Time will tell if the quality of the chicken is as I came to expect from my initial order.

Ive mainly ordered chicken from Saffron Alley about 3 times. The first time I was please, the meat was clean, didn't smell and seemed good quality. Delivery was in the morning. The meat was cold but not -2c as claimed on the website.
However, the most recent time my order was quite large, over 8kg. The meat came in a cardboard box that looked like it had been thrown around. There were only 2 ice gel packs that were completely defrosted so sadly some of the meat had to be thrown out. It was grey and smelt bad! Which makes me think the meat isn't as fresh as they claim?
The rest of the chicken was okay, but sadly a little smelly.
Customer service isn't great, as there is no email address that ic lould find to give my feedback. There was a number, but I'm not sure the person on the other end of line fully understood what I said.
Overall, I've not been overly impressed. The claims on the website sound reassuring. Other that my order at the beginning of November '25, I've not been too happy with what we've recieved. Its sad that standards have dropped..

Can do much better
Pros
Access to grass fed meat, easy ordering and delivery. Has some good cuts. Customer service emails are relatively efficient.
Cons
There have been several issues with the meat from this store.
1. Leg mince with excessively high fat content
2. Lamb shoulder with neck pieces in the bag and too many bones
3. Badly butchered qurbani meat
4. Smelly chicken meat
5. Irregular cuts
6. Extremely unhealthy additives
7. Chicken with bruised bones
Despite informing them of the issues it is appearing they have unethical standards. Do not buy any of their processed or minced products.
Read the labels carefully.

Turkey - Free range and grass-fed
Ordered the grass-fed free range Turkey. Although it came a day late (courier fault) the turkey was absolutely delicious. I have never had such a juicy tender chicken. I did brine the turkey which probably helped too. It was a bit pricey but well worth it for odd occasions.

Reasonably okay
I have been regularly ordering because of the quality meat. However I think the cuts need to be better. The size of boti is often large.

The Best!
The choice of food is large and essentially the animals are farmed halal and not just slaughtered halal.
I think the minimum order for delivery is very reasonable and the honestly the quality of meet is outstanding.
So far I have tried a variety of Chicken, beef and lamb options inc chicken livers
The customer service is 5*
So happy for such a business to exist as I often feel conflicted about the source is the meat and farming practices.
Could not recommend highly enough!

UPDATE:
Saffron Alley got in touch with me and informed me of the changes that they're going to implement to alleviate some of the concerns I had listed in my original review. I really appreciate how they actually took in the feedback and are making real effort to improve; not exactly common nowadays! They did what they could to make things right and their customer service alone makes this an option to consider above other competitors. I look forward to trying them again, they have a great range of unique products that you'd be hard-pressed to find at your local halal butchers.

This was my first order from Saffron…
This was my first order from Saffron alley. I ordered 4 ribeye steaks, 2kg chicken wings, 1kg beef mince, 1kg lamb mince and 2kg of chicken breast. Everything came in freezer ready packaging that kept well.
First the steaks. Flavour was absolutely delicious. Slightly thicker than I like so had to cut it in half. One didn't smell great (bit eggy) so got thrown away.
Chicken wings were the best wings ive ever had. Very fresh and no bleeding under the skin or broken wings, only query is one bag was double joint one one flats & drums. I don't know why but would like the option to choose.. Will definitely purchase those again.
Lamb mince I just didn't like, overground and smelled terrible. Beef Mince was very nice but again over ground. So I don't think ill buy the mince again.
I haven't used the chicken breast yet but they looked good.

Safe to consume?
So am used to shop from Saffron Alley,
But this time I wasn't very impressed by my delivery and am questioning if is even safe to consume what I ordered
So today I received some beef fat and found some cycst and when trying to cut it in cubes I have found yellow colour inside the fat so is this safe?
And one pc of ribs I have ordered was gray looking so very not impressed about this .

On the points you mentioned: colour variation in beef fat can sometimes happen naturally (fat can range from white to cream/yellow depending on factors like diet and the cut), and some pieces can also have small glands/knots that are normally trimmed during prep. That said, if you’ve found anything that looks unusual (such as cyst-like spots) or if there’s any off smell/slimy texture, we’d always advise not consuming it and letting us investigate urgently.
For the ribs looking grey: some meats can appear darker/greyer due to normal oxidation and how they’ve been vacuum packed, but it should not smell unpleasant or feel sticky. If you’re unsure, please don’t eat it; our team will review it with priority.

Oh my that turkey was good
The best Christmas turkey ever. Succulent, tasty, no dryness at all. Arrived in perfect condition on the day I wanted it and was obviously very fresh with zero odour (so very high quality). The whole family agree it was the best we’ve had and we’re now fighting over the left overs. Thank you 🙏😊

Good quality meat
This company have good standard of meat quality and good packaging, everything arrives fresh and well packed, the only thing I would prefer if the mince meat, the beef and lamb mince was less minced, it looks too purred after cooking a bit like a chicken liver pate.
But apart from that, I like this company no issues at all.

I love the quality of meat AH
I love the quality of meat AH. However in this occasion one of the packets were not sealed properly making the juices leak out.
Also I was quite disappointed with the way the chicken was cut. Being the daughter of a butcher I am very particular about how this should be done - it felt really rushed and was messy.
But I do recommend you to family and friends and think they would all have the same opinion.
