Went to call his office, haven't seen him since.
Called them out on Friday morning for non urgent repair/service of the AirCon of a building we were moving in to.
Arrived within the hour, and from there it all went wrong.
Engineer seemed to have no idea and after 20mins went back to his van to "call the office", haven't seen him since, but they have sent us an invoice for £108, along with some interest "notes".
I'll go through these "notes" and decide if the Charity should pay, or if they just want Money for Nothing

What Did You Do On This Visit?
Attended site - And very quickly you arrived too
Spoken to client - Confirmed everything we had already said in our original phone call.
Haven’t been on in 8 years - In our call we said the building had been empty for at least 7 years, and we didn't know if it had been serviced before.
Was no access around the back - Is that no access through the gate we unlocked, opened and took you through, or no access through the fire door you were let in by, or did you just make this up?
Units on the roof - On a flat roof that we have access to from an upper door, or by ladders, which we have, and this was also asked and responded to in our phone call
No fuzes said 5 fuzes missing - AirCon doesn't have 5 fuses, it's a commercial building and is on a HUGE breaker box on the lower floor, which you were shown, and it was turned on whilst you were there as the control panel in the office came on. Or are you talking about the electrician who was on site who was checking the 13A fuses in the alarm and Signal Amplifier unit in the back office, the 5 fused spurs that he was already working on, and had the fuses for, when you arrived, which has NOTHING to do with the AirCon, and this was mentioned when you asked.
We spent a few hours wondering where he had gone, perhaps he had left for parts, maybe for lunch, or an emergency had come up. It wasn't until the invoice arrived that the two people who had been there to deal with him realised what had happened and could leave (they were VERY specific in their call that they needed people there at all times, and we would be billed otherwise).
Maybe we should invoice for OUR time, seems fair.

We’re sorry to hear you feel this way, however we would like to clarify the situation.
Our engineer attended site promptly as requested and carried out an initial inspection based on the information provided at booking. As with many commercial systems that have not been in use for several years, further investigation and diagnostic work is often required before any repair or recommissioning can take place.
During the visit, our engineer needed to contact the office to review findings and next steps. This is part of our standard process to ensure accurate assessment, particularly where system condition, access, and electrical setup require further clarification.
Following the visit, an invoice was issued for the attendance and diagnostic time, which remains unpaid.
We have since attempted to request further details to better understand your concerns and resolve the matter, however we have not received any response.
We always aim to provide a professional and transparent service, and we would still welcome the opportunity to discuss this directly and reach a resolution.
Same day call out
Call out at 9am, arrived same day, was kept up to date by text.
Great repair from Jack, knowledgable and great customer service.

Fast efficient service
I noticed that an old unused gas fire had started to give off just the slightest whiff of gas, so decided to have it removed and capped off. I rang JB Heating who offered an appointment the same (Friday) afternoon warning it would probably be late on. Late afternoon I got an apologetic phone call explaining the engineer was on an emergency call which was taking longer than expected and wouldn't be able to make it. They offered a rebooking for the Saturday afternoon which I accepted. Got a text Saturday lunchtime to say the engineer was on his way and half an hour later he arrived. Did a quick clean job of removing the fire, capping the pipe, and pressure testing the internal gas piping. The quoted per-hour price was very reasonable and I paid the engineer by credit card (other payment options were available). All interactions with the company were efficient and professional, very impressed.
