Brilliant trip from start to finish, great food and fantastic staff. Visited some lovely vineyards in Bordeaux and had some fabulous trips out

From the minute my plane landed I was looked after .
All crew were brilliant .
Food was fantastic and local guides were first class as usual .
This last cruise was my seventeenth so it is obvious how much I enjoy them .

It is a fantastic company to travel with. The service is excellent as are the staff. Everything is included. It has extra special experiences which other cruises don’t like for example concerts in chateaux or church’s. On our recent cruise we had a chocolate and wine pairing which was very different. There are an amazing selection of excursions to beautiful destinations. On the Seine cruise we even had Richard the Lion Heart as a guide. Makes experiences more memorable. Scenic go the extra mile.

There were too many days with no landings or very short landings. The ship was nice but not "6-star luxury". The food was between OK and good. The trip was mis-sold, in that the wildlife was pretty non-existent, the all-inclusive-ness only included mediocre wines (the sommelier said "if it's all-inclusive, you won't get very good stuff") and worst of all, we booked Scenic because of the submersible. One of the guides said it hardly ever works. I shan't book Scenic again.

We have had many great trips with Scenic and would have achieved Emerald status before a trip in August 2026 if they hadn’t increased the number of points needed (oh, and seriously reduced the benefits offered).

Generally, it’s a good product and cruises are truly “all inclusive” unless you want to use the services of the masseur/beautician, or purchase really high-end alcohol. The service on board is excellent and staff work incredibly hard to make cruises special. Food is fine, but not always “fine dining” and the Portobello offering (offered to all guests on river cruises ) is nice, but not exceptional. Food onboard the Eclipse is extremely good.
Decor now looks a little dated as it’s been the same design for at least 10 years on the river ships. The gym is small but adequate (lower deck) but the pool offerings on most ships are poor. Some have no pool/jacuzzi at all.
TV offerings are poor, (BBC news and maybe a couple of other free, boring channels, which are not always available, even in Europe; and WiFi has been slowed down significantly, to the point when email attachments take far too long to download. The ships are all incredibly clean, however. (Some of the towels etc need replacing as many are frayed).
Toiletries are ESPA, but I’m not sure if it’s a cheaper, hotel line, (they’re clearly decanted from large bottles, as these can been seen in the kits the cleaners bring round) as they don’t seem to smell as nice as products in the shops.

Recent low water levels in Europe have caused chaos and Scenic have been terrible at making decisions in an acceptable time frame - even though they can clearly see how low the water is. Revised itineraries have been offered, (ours was sent to us only an Hour or so before their office shut, with some flights scheduled to leave at 6am the following morning) only to find out that this itinerary was drastically changed when guests arrived on board the ships.
Entertainment on board the Jasper was poor during this time. Quizzes almost every night, apart from one disco night and one Enrich event off the ship. No musicians other than that.

So, back to the loyalty system. Not worth the almost quarter of a million pound per guest spend to get the rubbish benefits. Despite STILL being advertised as a benefit of attaining Emerald level (the loyalty leaflet shows various small perks, which are slightly different on the rivers or Eclipse Ocean ships) , we had this:

“With regard to the massage, unfortunately, this is no longer a service we have offered onboard for some time. However, given the circumstances and as a gesture of goodwill, I would be very happy to see whether I can arrange a complimentary massage for you during your next cruise in January.”

It may interest you to note that one of their travel experts at a show near Manchester (early September, last week as I write this) told me and my friends that this free massage WAS STILL one of the “many benefits”.

Our cruise on the Douro River was first class. The accommodation was great, the staff were, without exception, friendly and courteous - endlessly patient and efficient. The food was high quality; the trips and entertainment excellent. We couldn't have enjoyed it more.

professiiolism of the organisation from admin and booking to the holiday itself. The excusions were all of a high quality. Every care and attention was given to making it a premiere experience. The ivists were superb. The staff at every level could not be faulted.
Everything was very well managed.
The one suggestion I would make is to offer a small meal portion, to avoid waste and to ensure that guests are not overfaced.

Scenic Opal was wonderful.
The food, drinks and service were all excellent.
Crew were fantastic in every way, helpful, friendly and informative.
Under very difficult circumstances, the Captain and his officers did an amazing job navigating the low waters of the River Danube.
The Cruise Director was a hero organising and reorganising the itinerary and ports as required due to the difficult river conditions.

All of the staff were very professional in their duties.

Exceptional service throughout, many very interesting daily tours so we were kept very busy and fully engaged with all that was available. All trips were explained in detail the previous evening so you knew exactly what to expect
Food and beverages were of the highest standard and special dietary requirements were handled without any trouble. We had a most enjoyable trip and will certainly book again with Scenic.

The crew/staff were like a family together which made our experience very special.

We enjoyed our cruise so much we have booked the longer 11 day Douro cruise for next year.

This was our first taste of River cruising as we are usually Ocean cruisers. All I can say is that Scenic were absolutely incredible, from their genuine friendliness on board, the top level of service given and the excellent quality of food on board, we felt like we were dining in a top restaurant each day. Although our cruise was disrupted by the water levels on the Rhine, Scenic and all their staff went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and that we were kept in the loop at all times as to what was happening, so we had the least disruption possible. Would we do a River Cruise again with Scenic? In a heartbeat!

The Company contacted us about 10 days ago to state that owing to low water level on the Rhine our cruise would have to be modified - we could either proceed , have voucher valid for two years , or full money refunded. We decided to proceed but on Wednesday we changed our mind and the Company allowed us to take the voucher offer just three days before the actual holiday started

Staff lovely trips well organised

The whole experience was great - all inclusive without exception.
The crew were so friendly and attentive from the moment we arrived on board until they all waved from the deck as we left in the coach.
The itinerary was comprehensive with excellent choices for every day - it was difficult to choose which activity to do!
Food and service on board were excellent and when we were on a whole day trip we were always taken out for a lovely lunch.
Sadly, we didn't get to cruise all that we had hoped when booking, but this was due to exceptionally low water levels on the river which was out of the control of Scenic. Alternative arrangements were made and everyone was accommodated in the best possible way.
I would happily book with Scenic River Cruises again and I would have no hesitation in recommending them.
