Very timely advice in helping me select the best company and configuration of solar panels, inverter and batteries to suit my needs.
Plus a handy checklist to aid compiling my shortlist from the surprisingly large number of suppliers and installers who came out of the blue as soon as I showed interest in Solar PV !!!

We were impressed with the supplier recommended to us by Solar-Sherpa.

Solar Sherpa sent me three filtered-for-quality solar installation firms. One didn't get in touch, one was reasonably good, and the third one was excellent. None of them hassled me at any stage, and I got good advice from the excellent company, with whom I'm currently arranging an installation. Solar Sherpa themselves also sent out quite a few emails with advice and warnings about things to think of and things to beware of with solar companies. All of this for no charge: they are transparent about the fact that they collect a fee from the companies they recommend, but my impression is that they really do endeavour to recommend only good companies.

This service is legitimate. It genuinely is a couple of people in Sweden running it.

They introduced me to three professional and useful installers and I have chosen one of them.

Solar-Sherpa provided 3x companies who provided a first class response by getting in touch within 48 hours. Following initial consultation reports on panel number(s), battery type, costs & expected savings were issued by the 3x companies for deliberation.
What was extremely useful were email updates received from Solar—Sherpa that provided helpful unbiased advice on assisting in analysing the information presented so that an informed decision could be made.

Solar Sherpa provided 3 different installers, 2 of which quoted and one that I had no contact from at all. Went with one of those that quoted, now waiting for date for intallation.

Not what they say they are at all. Avoid. I - like another review on here - didn't notice that I was filling in a form for quotes. The difference is NOT obvious. There are notes throughout the form saying 'we won't pass on your number' and then lo and behold, I'm being contacted by three installers!

The first installer that contacted me as 'recommended' said that it 'wasn't possible to install on a flat roof' as panels need to sit at an angle. What?! Flat roof mounting, on an angle, is commonplace! The women had no idea and said they only install on slate and concrete tile and that flat roof was specialist. It's not. This is a supposed 'vetted' company. What a joke.
The website does zero enquiry to the type of installer you want i.e. I had no 'recommendations' for a local ONLY installer. They all operate nationally. Just not what they say they are and I have zero faith in the process. It's all just lead generation.

I found Alex and Gustav during an extensive search for a domestic solar installation (panels, inverter and battery), thinking I had already settled on a good price for the most appropriate hardware and installer. However, after working through their well-researched advice, I switched to another installer, offering similar components and warranties etc. but for £4k less. It pays to trust expert independent advice and to shop around. My thanks to Solar Sherpa for doing the heavy lifting.

I looked at 8 solar installers and when I rated them the top three were recommended installers by Solar-Sherpa. Excellent advice through numerous emails giving the reader advice, tips, what to look out for and more importantly, what not to look out for! Highly recommended if you are contemplating a solar system.

We found the check lists and information provided by solar sherpa very helpful in deciding how to proceed with solar panel and battery installation. Once you start looking it can be overwhelming looking through all the options and you can end up with lots of options.
We went with one of their recommended installers and had a really good experience.

I went to Solar Sherpa and filled in all their questions accurately and their recommendation was to install a battery.

I then went to my PV supplier and found out how much I export to the grid. I then calculated that I would save £105 a year based on a battery of 95% efficiency. This means it would take over 20 years to make back the installation cost for a £2500 system and most systems are more than this. Payback time should never be more than 7 or 8 years so I would be wrong to pay for a battery
