Dreadful - to be avoided!
Everything about the experience of using Bristol Airport was dreadful. Clearly expanded the number of flights without investing properly in facilities. On arrival, had to take a bus from the plane to the terminal - woefully overcrowded. Then had to take another bus from the terminal to the car hire centre - apparently running every 15 minutes, but had to wait longer, then also massively overcrowded - service completely inadequate, and no option to walk instead Then had a whole bus load of people picking up hire cars, so had to wait 45 minutes for this.
On departure, only one security lane was open despite big queues. Security area was hopelessly overcrowded. Food in the departure lounge ridiculously expensive (e.g. £4.50 for a 500ml soft drink). Departure lounge was also massively overcrowded.
Bristol Airport has clearly prioritised profit over the customer experience, expanding flight numbers without the capacity / management to make it work for customers.
To be avoided if possible!
Assistance team bristo airport
This review is just for assistance team excellent service from the drop off area to airplane both outwards and return trip can't review bag checkers as complaint has been logged awaiting outcome but will be back with review of them
Not clear on where to drop people off
Not clear on where to drop people off. Ended up with a fine as just ended up kicking daughter out so she could find where to go on foot. She only just made flight due to security issues. Get your act together.
Customer Service helplines were not being answered
We headed for departures and were directed to security. We realised that we missed the bag drop/check-in area, but a staff member asked us if we had a boarding pass and to proceed through security screening. There was no check-in facility after security and no information desk to ask. I returned to security and was advised me to go to the green wall with the bank of telephones near gate 2 and someone would have to come and escort us out and back again through security. Neither extension 3659 nor 3518 were being answered despite trying for nearly an hour. There was some staff who appeared to be walking about with clipboards inspecting the concorse. I enquired from one of them who tried the phones and asked her colleagues " why aren't these extensions being answered " but her colleague could only offer " there's nothing you can do Jane" and continued on their way and advised me to keep trying.
There was no one to ask for assistance when I realised our error, which was most unsatisfactory.
A very poor experience
A very poor experience. The airport has expanded but the facilities have not kept up. Queues for security were very long; the experience could have been greatly improved if the area was properly staffed. After emerging from security we came into the departures area which was rammed to the gunnels. You could not even get a cafe table to eat your food. It looks like the aim is to make as much profit as possible at the expense of the customer experience. And don't even get me started on the parking and drop off charges......
The worst experience
The worst experience. Retreiving luggage is an absolute joke. Took me over an hour! And its not exactly a big airport!! Plus no staff on hand to help!!
Truly awful experience
Truly awful experience. No seating. Hot temperatures especially at gates and upper mezzanine, dirty toilets, a one hour wait for any remotely decent food. A 40 minute transfer time between car rental and airport. Strangely surly security staff when the one good thing going for place was it was quiet through security. You’ve spent money on infrastructure perhaps thinking about getting in better management.
10 people have missed their flight at…
10 people have missed their flight at the same time because of a 10 min gate information wondow and long wait at security
Parking charges are daylight robbery
£7 to drop off or pick up, up to TEN minutes… how can you justify that? All major airports in Europe offer at least 30 minutes FREE.
Talking about free, your free waiting zone car park, free for one hour, but £20 if you stay 61 minutes… knowing you have to take a bus both ways, with waiting times up to 15 minutes! Have I already used the phrase daylight robbery? When will these practice be investigated? Will someone wake up and realise this is just not acceptable?
Absolutely awful place to fly from we…
Absolutely awful place to fly from we stayed in the mid stay, we initially couldn't find the Mid stay as the sign had been knocked down, after riving around a couple of ties we eventually found it. they say its a 8 minute walk, it isn't a 8 minute walk but what else they tell you is there are no directions as to find your way to the terminal. We ended up waking through the multi storey and found a way that way. The new improvements are not being managed very well. I also had a issue with the lounge which I complained about and they did not ever respond. as my booking was thought Bristol airport i was advised by the Escape lounge to complain directly to them after 2 attempt's to resolve the issue and they didn't bother to respond. Avoid, instead fly from Cardiff or further afield might be more expensive but definitely better service. don't bother booking the lounges either they are a waste of time.
We also pre-paid for parking but when we went to leave they wanted to charge us £370 as the booking wasn't showing. luckily I had the email on my on my phone to prove I had paid, We have flown from here many, many times and never had issues like I've had this time.
BRISTOL AIRPORT MUST DO BETTER!!!
Travelled through this airport yesterday 09/08/2026 with my 85 year old Mum and had booked mobility assistance in advance. Where do you start.... Drop-off - non-existent for people with mobility issues and the charges are crazy!! £8.50 for 10 mins and you go a second over and it increases. Finally got to the terminal and checked in with "mobility assistance" -what a joke!! Handed a wheelchair and basically told to get on with it. No help with check-in, navigating security or finding the MA waiting area. Finally found it and to be honest it's THE most depressing area I have ever sat in, in any airport. Down a long dark corridor away from the main thoroughfare so difficult for anyone to access food or drinks or even toilets. To be totally honest it felt like we had gone back 200 years in time and that people with disabilities should be hidden away from the public eye so that the aesthetic wasn't affected. Half the waiting room was full of people wearing Hi-vis jackets but from what I could see only one or two of them helped anyone, the rest gave absolutely no assistance to anyone. We finally got called for our flight and again it was up to the family member to get the person requiring assistance to the necessary area. And when we were nearly there and I thought it was going to be fine, we were presented with 2 flights of stairs!!! No lift or any means of getting the person downstairs unless they walked!! Dead serious here. If my Mum hadn't have been able to navigate stairs how was I supposed to get her where she needed to be? Was I expected to put her over my shoulder and carry her down? Get her out of the wheelchair and give her a piggyback??? Absolute joke. So there we were thinking "that was crazy but it's over now".... Wrong!! No special assistance bus to get to the plane, even though there were 3 sitting outside with drivers. Instead we were loaded onto the normal cattle truck with everyone else and nearly trampled on exit. Flew to Dublin Airport and the reception we received there was 10000000000% times better.
BRISTOL AIRPORT MUST DO BETTER!!!
Avoid 6pm if you want to eat.
Ok, I realise it's 6pm and time to eat, but every eatery was full (one quoted 35-40 min wait). Burger King might have been quicker, but there was absolutely nowhere to sit. General seating was chronic. BRS seems to be a money making exercise with disregard to customers. The attitude seems to be... if you don't like our regional airport, what are your alternatives?
this airport is a nightmare to negotiate
so lucky to have this airport on my doorstop except it is a nightmare to negotiate, firstly a mile plus long walk up and down stairs with carry on luggage and young children etc until you arrive at your bay, then hopefully its not raining/snowing to board as there are no air bridges. then on return you have the same walk and sometimes even further as you will probably be dropped at the furthest end of the terminal, if your lucky there may be a coach to bus you a little bit further to passport control, yesterday there was no bus so we took a ridiculously long hike up and down steps in and out of the building to finally arrive at passport control im in my late 70s and thought i was fairly fit this was a marathon and god help anyone who has walking difficulties, then to top it all is the ridiculously long walk from baggage reclaim to the transport hub which requires you to haul all your luggage up an incline in the open air (hopefully its dry) to a covered walkway, why didn't they make the whole area covered this is the west country we have a lot of rain/fog/snow/gales who ever designed this new improved airport? obviously didn't consider the needs of the passengers who keep this airport viable.
A joke
This airport is a complete joke. What idiot thought it was a good idea to develop an airport in the middle of nowhere. It has rubbish transport links. It has no railway station, buses and taxis are expensive, so your best option is to drive and they know that so they take advantage by ripping you off for drop off. Money grabbing sh1ts.
Half a mile walk from plane to passport control!
Ridiculously long walk from landing to passport. We were on a bus and it dropped us at the furthest point! We walked over half a mile which included stairs and back out of the building and back in again. There is no indication of this long walk. So for some people it is not appropriate, especially carrying luggage on the stairs. Not good enough!!
New taxi operator is poor too . Although I'd prebooked there was only one person serving so I was just stuck in the queue. Then had to wait for a driver to amble over from the parking area even though I had his details. A complete waste of time! What an archaic system . All in all a bad experience.
Runway closed due to "runway damage"
Runway closed due to "runway damage". Fair enough, things happen.
What shouldn't happen is the absolute chaos, lack of information, no tannoy announcement. Passengers essentially trapped at the gate not given information how to exit the airport.
That along with exorbitant charges I would suggest flying from somewhere else if you can
A really shambolic experience at…
A really shambolic experience at Bristol Airport. There were so many people going through security and only two security lanes open... Such a poor experience caused by airport management looking to minimise costs. A very short-sighted approach to running a business.
The security area was a shambles staff…
The security area was a shambles staff either didn't speak or shouted at you. The bald lady with glasses was extremely rude to my teenage daughter, bordering on abusive in the way she spoke to her. If this had had happened in a different situation I would have reacted and asked to speak to management, but due to the ridiculous queues we didn't have time. Management need to look at this, I can see it's not a first.
Appalling experience
Appalling experience. Rude security staff who shout at the passengers, ordering them around like cattle. Extremely hot and overcrowded departure lounge with infrequent cleaning. The airport gave the green light for departure and then announced a 40 minute delay with no air conditioning allowed in the aircraft. Not the airline’s fault: Bristol airport does not allow aircraft to run their engine in the stands, so no air conditioning until the plane is taxiing… No joke in the summer heat. Oh and do not use the cash machines in Arrivals: my credit card was debited but no cash was issued. Had to claim it back through my credit card, the staff are the airport hasn’t a clue whose cash machines they were.
Beware all arrivals and people dropping…
Beware all arrivals and people dropping off, the access road and parking is a honey trap for some private parking company on behalf of the airport, at a minimum you will get charged 10 pound for just passing through, also there is a strict no stop policy on approach road with 100 pound fine....not the easiest place to navigate and set up to catch and cash in.....been once to the area via Bristol airport and hired a car but will never use the route again....
