It has been a few years since i did a review of Eight O'clock Original blend whole beans coffee so I thought I would revisit it. The wife and I drink a lot of coffee and we have been using Eight O'clock Original whole bean coffee as our go to for over 40 years. We have tried other brands but we keep coming back to the rich tasting Original Blend. You can spend a whole lot more money on the fancy high priced gourmet coffees and not come away with a coffee blend as good as Eight O'clock Original. We purchased our current batch from BJ's warehouse club. It was sale priced at $13.99 US for a 38 ounce bag. Normal pricing is $16.99. The packaging is the familiar Eight O'clock red re-sealable mylar/foil bag with a standard degassing valve and an expiration date one year into the future. There is a way to decode the manufacturer stamp to get an approximate roast date, I just haven't figured it out yet. Having an expiration date one year into the future i would assume the roast date was within a couple of weeks from when i purchased it. The beans inside are a blend of 100% Arabica from several different origins so the bean size and shape will vary. The bag claims beans sourced from Central and South America and East Africa. If I had one complaint about the Eight O'clock Original is that while the beans appear to be of a good quality there is quite a few broken beans and a good amount of sediment. The beans are roasted to a solid medium in my opinion. The fragrance of the whole beans while in the bag is heavenly sweet, fruity, roasted coffee. My normal dose of whole beans is 66 grams. This dose was ground to approximately 800 microns or setting 15 on my Ollygrin BG710T conical burr grinder. The fragrance from the ground beans is quite pleasant as is the aroma from the brewing coffee filling the air with a sweet nutty coffee aroma. This 66 gram dose of coffee was brewed with 1.2 liters of cold filtered water, in a Cuisinart CPO-850 Precision brewer. In the cup the aroma of this coffee has a slightly musty, woody, fragrance like wet fall leaves with under tones of roasted nuts and burnt sugar. Tasting this coffee it has a pleasant medium mouth feel, bright red apple acidity at the beginning fading to a quick nutty finish with slight under tones of dark bittersweet chocolate. This coffee is both smooth and slightly bold on the palate has a satisfying but not lingering finish with just a hint of bitterness. This is a great anytime coffee for anyone and proves it doesn't have to be expensive to be good. Specialty grade coffees will have an SCA cupping score of 80 or above. Using their scoring method I would rate this coffee at 87.50. It should be noted that I am not a coffee professional so this rating is just my honest opinion.This coffee in whole bean form ground fresh right before brewing is a huge step up from the Folgers, Maxwell House, Chock-Full-Of-Nuts or any super market canned coffees. It comes highly recommended especially at the current sale price $13.99/38 ounce bag at BJ's warehouse club ($16.99 reg. price). A 40 ounce bag can be had at Sam's club for $19.99.

I placed an order directly through the Eight O’Clock Coffee website in mid-February. The order never shipped. Tracking only ever showed “label created,” meaning the carrier never picked up or scanned the package.

Over more than a week, I received multiple emails falsely claiming the order had shipped, was in transit, or was delayed by weather. Later, I was told the package was “lost or misrouted during transit,” which is impossible since the carrier never received it.

This is terrible customer service. The company provides misleading updates, contradictory explanations, and no proactive resolution. First-time customers should be warned: ordering from this site risks wasting your time and money while being given excuses instead of real service.

Avoid this company if you expect reliable shipping or honest communication.

you guys are the worst. it been 1 week i have placed the order and have not received it yet. as the promised delivery date was 20th Feb 2026. the lady who picked up the call was so racist and i tried calling them multiple times every time i get a different response. sometimes they say its out of stock some times they say it would be dispatched by the evening and idk what evening they are talking about.
