Excellent customer service

Alan was a mint lad, he had a little issue with traffic so was delayed a little. He let me know inadvance and was well informed on my vehicle. Cannot fault this company, from start to finish it was an absolute breeze.

I have recently had a turbo boost issue which has been rectified through the warranty however the fault hasn't changed and is now worse than ever.

I have requested for a refund but they are refusing to reply to me.

I am now having to seek legal action against hippo motor group.

To add i have since reported the company to Trading Standards as I am currently left unable to drive the car and am still paying for finance

I have a son who I need to use the car to drop him off and pick him up from his mums and also for getting to work and am unable to do so

First car buying experience with Hippo, overall is has been a very easy process. Thomas did bend over backwards for us in finding the right car at the right price. Had a location change to collect the vehicle but Matt in Peterborough was very accommodating and pleasant to deal with.

Initially went to view the car I wanted to buy and it was dirty on the exterior (very dusty) but I didn’t think much of it at the time and still tried to have a good look at the exterior condition of the car. When it came to the purchase day, I realised that the reason they may have not cleaned it is because once clean you could see all of the imperfections (stone chips & some light scratches). This was disappointing to see at purchase day when I did not see any of this at the test drive day.

This was an EV so I was told that it would be fully charged when I pick it up as I needed to get back to work. However the car was on 15% battery charge on the day of pick up, this was also disappointing as then I had to waste time by going to a fast charger instead of going straight back to work.

It’s the little things like this that just put a downer on the whole process which should be fully enjoyable.

Although we never met face to face, I had such good service from Hippo in the person of Callum Ali. Nothing was too much trouble, even when the deal fell through because of vehicle problems at my end, Callum managed to unscramble the purchasing process without great cost to me.

The company seems to have a super large stock and I would definitely deal with Hippo again ...as a first choice!

Purchased a e208 online partx my car 508 asked the young lady I was dealing with if car is fully moted and serviced before delivery I was told yes totally all done took delivery on 9 th July only to find service not done and hadn’t been for well over 12 months nearly 15 email sent got offered £79 to get sorted they sent a link of some random garage in Peterborough that come to you but no show so I’ve had to search around for a garage to do found one finally had done today and walked away with a bill of £300 as tyres needed 2 front as were cracked and beyond repair wiper blades all split been replaced yet not was done on 1st July I got car on 9th July service on 29th July yet hippo failed to take responsibility of a vehicle that should not be on the road with cracked tyres dangerous at speed possible blowout was what I was told today and should of had an advisory on mot to get changed hippo think they are ok to offer £100 goodwill gesture to cover the service they failed to do pre delivery of a vehicle
Please stay away from this company a blow out can cause an accident or death and they don’t think that this issue is their problem

Another big thanks to Mark Cottam who delivered the new car and took away our part exchange. Contacted us to say when he would arrive. He was spot on time. Explained everything in detail. Made sure we were happy. Very professional, friendly, and polite.

My experience with Hippo Motor Group has been extremely disappointing. Following a major turbocharger repair carried out by Hippo, the repair failed within weeks, leaving my vehicle undrivable once again. An independent Land Rover specialist identified further issues associated with the previous repair, and the vehicle has suffered excessive oil consumption, repeated DPF regenerations and ongoing mechanical faults.

Throughout this process I repeatedly requested the full repair documentation, including technician worksheets, diagnostic reports, parts invoices and details of exactly what work was carried out. Despite several requests, Hippo has provided only a single workshop job sheet, which I do not believe is adequate for a repair of this magnitude.

I have now formally exercised my final right to reject the vehicle under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Hippo’s response to an undrivable vehicle was to advise me that its internal complaints investigation could take up to eight weeks. In my view, asking a customer to wait up to eight weeks while their vehicle remains unusable is wholly unacceptable.

My dispute is now with both Hippo Motor Group and the finance company, and I will update this review once the matter has been concluded.

From the start of the application with Rebecca process to Alan delivering my car to me. I was supported and they both delivered excellent customer service.

Stay well away! Sell you a car, it breaks down, still under warranty, don’t give a dam! Leave to the warranty company to sort who are a joke! Absolutely disgusting. Let’s get a solicitor time for legal action!

I don't write on her a lot but I felt this was important to say.
I was sold a car by this company back in late 2024, initially everything was ok. However, when I came to have it serviced it turned out that the car had been:
- Re-mapped - which had not been mentioned and thus invalidated my insurance
- The engine had been replaced with the same engine from a different model in the M range - this had also not been mentioned
- An aftermarket catalytic converter had been put on which then failed it's emissions standards.

Hippo stated that they were not aware of this at time of sale. Whilst his may be true I would raise this as a potential issue when purchasing a car. They claim a 130 point check on all sales, however this does not appear to include important features like the assessing the ECU/engine or catalytic converter.

When I raised this issue with Hippo they asked me to prove that I had not had the work carried out myself, I have neither the time nor inclination to try to scam a company out of money. What I feel is worrying is that I was driving my family around in a car that had been re-mapped without my knowledge and thus invalidated my insurance.

Be careful of this company and if you are going to buy from them then consider getting the car looked at/serviced within the warranty period
