ICS Accounting has been, without exaggeration, one of the most frustrating and incompetent umbrella companies I’ve ever encountered. Their entire setup feels deliberately confusing, slow, and opaque. The hidden clauses buried in their contracts are a huge red flag — you only discover what they really mean once you’re already trapped in their system.

Basic information like holiday pay, how to book holidays, how to request anything at all, is either withheld, delayed, or delivered in the vaguest possible way. It’s astonishing how long it takes them to communicate even the simplest details. Everything is dragged out, everything requires chasing, and everything feels like it’s designed to waste your time.

And then there’s the payroll. Constantly wrong. Not occasionally, not the odd mistake — consistently incorrect payments. For a company whose sole purpose is to handle pay correctly, this level of incompetence is unbelievable. Every payslip becomes a guessing game, and every correction takes far too long.

What makes it even worse is the bizarre number of positive reviews floating around, because they do not reflect the reality of dealing with ICS. Their system is clunky, outdated, and unnecessarily long‑winded. Nothing is straightforward. Nothing is efficient. Nothing inspires confidence.

If you value transparency, accuracy, or even the slightest bit of professionalism, steer well clear of ICS Accounting. They turn what should be a simple umbrella service into a stressful, time‑consuming mess. I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone.

Efficient and easy sign up online! Payment with payslip was processed on time and effectively for my first ever payment with them. Even after signing up. A week after everything going well, I received a call from Lisa who was lovely, calling to check if there was any issues or questions with my first ever payslip with them. She gave me her email for any enquiries in the future as well. That extra step surprised me having been with other umbrella companies in the past. To have an umbrella company that is so accessible let’s say IF there was a problem means the most!

Ive been with ICS for a month now and been dealing with Michaela. She has been amazing, prompt and supportive. She helped me with a smooth onboarding process, she has ensured my expenses have all been fully reimbursed and paid weekly so im not out of pocket. If I have any queries then Michaela responds and deals with it promptly- her communication is excellent. I would highly recommend.

I have no problems with ics Umbrella, the staff are very attentive and helpful, the portal is affective and easy to navigate. The only concern I have is I am not clear if they offer advances. The one good thing is once your time sheet has been approved and the money sent, it is possible to get your wages early. ( a big plus for me )

First time using an umbrella company and so far, so good! Appreciate that they gave me a call from a real person after my first payslip to check that everything was ok.
