This is one of the most expensive sites I have ever had to use for college, and I only needed it to do TWO ASSIGNMENTS a week. I was just billed $135.85, and at checkout, the tax was $ 8. I am being robbed. Never in my life have I been so furious about something school-related. I am a college student attending community college because I already can not afford to go to a better school. What makes a business think that they can charge me $143 dollars for ONLY ONE CLASS so that I can get the assignments done on time that I literally need to do for the class? I have no way to get around it again because I need access to it for my class. They take advantage of students who have no other choice and scam them out of whatever money they see fit. I don't even want to hear the poor excuse they would give me. I was charged $60 for my other class as well, which still isn't good, but is better than $143, I GUESS. In total, I have spent about $204 on this program that I maybe use one day a week. Absolutely disgusting that this is a normalized behavior. I get that they need to make money, but there's a difference between being charged 20 dollars for a textbook vs. $200 for a program I AM OBLIGATED TO USE. Let’s do a little google search on the CEO shall we?-

Didn’t even get a promo code to use for the first two weeks. Absolutely livid, thank you, McGraw Hill!!!!! Don't even mention that it makes me pay longer than I need it!!!!!!!!

Mcgraw hills athena ai bot is slow and useless. I am still on hold a week later, and all it has to say is sorry for the inconvenience, i am deeply disappointed and offended by how i am treated by athena. do better. 😈

What a horrible piece of trash. I cannot point out a single positive with their software. Horrible user interface, horribly worded questions, and often even gives INCORRECT answers. Complete bottom of the barrel and I wish more institutions would throw them out.

If i could leave a 0 I would. Extremely rude and unprofessional. They have no idea what they are doing and can not solve problems. Blamed the issue on me when it was their fault. Extremely rude

Can I rate this lower than one star? I got to pay 200 dollars to access my homework, and it has the gall to suck. Doing an acct course right now, and if you slightly misorder the answer to the question, it will mark the entire thing as incorrect. Fun for every student, ten out of ten, five out of five stars, please buy our overpriced slop! Pay money for the PRIVILEGE of using this garbage!

Review Text:Using McGraw Hill’s digital platform (Connect/SmartBook) has been an incredibly frustrating experience.The Paywall System: Forcing students to pay a steep fee for an access code just to submit homework feels exploitative. You are essentially paying money just to be allowed to pass your class.Glitchy Interface and Grading: The system frequently flags answers as incorrect due to tiny, pedantic formatting errors (like an extra space or a slightly different rounding method), which forces you to argue with your professor for points. The interface itself feels outdated, lagging heavily during peak hours right before assignments are due.Bad User Experience: Navigating the e-textbook is clunky, and the adaptive learning modules feel like repetitive busywork rather than actual teaching tools.Overall, this platform creates unnecessary stress for students who are already paying high tuition. I highly discourage professors from adopting this software. They wont gove me a refund or a discount for the class I had to take a W. I think the teachers at DVC in pleasant hill spacifically Layo statistics tricks kids into the class to get credit for the books then ghost them. DVC has no way to complain, you can only talk to the dean...stupid rip off.

Prices keep increasing, there is no way to lower the price and they make you pay for longer than a semester which makes no sense as classes are only 1 semester long???

Insane profit margins. They help professors so that they can exploit students

I received a Dark Web alert that McGraw Hill compromised my email address. Their Customer Service simply gave me an email link to close my account. But, questions linger such as: is this a prevalent problem with McGraw Hill? How many customers ' emails with McGraw Hill have been compromised on Dark Web? This is a serious problem since Dark Web is used by hackers and fraudsters to sell stolen personal information on the black market, which could lead to identity theft. Furthermore affected customers have to go through the problem of changing log-in information for ALL accounts associated with the compromised their compromised email address. McGraw Hill needs to do better in protecting customers' email information.

I just noticed, after posting the above, that there is a post saying the email address for her McGraw Hill account was compromised on Dark Web . CUSTOMERS, CHECK YOUR CREDIT MONITORING AGENCIES TO SEE YOU HAVE THE SAME ISSUE WITH YOUR MCGRAW HILL EMAILS. Not good, McGraw Hill!

nothing works as it should, somehow they’ve managed to make everything 10x worse than it should be. when i click next on my homework problems it will reset the work I input. I dont know why schools still make us use such a greedy and inconsistent site.

Absolutely terrible UX all around. Mainly, though, the ADA narration is terrible across all texts. The low-quality program they use doesn't even know how to decipher the different types of dashes, and it constantly pronounces words wrong. They might as well pay the extra whatever for the rights to use narrators or existing audio versions of the texts. Not to mention that you can't have the reader pick up from anywhere but the beginning of whichever text unless you move a slider around, which is so inaccurate/imprecise and inconvenient. Why they don't have a feature where you select a sentence to have it read is beyond me.

Greedy and can't even provide students with discounts for their overpriced Connect platform. It should at least have an option to just buy Connect and not the textbook, so it does not cost so much.

Okay so first of all, the next button doesn't work 95% of the time. Also, the smart book reading questions haven't been updated in years despite being super flawed. The questions are often vague and require you to memorize lines from the textbook. Even if you know the subject really well, they base the smart book reading entirely off the language used in their textbook. And that's still better than their other assignments. Because when it comes to "labs" or those stupid interactive activities, it isn't even based off the textbook. Not only are the questions really vague for no reason, but they also cover material that's not in the textbook and often contradict it. Just a terrible scam company that doesn't even update their software. Would give negative stars if I could. It's made my classes a miserable experience.

Text is so confusing to read, they couldn't write it in a worse way. I cannot tell you anything that I have learnt from this website. I only do it as my lazy lecturer sets it as a percentage of my module for credits. It's a complete waste of time

This textbook worded the chapters and the questions all horribly. It's like they want you to be even more confused about a topic than you started out being.

Using McGraw-Hill connect to complete university courses is an abysmal experience. The questions are repetitive and spirit-crushing and rarely draw from the assigned material. I often find myself rushing through the program to complete it due to how unpleasant it is rather than trying to learn patiently. I don't enjoy this website and I regret spending money on it.

Repetitive questions, long assignments with those same exact questions like 20 times, difficult wording and no proper resources to genuinely look at since the questions sometimes don't even match up to the material it "recommends."

My school has purchased 2 subscriptions from them and I have purchased 1 myself. The content is great, however, the actual website itself sucks. Trying to login always takes some time because there are 2 different login sites and it seems I have to try both a few times before it decides to let me in. Also the customer service is abysmal, the people I have spoken to either do not know anything on how to assist or they treat you like an inconvenience for calling them. Plus there is no phone number for assistance only emails, which good luck trying to get a response on your purchase. The whole website needs to be upgraded or at least have customer support that will assist people in trying to navigate it.
