Worst bank in the world, even their customer service are confused and gives the wrong advice + don't know what to do. Just open with gotyme or gcash because BDO is useless

DO NOT BE FOOLED

DO NOT BE FOOLED! BDO is the most unreliable bank in the Philippines pretending to be one of the best bank in the Philippines. Just to name a handful:
[1] Intrusion protection system is using one of the oldest and most annoying and time-consuming system (15 second wait and sometimes repeats) when other quality banks already opted for non-intrusive protection;
[2] OTP Generator service has been down for more than FOUR (4) years that they could have just said they don't have that service anymore;
[3] OTP via SMS fails to send SMS most of the time for international numbers for more than ONE (1) year already (I had a PH number before and sometimes had issues but can't verify this now). This has never happened for a New Zealand number more than a year ago and definitely not a carrier issue as SMSC messages are originating from BDO's crappy provider.
[4] They keep on pushing users to transfer from "BDO Digital Banking" (legacy) app to new "BDO Online" app when they are not yet able to completely provide the service that the legacy app provides (e.g., securities reporting). If BDO is a New Zealand company it has already been investigated by the NZ government for their pathetic QoS.
[5] BDO customers has the HIGHEST victim of scams that target mostly retirees and the uninitiated, worse it is well suspected that a number of these are even INSIDE JOBS that BDO customers already can't even trust BDO staff.
[6] Do a comparative QoS of different Philippine banks, and listen to the feedback of consumers (just be wary of inauthentic "click farms" and paid "online armies"). I won't mention another bank here so as not to be biased, but BDO obviously DO NOT CARE about their middle-class and lower-class customers, and even for their upper-class and international customers their QoS is lacklustre more so a joke if compared to New Zealand banks.

I am waiting to visit the Philippines to close my BDO account and transfer to that another bank that I personally know has improved heaps better through the years, especially for QoS on outward remittance service.

P.S.: I am still a stock investor of BDO so definitely not a biased post. I am talking about their quality of service, not their cunning to do business and make money which is a different story altogether.

BDO Long Waiting Time

There's a long wait time to open a payroll account even though you already have an appointment. I arrived at 9:16AM, and I waited more than an hour to be accomodated. There's only one teller window that's open, when in fact ang dami naman ng window for opening an account sana. Slow service. Rating it one star.

Worst customer support experience
I was trying to reconnect my phone number several times through the hot line "24/7" (pure lie - they don't even serve you in banking hours) - they asked me to go directly in the branch when I applied for the card initially (7 years ago!). So I was supposed to drive through the entire island to get there just to change my banking number!
Remittance service is horrible as well. They can put your money on pending for months when you are sending overseas. One of the worst banking systems in the whole world

Disappointing Experience with BDO

I am extremely frustrated and disappointed with the handling of my application process with BDO. On July 10, 2024, at 5:38 PM, I received communication confirming my next step: a Zoom video call appointment scheduled for July 17, 2024, at 3:30 PM. However, because I missed a call at 12:38 PM on July 14, 2024, during lunchtime, I was informed that my application cannot proceed.

This decision is unprofessional and inconsistent, especially given the prior confirmation of the scheduled Zoom appointment. I was fully prepared to follow the process and participate in the Zoom call as planned.

I urge BDO to reconsider their decision and honor the originally scheduled Zoom appointment on July 17, 2024, at 3:30 PM. This situation has caused unnecessary inconvenience and reflects poorly on the reliability and professionalism that I expected from BDO. I need a checking account for my transactions, and this delay is unacceptable.

I recently applied for a credit card.

I recently applied for a credit card.

I filled out a form with all my details: name, address, yada yada. Guess what!? They delivered my card to the address on their file instead of using the address I provided. Now I have been looking for a way to get the card before anything happens.

Called their customer service - on hold for 3 hours now, and nobody seems to know what needs to be done.

I am spelling out the solution for the. I just picked the card up from one of their branches and guess what!! I was told to reach out to their customer service hotline even after visiting one of their branches.

Stolen credit card

My credit card and phone was stolen overseas, so it takes time before I inform my wife that she has call BDO to block my card but unfortunately my card was already maxed out before it gets blocked.
I asked for a dispute and it was not successful, they did not even investigate, I reported the incident within 24 hrs. But they dId not approve it. They will just put a blame on you if you lost your card. They should have removed the dispute option in their system because they will just ignore it.
Now I'm removing all my accounts in BDO.

WORST BANK CUSTOMER SERVICE

I JUST CALLED YOUR LINE AND WHEN SOMEONE PICKED UP MY CALL AFTER 50 MINUTES OF WAITING, I WAS PLACED ON HOLD AND GOT DISCONNECTED. WAY TO RUIN A DAY, BDO!! YOU HAVE THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE!!

I just cannot believe so much people…

I just cannot believe so much people still bank in BDO..poor customer service. A friend lost his money from stolen card emailed them about it and never get back to him nor update what so ever. Again same friend, He went to the branch to ask for help for an online mishap, He never receive any positive attention or action. Asked him to go to the other bank where he transfered the money.
My friend lost 150,000 pesos on lost card and 80000 from bank transfer mishap no help from BDO.

I was forced to pay P500k by BDO credit Card for Fraud Transactions

Fyi sa mga may CREDIT CARDS esp. sa mga credit cards for renewal. Almost same na modus ang nangyari sa akin (see 24 Oras news video), almost P500k pinapabayaran ng credit card bank ko 😡 kahit alam nila na hindi ako ang nag transact base sa CCTV at signatures sa charge slips.

⚠️Sana ay protektahan ng mga bangko at ng BSP ang mga credit card holders, lalo na kung madami ang nabibiktima sa similar na modus: credit card tampering at cloning.

Marami ang mga puwedeng magkakasabwat base sa balita.

Kaso after ng hearings with BSP, wala ding nangyari.

Si bdo legal counsel, medyo may pagka Bastos. Fraud team naman, imbes na tulungan ka, ikaw pa ang hahanapan ng Mali para ma sisi ka. Walang kuwenta na values ang bdo officers na to.

Worst bank

They ask so many questions like what is the source of your income, where do you live, how much is your salary and where exactly is your area? It’s better to open an account on other banks than in any BDO’s. Bad bank waste of my time.

Worst Customer Service Ever!

Philippines BDO-Unibank’s Customer Service is the worst in the world. I’ve used Customer Services for a whole lot of banks around the world but this one is extremely frustrating!
1. Call Center will ring and put you on a non-ending voice-messages. I was listening to it for more than a hour and no response even when it says that their Customer Service is 24/7.
2. Email - They replied to my email but DID NOT address the query, instead promoted their services. They probably didn’t even bothered reading my queries.
3. Facebook Messenger: replied to my first text but also DID NOT address the issue. Then did not bothered replying to my next messages.

BDO Customer Services doesn’t address my very simple issues probably because they do not know the answers to my VERY SIMPLE QUERIES about the number of 10-digits or 12-digits Account Number to use. Other banks will not treat their customers like that! Way too far from being a world-class banking. No class at all.

I hope they will improve their mobile app though I've been their customer for years now. I'll give it a 4 till they release a better UI on their mobile app that should give me a better experience.

Attention all foreigners do not bank…

Attention all foreigners do not bank with "bdo" especially the one located in mactan -epza 2, lapu-lapu, cebu, address is bdo unibank unit 204 nga bldg. 2, pueblo verde mez ii, lapu-lapu city, cebu, philippines : as they seem to have a constant excuse or story to inform you as to when your check will clear their bank.

When I deposited my first check, from the United States, they told me that it would clear their bank in 45 days which was a complete fabrication of the truth as it took 6-1/2 weeks to clear.

The second check, i deposited from the united states bank, again they told me that it would clear in 45 days, then the next fabrication was i was informed that it would take 5 business work days....Again another fabrication as i was recently it would take 2 months with is complete "b.S" as my checks cleared the bank in the united states 3 days after i wrote it.
They told me that I was informed at the time I deposited that last check it would take that long which to me was an out and "lie" as if they would have told me that at that time i surely would not have put more money to my account.
I guess "bdo" is just making interest on my money while I wait.

Another 2 facts, 1) if you want to withdraw u.S. Funds from that bank you have to call a day before 2) if they say they will call back, don't count on it unless they mean they will call the 2nd Tuesday of next week.

I would highly suggest not using this bank as I will not ever again!!!!
