checked in. His class started on time and went fine. Then the waiting began. They coral all the drivers over to an area where they sit in the sun and for hours and wait their turn. No tent, no water, and no communication to the drivers about what's going on. One of the cars was down so that made it take longer. My dad's class time was 10:00 am and he didn't drive until 1:30 pm.
When he finally DID get to go, he was told on the radio to enter the track and then they guy on the radio yelled at for pulling out in front of other drivers. Visibility is extremely limited in the car and he was TOLD to enter the track.
One poor chick in the trailer registering TONS of people for hours who was obviously overwhelmed.
This can and should be done better. If we weren't ACTIVELY TRYING to maintain good attitudes this cluster would have been a major let down for something that was supposed to be a bucket list item for my dad.
Be aware, potential drivers!
The driving part was OK, although the cars felt quite beat up and the experience was too controlled and felt quite artificial. It took over 2 years to finally get a date without any issues - communication was always poor with RW, rude customer service. The insurance was more expensive than the rate they gave THE NIGHT BEFORE on an email message, no explanation - they tried hard to get your money. I bought 8 laps but I have no doubt that I did 6, at most. Careful, they tried to get you through all angles!
Amazing thing to experience but not with this company
The experience started out with a safety class. Very professional and easily understood. Art made you feel much more comfortable about going those speeds. But what he taught in the class completely changed when you got in the car. Very little that he said to expect actually happened.
After the class, there were only 4 medium helmets and 5 large helmets which are the most used sizes. People were waiting for helmets. Sanitizing measures were nothing like what was advertised on website or talked about in class.
The pit boss, Jason, did a great job of accommodating everyone’s needs. The whole pit crew did a great job.
The spotter was the worst part of the experience. We were told to never go outside the orange markers. Spotters told us to pass on the outside of the orange markers. He told me to pass one car on the outside. I started to go outside and the extreme car came flying past me. I almost took us both out because the spotter told me to go.
Afterwards, they checked the video I purchased and said the whole video was not there so they gave me a free t shirt to make up for it. When I got home and watched the video, there was only 3 laps out of 20 on the video. And the t shirt I got had “2017-2018 World Tour” on the back.
I would recommend taking the opportunity to experience this for anyone wanting to do it, but not with this company.
Not Following COVID19 process in Michigan International Speedway 9-19-2020
I'm giving this Rusty Wallace experience a very low rating for multiple reasons. Not following COVID 19 guidelines, Poor spotting, and Poor time management. Let's start with the GREAT aspects of this experience. Art, the instructor did a fabulous job explaining the rules and instructions for this experience. He gave my class the ability to ask questions and did an exceptional job. Jason the Pit Manager was friendly and did a good job as well. Driving the car was AWESOME! I purchased 20 laps and got 14. This was my first time doing this and loved every second learning and driving my car. The car had no issues and ran great. The issues mentioned earlier outweighed my excitement of driving the car when you look at the quality of the whole experience. The staff only had 4 medium and large helmets on hand which created a huge delay for people riding and driving that needed those helmets. My ride time was scheduled for 2pm with a brief class. I didn’t get track access until approximately 5pm.The helmets and demand for size, which was surprisingly a medium, delayed several peoples experience. The young lady handling the gear was not using the sanitization machine that a Rusty Wallace Driver said cost about $15,000. He confronted her about it and she gave a poor response. I politely explained that there is COVID concerns and that she was obligated to follow her companies and state guidelines to protect our interest. She then took a spray bottle of disinfectant, gave one squirt to the inside crown of the helmet, and said it was sanitized. The returned helmets and suits worn by others were treated the same way and put back on their racks for usage. I was extremely disappointed by the staff not following any COVID 19 guidelines for the gear to be worn and they were not even close to the process provided in my Rusty Wallace confirmation email I had received. Issues with my spotter. In the course we learned about entering the track, left & Lift, Lift & Go, staying in the markers, and the golden rule of no passing on the left. We are heavily instructed to listen to our spotter and if we get no communication in 3 laps to pull off the course into the pit area. Communication with your spotter is one way, they can't hear you at all. I was led to believe that the spotter handles more than one car while on the track and was given the impression that mine handled 3 cars while I was on the track. My 1st lap, I didn't make it onto the course because my spotter never cleared me to, and I pulled back into the pit. Jason, the Pit Manager talked with me and my Spotter also acknowledged the error in not clearing me to enter the track. I then followed instruction from my spotter again. This 2nd attempt to enter the track was the same result and I ended back into the pit. The spotter once said I looked good but never gave the green light for entrance on that attempt. On the 3rd attempt, the spotter had me enter the track immediately exiting the pit area. I never had steady communication from my spotter. There were times that I would follow a slower car for a full lap or two before permission to pass. These count as your laps by the way, so be warned. I did get the green light to pass multiple times, but they were always slow and 1-2 laps elapsed before permission. The communication was poor and not consistent with what Art was teaching my class at all. You expect to hear the same language taught in class. One driver error creates an issue for many others and track safety. I unfortunately did break the cardinal rule and went left of a vehicle. That was the fastest my spotter talked to me during this whole experience. He asked me to exit the course, which I agree with the decision (safety 1st). In my defense, which is seen on the video I purchased. This was the 3rd time to pass that driver. I followed a full lap, with no spotter communication, then that car broke went wide right of the green/orange track markers, closer to the wall. This is a NO NO unless instructed to pass. The driver slowed down and came close to the right side of my car. He was coming back down into the markers, next to me, I accelerated, to keep from getting hit, and was then asked to exit for breaking the no passing on left rule. I respect the spotter’s decision on this (safety 1st). In hindsight, I should have braked quickly to slide back and let that car back in front of me. The spotter should had communicated with me sooner and instructed me to pass or asked the other driver to move down. So again, I was extremely disappointed with the Spotters communication, others in my group had the same issue. The poor spotter communication, poor time management, and NO REGARD FOR COVID19 had a negative impact on my overall experience. I may pay the extra money to take my family and try an experience with a different racing company next year to compare.
Alot of fun
I did the 10 lap driving experience at M.I.S yesterday. Art was my instructor and did an amazing job. I purchased the ride and drive which I would recommend before going out on your own. That alone was a rush! I did purchase the video package online and the gopro was never put on the car so i didn't get a video. When i asked for my sd card she said that she could give me the plaque instead (which i wasn't going to purchase because i purchased the video) and i could get a free video the next time. It states if any video issue that i can be compensated at the track. Instead i was givien a plaque that i wasn't goingbto get.
SIGN ME UP AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN
WHAT AN AWESOME EXPERIENCE!! SIGN ME AGAIN!!! I had my racing experience Sunday, Sept 13 in Joliet. Lisa at check-in was extremely calm and cool even though she had a ton of people to check-in. Lisa explained the ride-a-long experience with a professional driver to me and I bought it. THANK YOU Lisa. It helped remove some of my jitters before I got behind the wheel. Ken, the instructor, is very thorough in his explanation of what to do. After I was told the cars are all stick shift, I don't know how to drive stick, Ken explained to me I am not the first. The pit crew will put you in 4th gear and push you out. It was the absolute truth. JD and pit crew pushed the car out and off I went. My kids purchased the 6 lap experience for me, I would have kept going if they would let me. Oh well guess others wanted to try it too. THANK YOU LISA, KEN, ANTHONY, JD AND THE ENTIRE PIT CREW THIS WAS AN EXTREMELY AWESOME EXPERIENCE.
Amazing Racing Experience
Went to Evergreen Raceway in Johns PA. Most fun I have ever had. 1/3 Mile short track. Have done Racing Experiences before, This by far was the Best. The People were amazing, helpful, nice, appreciative, and so enthusiastic. Can't wait to go again.
Buyer Beware
Very disappointed in the scattered and unprofessional handling of our racing experience. Very long wait time sitting in the sun in the hot suit due to a crash on the track. Also very poor guidance once inside the car as to how to proceed. The last straw was when they forgot to take my boyfriend's picture in the professional jumpsuit and instead took the picture in his tee shirt and shorts. The expensive plaque that we purchased is worthless and they would not refund my money. Buyer beware

Keep track of laps!!!!
Just wanted to share my recent experience with Rusty Wallace Racing Experience. I have had the best customer service every time I have called to rebook my driving experience. I have booked it a good 5 times and it got rained out every single time. I was finally able to go this past Sunday. The instructions did not have the gate number (on the email) but I called Jen and her voicemail gave me the exact directions, which was extremely helpful. Check in and registration was fast and easy. Had absolutely no issues at all. We then attended the orientation class, which was about 45 minutes. It was an amazing time because we heard so much information and people asked great questions. The orientation was led by Dan, who was great and provided lots of safety tips and guidelines. Everyone wore masks and we were spaced out in orientation, which was nice. Then, my boyfriend went to get his suit and helmet, which was clean. We then went outside, and the staff was really helpful with getting him into his car. It was definitely a bucket list experience. However, I booked 15 laps and my boyfriend only drove 8 or 9 laps. I ran up to the staff member and told him that he only drove 8 or 9 laps because I recorded every time he went around a turn, to help me keep track. The staff member radio-ed another staff member, who said that he did 15 laps. They let him do a 4-lap drive along with a pro, which was really disappointing because I paid for 15 laps. Not to mention, there were 2 gentlemen in front of us who had miscalculated laps. There was only one person keeping track of all 6 cars that were out on the track. One gentleman got called into pit road after 6 laps, even though he booked 12. The staff member let him go back into the car and drive the other 6 laps. There was another guy who drove 10 laps and got called in to pit road and it turns out he had 2 more laps to go, which the staff member let him finish. I am not sure exactly why my boyfriend only did half of the laps, but I was really angry at the staff. It was ridiculous, because it is $15/per additional lap and they didn’t calculate correctly, which isn’t right or fair. I would recommend the experience but please keep track of your own laps!!!
Went to the Dells Raceway Park this…
Went to the Dells Raceway Park this past weekend. They we very unorganized, waited almost 3 hours before my husband’s name was called and he was one of the first ones to sign in first. Due to the hot weather conditions there was no shade or tents provided for. Then we paid for 20 laps and my husband only got to do 12 because one of the drivers could not follow directions hits the car my husband is in and both get called off the track. Very unsatisfied with this place.
Great Experience
I went to Seekonk and had a great Experience. Although very hot, it was outweighed by fun. The car was fast, and loud as it should be. I believe it says to expect to be there for 2 to 2.5 hours and I think I was in and out at just under 2. Waiting is never fun, but they had shade tents so not too bad. Another driver crashed his car and so I had to stop in the middle of my run and wait for ambulance, track clean up, etc..But they gave me an ice water and sent me back out. Well worth it. I was torn about buying insurance, but after seeing a guy hit the wall I am glad I purchased, just for ease of mind! I totally recommend the Rusty Wallace Experience, and would do it again.
Art, The instructor
The instructor, Art, at Kil-Kare race track was professional. He knew what he was talking about. Safety was priority! Rules were clear. I had an awesome once in a lifetime experience. Adrenaline rush lasted for 3 to 4 days afterwards.
18th birthday Gift. AWSOME & GO-Pro Let down
I purchased a 6 lap racing package and also a 3 lap ride along for my son's 18th birthday present. This was a dream of a lifetime. Racing experience was awesome! Go Pro experience not so awesome. The first 5 minutes of the recording was of him sitting in car waiting to go. It recorded the next 2 laps and then shut off. On the ride home all he talked about was posting the video of him passing a car in the turn and unfortunately none of it was recorded. They tell you to view video before you leave, which we did .... but they did not play entire video and we had no idea that they just stop recording after a certain amount of time. The video in the ride along was 3 other peoples also. Shame on them such a disappointment! The PP insurance was suppose to be $60 but when we arrived we had to pay $75.
To hot
Was really looking forward to this, till... registration took forever, hour waiting in 90 deg. Heat 43 percent humidity with no shade. Then an hour for class. After that you get your suit and helmet, then go outside and again wait in line with no shade to get in a car. Did the ride along and the driver said we'll make it a fast ride cause it's 130 deg. In the car and he's been in it for a while. After the 3 laps, I stand in line again, I eventually overheated and had to go inside to cool off. Went out and waited in the line again and ended up getting heat sick and almost past out. couldn't continue to wait any longer, I had to forfeit my laps. I wasn't the only one who got over heated. They need to streamline getting you through registration and have planned groups to get into the car without the long lines. Also, should have shade tents and water that you don't have to pay $2 a bottle for. They told me to call the head office to see if they can reschedule me. Just my experience and opinion.
if I could give zero stars I would
if I could give zero stars I would. while the experience was good, they are a bunch of scammers, we bought of groupon, we went early, they started late, then after the class and registration, after my husband added video and insurance and spent about $250, the "manager", came to us telling us that because so many showed up and they overbooked, they will need to get 4 people rescheduled, we were cherry picked. we agreed because there was really nothing we can do, everyone was in the line. we tried to rebook but they cancelled events, we eventually were able to do it but they did not honor the video and insurance we purchased. we had to repurchase them, I acted ok about it because it was a gift to my husband but I was fuming inside. NEVER DO THIS!
