We won a case against inflated rent and got our full deposit back! We had a mould issue in the apartment and were looking for help online, that is how we actually found out that our rent should be lower. Guys from Rent Hero helped us all the way with every aspect in connection to the case. They were very helpful and patient as the case was a bit more complex than the usual rent reduction. It is very sad and unfair that some landlords use the lack of knowledge of the expats in Copenhagen. So I strongly advise to look into your rental and use the help of Rent Hero :)

After leaving a Danish rental apartment we battled our ex-landlord for 6 months to get our deposit back. After pursuing the matter ourselves and with the help of a student legal association, eventually the landlord claimed that he could not find workmen to carry out painting and cleaning after we left, and billed us for 5 additional months rent after moving out, to compensate himself for this period. We then took the case to Rent Hero expecting a protracted court proceeding, and they took us on as clients on a “no cure-no pay” agreement after reviewing all the materials and correspondence thoroughly. Within 1 month, they secured our entire deposit back, and got the landlord to waive the repair and cleaning costs and the additional rent charge. We had the money in hand 30 days after giving them the case and really felt a great sense of justice in the outcome. As foreigners navigating the Danish systems we would highly recommend Rent Hero and will forever be grateful for their speed and professionalism.

After moving out, the landlord charged us with a 35000 kr bill without inviting us the the check out inspection and we contacted Alex and Mads for help.

Mads is a fantastic lawyer! He gathered all the information he needed to go to the Rent Board Control. He kept us updated all the time by telling us all the conversations he had with the landlord and the board and asked for all the documents he needed.
After the Rent Board Control decision, who was in the favor of the landlord, even if he illegally provided an email that never existed, Mads took the matter in his hands and went to the Danish Court and won the case.
After checking the amount of money we got back from the annual recalculation, he submitted another case and won it in a very short time.

I contacted Alex and Mads to discuss about a rent reduction for the apartment i rent. They were both very knowledgeable around the topic and very quick on their responses. Ps. RentHero tried to block this review but now it’s verified. I only imagine there are 100s of 1-star reviews out there about RentHero, which they succeeded in blocking because people don’t want to go through the Trustpilot verification process.

I am extremely satisfied with Rent Hero! I didn't have to do a single thing! Alex and Mads took care of everything, made sure I was comfortable on every step of the process and most importantly, managed to reduce my rent by 50% and get back the overpaid amount from all previous months (In total 45000 DKK). I couldn't recommend Rent Hero more!

To anybody reading this, RentHero has tried block review but it has now been verified by Trustpilot. Please do not believe all the positive reviews here as RentHero. RentHero has changed its answer several times, which is also sort of funny - like they cannot agree with themselves which lie to tell…

Rent”Hero” offers really poor legal advice.

In our case it left us without housing and with a long case, which we did not win.

Afterwards, we learned that we did not need them but could have submitted the claim on our own for free, less than 500DKK.
RentHero however denied us to quit our contract with them and we were stuck without a solution.

Please also read the warning from official actors like the nationwide Danish tenants Organization LLO. They write on their website:

“Warning: Cyber based companies like Rent Hero or Rent Guide offer help online. If you choose letting them represent you, you will pay an excessive amount of money, if they win your case.”

LLO is not a competitor to RentHero. They are an honest UNION protecting tenants’ legal rights.

So while you are thinking that you have put the screws to your landlord - really Alex and Mads have put them to YOU and ruined your relationship with your landlord …

I don’t know Jurgen, Rasmus or Amalia or others criticizing RentHero on this site and other platforms but it’s clear that RentHero has a problem with their business model that many get stuck in.

The problem is that their business model is to twist the law and try to get overpriced settlements - where they take 50%!! So RentHero has massive interest in NOT letting you exit once you discover the truth ! In my case, we were not allowed to leave the contract and I highly doubt that anybody is allowed to do so now without paying massive fees.

We wanted to bring the case forward to the consumer ombudsman - but guess what? THERE IS ALREADY A CASE AGAINST RENTHERO FOR THEIR ILLEGAL PRACTICE. Wanna know more - just google RentHero & forbrugerombudsmand.

So with RentHero you get OVERPRICED settlements, where RentHero TAKES half of your money and thereby RIPS OFF you and your landlord and you get a contract that YOU CANNOT EXIT.

The service provided, was of a high quality. The whole process only took couple of weeks and my rent got reduced by almost 25 %. Highly recommend to all fellow expats who are being overcharged by their landlors

Really good experience, they made everything! We didn’t have to worry about anything, and we only paid their salary, nothing more, nothing extra. In less than a month they resolve the situación, we only read the contract and sign. I definitely recommend them.

We've used a similar service in the city we've lived before and were very glad to see that Rent Hero did the same thing in Danmark. We've lived in a very old building in the Indre By of Copenhagen. The building should have had a rent cap, i.e., a max. that landlords/ladies can request as rent per square meter. So, we were quite convinced from the beginning that we pay way too much. Thanks to the great service of Rent Hero we received approximately 50 % of the rent total we've paid in the 1.5 years we lived in the said apartment back from our landlord, without having to do ANYTHING. They took so well care of all of it and we were more than happy to pay them their fee, which we paid with money, we would not have without their services.
10/10 - We 100% recommend this company (especially for expats, since they're the ones who get screwed over by audacious landlords/ladies most because they're an easy catch as they don't know the language or law).

Me and my husband can only highly recommend Rent Hero Services. From the first contact with Alex the whole process was very smooth, friendly and pleasent. We were explained from the beginning what are our options and recommended the best approach to take. After 6 months of paying overprices rent we moved out of the place and Alex with Mads helped us to retrospectively get the overpaid money back. In the end we came to a settlement with our former-landlord very fast so the whole action took only around 2 months.

Submitted a case to Rent Hero which got in my favor, after almost 2 years (pandemic helped). In general, the experience is great. Alex explains in detail what he will do in advance and what can happen next. My case had to go to court and I got to say that when the lawyer got involved, then I understood some previous decisions and why we are moving to court. My experience with Rent Hero (and based on other friend's cases with them) is that everything goes smoothly until your case goes to court. Then, it's up to talk with a lawyer (Rent Hero takes care of that) and Rent Hero goes silent here. It's always a bummer having to deal with another entity when you started everything with Rent Hero. Nevertheless, still recommended!

Most of us usually feels "intimidated" when it comes to negotiating with the landlords as we live in their places and our deposits are in their hands! Even we all know the laws on our side, we dont know how to exercise and leverage them to our advantage - that's where RentHero comes to the rescue!

I contacted Alex as my landlord mischarged me for an appliance which was under his responsibility to maintain! Even the fee was so small that I couldnt start a case with Alex, he was still willing to spend several days to carefully explain the laws and what I should do to protect myself for my upcoming moving out. I had my trust with RentHero since then.

Upon moving out, I resorted to RentHero again to help me with the overcharging rent that I have paid. I didnt have any high expectation as I knew my landlord (and his lawyer) were not easy to deal with and they always maintain an aggressive manner to the tenants. To my surprise, Mads and Alex managed to collect enough verdicts from our local court to build a firm ground for their negotiation - for the first time, I saw my landlord and his lawyer backed down and agreed on the new reduced rent!

During the process, I was always informed on what happened and next steps, this transparency gave me much confidence that my case would be a win.
