Mixed experience
To be completely honest, it was a bad start with Gilson Gray, I’d had a sale fall through previously but had begun entering my details and made a payment so when my house did sell again I was told this information was on record and they could use that instead of going through it all again and they would be in touch when the next part of the process I needed to supply info for was ready. This didn’t happen; I chased multiple times and was told that was still happening and then my partner called and was then told the system had been updated and my info hadn’t been moved over with the change- this was incredibly frustrating as not only had we lost a fair bit of time in those weeks, it felt undermining that whenever I called I was given one answer and palmed off but as soon as my partner called he got answers and support and management agreeing it wasn’t good enough etc.
I was then sorted and assigned a case handler who then left quite abruptly, then I was assigned Sian and things turned around much quicker and more pleasantly from then! Sian was responsive on emails and calls, friendly and supportive and tolerated my constant chasing and helped get everything pushed through.
Overall I do feel like I’ve paid the solicitor fee somewhat begrudgingly given the start of the process but am very grateful to Sian for getting us there in the end, thanks Sian!

Kerri was a great help and very reassuring when we were moving house. We had a few issues she dealt with promptly and kept us informed throughout.
Service and communication was not as good when Kerri was on annual leave, but she brought us back up to speed as soon as she was back.

Easy house purchase via Gilson Gray
My experience with Gilson Gray has been a positive one as a FTB.
Xulin Chen, the solicitor dealing with my house purchase, was not only quick to reply but made things simple, provided regular updates and gave me answers for questions that I had in relation to both Gilson Gray's processes but also the external seller.
I would definitely recommend you request her as I have no faults of hers.
I would say that other areas took long to reply for certain queries. For example I was unable to get into one of their platforms which required me to upload certain documents. Despite even calling the offices, that seemed to take an age for a very simple task. However, I do want to reiterate that for the actual house purchase perspective, Xulin was excellent.

Great experience with Gilson Gray
My partner and I (both early 20s) enlisted the services of Gilson &Gray to purchase our first property.
The solicitor assigned to us was Alan Craig. From day dot, we found him extremely friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and quick to answer any and all of our questions.
The property in question proved to be very difficult to buy for a multitude of reasons, but Alan was there throughout, explaining and updating us as things progressed.
As a young couple, we don't have a lot of money, and we found the rate charged to be very reasonable.
Cannot recommend Gilson&Gray (Especially Alan Craig himself) enough.
