For those who know their craft but are stuck on the business side of their tutoring business, The Teacher Project is great. If you put in the work and follow the steps, you will succeed.

I started the program while having three kids aged 6 and under, two of whom have special needs, so I was on a whole other level of burnout with little time to invest in the business. If I could do it, anyone can.

Knowing how to teach is the foundation, but there's so much more that goes into running a successful tutoring business, and that's exactly what you learn in the program, step by step.

The curriculum is great and gives you a solid foundation, but what really took me by surprise was the supportive community of teachers and the smaller weekly calls with our coach. He holds us accountable, challenges us, encourages us, and celebrates our wins along the way.

I am well into my third year working with The Teacher Project, and honestly, I am still shocked at how much our business has grown. In 2023, I had zero students, and I had just left the classroom. Now in 2026, we have had over 150 students enroll in our programs. Not only that, but my husband, Gary, works alongside me, and we lead a team of 4 highly qualified teachers, as well as an office manager. And with Coach Matt giving us sound advice and encouragement at every crossroad we come to, it's almost impossible NOT to be successful!

Additionally, I just attended my third Live Event hosted by The Teacher Project--this time in London. Each year the Live Events grows in deliberate structure and content, and this one was exceptionally impactful. I came back to the business with new and exciting ideas, ways in which to leverage cutting edge technologies to create systems, and methods to improve the entire student journey--from first enrollment to retention. Not only that, coaches helped problem solve areas of constraint, as well as encouraged out-of-the-box thinking. I am truly grateful to have been a part of collaboration process.

I joined The Teacher Project about five weeks ago because I needed help with advertising, sales, and the confidence to know I was building my tutoring business properly.

Before joining The Teacher Project, I was stuck in the cycle that so many teachers find themselves in. I loved helping children, particularly those with SEND, but I was constantly moving between burnout and recovery whilst working in a system that I knew wasn’t serving the children who needed the most support.

Deep down, I knew teaching in its current form wasn’t sustainable for me long-term, especially if I wanted a family one day. I also knew that staying inside the system wasn’t going to allow me to create the change I wanted to see. My long-term goal has always been bigger than tutoring alone – opening my own alternative provision and contributing to educational reform – but I couldn’t see a realistic path from where I was to where I wanted to be.

In my first 12 weeks in the programme, whilst still working full-time as a teacher, I’ve made 7 sales and launched BrightRoots Learning. More importantly, I now have confidence that there is a genuine path forward. For the first time, I can see how to build a business that makes a real difference to children whilst also creating the freedom and flexibility that teaching no longer provides.

I’m still at the beginning of the journey, but I genuinely believe I can build this into a £10k-a-month business and use it as a vehicle to create meaningful change for the children and families who need support the most.

When I joined The Teacher Project, I was hopeful, but also a bit anxious. Like many teachers, I had spent years hearing about side business opportunities that sounded great but rarely delivered meaningful results.

What has impressed me most is that I'm only about halfway through the curriculum, and I've already generated nearly $5,000 in revenue through my tutoring business.

That said, I don't want to give anyone the impression that this is some kind of magic formula. It isn't.

The Teacher Project provides a proven framework, coaching, and support, but you still have to do the work. I'm seeing the negative reviews. I just received a text message from them today. And I was thinking, "The Teacher Project? Who are they?" I had to go back in my email from 2022. They contacted me after 4 years of saying no to them. I thought I was the only one who experienced a bad vibe. I met with Steve in July 2022. After listening, I wasn't sure if the program was for me, but I told him I would think it through. He got angry with me for saying that. I told him that I never make a large investment without thinking it through. He got even angrier, saying that I wasn't committed. Why would I commit to something that I was unsure would even fit my needs?? After we met, I sent him an emailthat said, "I've determined to go with another coach that is aligned to help me reach my professional goals holistically." His response was, "It seems my focusing our conversation around the importance of marketing has given you the wrong impression on what this actually is...By holistic do you mean organically." It was as if he didn't understand that if a program doesn't make me feel good holistically (not just financially), then it wasn't going to work. i'm glad i didn't go for this program. They pinged my cell phone after 4 years...today. I forgot who this group was until now.

Leaving the classroom to start my own tutoring business was honestly quite daunting, and at the beginning I felt very lost. What has really helped is being part of such a supportive community — there are always people willing to help and offer advice when you need it.

I am retired and was looking to keep myself busy and earn money to purchase a new house. It was extremely overwhelming at first as starting a new business and working with programs I had not used before was more challenging than I had expected. My coach Matt, made sure I had the time needed to stay on my feet. I also found others in the community that were extremely supportive. I found an accountability group that met daily to help me stay on task and get things done. (ADD here). I now know how to use AI to decrease my workload and put my creativity into action. They give you the framework but you have to build the rest. However, someone is always there to help! Before finding The Teacher Project I felt like the world around me was passing me by and I was just getting older.
