Since november 2025 I had a good…

Since november 2025 I had a good contact with John from Traffic Co. He was friendly and reacted fast and correct on all my questions. Finally I purchased a car and receive it on april 7th 2026.
The car was overall in good condition, but had damage under de bumper. He assured me that this happened during the transport. After connecting HOËGH they send me photos of my car BEFORE it entered the ship to show me that the damage was already on the car. Since I informed John about this he start ghosting me and no one reaction from his side. Also the president of the company I contacted twice mr Tony Tsuna also no response. Overall I felt that I have been cheated and purchase a damage car. It cost me a lot to fix this damage. Mine advise is: ask as much as pictures from the car before shipping. He did not provide me pictures at the moment of shipping. A good thing that HOEGH did this so they provide me proof. John is not thrust worthy and honest. Mrs Bella from Holland.

1-Star Review

1-Star Review – Japan Car Info

Extremely dishonest and unprofessional.

I paid USD 6,890 (USDT) in full. When the transaction failed, they did NOT refund the full amount. Only USD 6,825 was returned, and additional charges were deducted afterward. The shortfall is still unpaid.

Before taking payment, communication was quick BY JOHN and polite. Once the money was received, behaviour changed — delays, excuses, and then complete silence. No proper explanation. No accountability.

This is not a minor issue — it is withholding customer funds.

I have escalated this matter to the Consumer Affairs Agency of Japan and am proceeding through formal legal and consumer protection channels.

⚠️ Serious warning to buyers:
Do not rely on promises. If something goes wrong, be prepared to chase your own money.

Extremely Poor Experience - Not recommended

Extremely Poor Experience. I finalized a car and paid advance of $10000 by bank transfer. Before payment I had very fast response but after payment response was very slow. More than a week after payment I was informed by John that the car has been sold to someone else. Then I asked for a refund. John said that he could offer me other cars but having waited for more than a week I kind of lost trust. finally I was refunded only $9916 and told that rest are bank charges! So I end up not getting the car I paid for and losing nearly $200 in bank charges (Bank charges for paying + Bank charges for refund). I do not recommend this vendor because you won't get the car and just end up losing money.

3 vehicles so far..

I’ve recently purchased a couple vehicles with the help of John at Traffic Co.

Communication has been real good at almost all hours of the day even with being 16 hours ahead of me. Occasionally, understandably, there is a bit of a breakdown with the language barrier or it’s a little difficult to communicate specific requests but that hasn’t caused any issues.

Their services are more affordable than others I have seen. Especially for the level of customer service you are getting.

Where I think they can improve is in the website. It doesn’t show all the vehicle auctions they offer and I find myself using an alternate website to browse auction vehicles and then messaging them to bid. Additionally, at least in my case, documents aren’t uploaded or saved to the website after the initial invoice. I can understand that this is a lot of book keeping to take place and could potentially take a lot of time so understand why they don’t do it. Especially when what they are doing still works.

My 1st vehicle was a Classic Rover Mini. They communicated good and got me everything I needed for import and I was happy with the vehicle when it arrived. Shipping of the documents took longer than I had hoped and almost had to pay for it in storage costs. My translated export certificate wasn’t certified which cost me a bit more later but they’ve let me know they’ll get me certified translations from now on.

My second vehicles hasn’t arrived yet but has shipped. The documents are set to arrive much much earlier so it’s nice to see this being the case after the first.

I’ll update my review as time goes on with more imports.

Importing a car from Traffic CO LTD to New Zealand

I live in Christchurch New Zealand. Around 3 years ago we imported a Suzuki Swift from Japan for the eldest daughter. The experience was great and the car arrived as described. Our younger daughter 5turned 18 earlier this year and she asked if she could also import her own car direct from Japan. She has worked a part time job whilst at university and had saved every penny for her dream car. In hindsight we should have used the same car exporter as we had used for the oldest daughter but found a car she liked at different company. The exporter was called TRAFFIC CO LTD which trades under japancarinfo.com. This company was displaying that it was a member of - JUMVEA (Japan Used Motor Vehicle Exporters Association) and also Japancartrade.
We first made contact with TRAFFIC CO., LTD through the japanesecartrade.com website and then inquired direct about a few cars before settling on a 2012 Mazda Demio with 19,000km.DE3FS-523345. A pro Forma was sent to us and we paid in full for CIF. (car purchase price and shipping to Christchurch) We paid on the 5th June after many inquiries asking when the car will be shipped we were finally told on the 16th of June that they cannot give us that car because the motor is bad. We asked for a full refund but were getting constantly stalled. When I asked for a full refund I received the following reply.
" This is a company based on trust , we never compromise on quality. We will offer you a replacement car" We were offered a few other cars with 2-3 times as many KM's as the original. We refused and asked for a refund and were told
"Sir we are doing business for more than 30 years,we are a member of Govt recognise institute"
Finally we were offered a car that we agreed upon. We were told it was excellent condition. The next issue is when we agreed to this car as replacement we were told we had to pay more. This is the start of the budget blow out. Anyways we did agree after many arguments and under time pressure to pay more money to Traffic Co LTD. We had many issues when settling the balance of the payment but we can take blame for that as we did not add the company name to the T/T payment (we had to pay alot more money for tracing etc - this was primarily our mistake but if we didnt have to pay additional money this would not have occured)
Finally the car arrived but we were told by the shipping line that the car could not be released because Traffic Co LTD had not paid the freight. I contacted Traffic CO and this was fixed quickly.
On Wednesday last week it was time to pick the car up from the compliance business in CHCH. WOW was I shocked . The car had significant damage to the front bumper and the rear bumper was covered in black overspray and had 2 different colours on it. I dont know colour shading charts but it was a long way out , light grey vs dark grey. The mechanic at the car compliance place said the front headlight had also been changed as 1 was quite new and the other was extremely old. I questioned the damage to the front panel and also the repair on the rear bumper. They checked their arrival sheets and it had notes of the damage upon arrival. They said to go back to the car exporter to ask for follow up.
I sent detailed photos to Traffic CO LTD and they came back and said this is not a car that they would export and all the damage and the repainted bumper was not there before they ship. They said the car they sent was high quality and they would never send cars in that condition. I asked if they had viewed the car before dispatch or was the sale through a third party. I got no reply. I asked if I could prove that the car was sent from Japan in this condition would they give resolution. I received a reply to say they would go to management and ask. I thought I would do some research on the chassis number and found car sales that had this car for sale in Japan priot to me purchasing it. The damage that we received in Christchurch was all listed on the grade sheet and proof we had been misled. I also zoomed in on the photos sent to me of the car by Traffic CO .(no close ups) What I thought was sun strike was actually a totally different colour on the back bumper and after heavy magnification of the front bumper you could see the damage on the front bumper (there were no close ups of the damage sent when we were offered the car)
I went back to Traffic CO LTD and attached the copy of the grade sheet I found and also the photos they sent (zoomed in) of the damage to prove that they were misleading me. I thought they would accept their mistake and offer a resolution. Unfortunately they are now just refusing to reply. I hoped mediation would work but they are refusing. Im currently pursuing some of the associations they are aligned with and will go all the way to president of Jumvea to highlight the injustice. Never deal with Traffic CO LTD you will be dissapointed if you do

Traffic Co., Ltd. has been in Japan Used Cars Export business since last 30 years and do not have complaint from any of our customers. We believe in fair trade and complete transparency with the customers. All vehicles are inspected and if any fault we openly share with the client and on approval from them only we proceed further with the export procedures.

NewZealand has a toughest used cars import inspection JEVIC along with the heat treatment without which the vehicle cannot be shipped. After passing the inspection only we export the cars and if the inspection is likey to fail we ask the customers for the repair in advance to save the re-inspection cost of the clients.

We deal in lowest comissions and still keep the quality standards high which has gained for the reputation in the government recognised associations in Japan like JUMVEA. We are Premium members of JapaneseCarTrade.com for the last 16 years and have sold thousands of cars through their platform and never gave them a reason to complaint.

We are ready to refund to any client whose vehicle we are not able to process without a single question asked, only this is the way we can have the clients back to us and build trust in them with our services.

The cars are used and have wear and tear more over the bugdet under which the car was bought is too low still be managed to source the car, got approval with photos and inspection passed. Still if the client is complaining we can only apologize for their experience but if they have cancelled the purchase after seeing the car photos and condition we would have happily refunded the payment.
