Terrible Service. When I first called spoke to a really helpful person called Anne, gave me great deals, I thought, but now I have had loads of problems with the cut offs and after numerous calls for help, have had no response back. Due to MoneySavingExper.com, I am now paying 2 gas companies, and 2 broadband providers and have had money taken out of my bank without my consent or knowledge, I wish now that I had NEVER called them because the mess I am now having to clear up is so complicated to explain, I am so stressed out by it all since I started with them in February 2026, and this is now April, I just want you to be aware before you embark with this company, the customer service is appalling.

This would always have been 5 stars until recently, I love Money saving expert, Martin has been my go to person for help and advice, the man is amazing and has saved me ££££s overtime, but I cant use the site anymore, since we have ad to change passwords, I just go in circles, at 80 years of age I cant clear cache and my vault still has all the original different passwords for credit club, energy prices, forum etc so I have had to give up, but thank you Martin for all the passed years of
help . and I wil just have to make sure I catch you on telly.
I am happy to see that I am not the only one to consider this page not just useless but even dangerous. I have used it on several occasions and everytime I got into trouble. I used it to book a car parking at the airport. I was scammed. The parking company used my car while I was off, left it dirty and moreover did not want to return it. I had to call the police to get it back. Then I used Martin Lewis page to rent a car...Dreadful experience...I always rent cars through other sites and never have a problem. Through MoneySavingExpert I was scammed. Then I used them to raise a mortgage enquiry. I used 2 of the brokers they sponsor....no words to describe the extremely poor customer service and lack of competency. I almost had to tell them what to do....Honestly avoid this site.
I watched Martin's show last night and was very interested in his review of the car sales issues that have resulted in a multi million issue that will provide refunds to many individuals. I used Martin's web site this morning to register my own complaint in case I have been 'done' with my latest PCP account. Unfortunately I have been inundated with many scam calls today from scammers wanting to represent me to help me with a refund.
When I contacted them about an energy company switch they took more than three weeks to get back to me and were upset that I had already made my decision.
Now I am being rung up by a fairly convincing robot but I have met better ones saying that it is MSE calling. This maybe a scam but you can't report it to MSA because they have no phone number
Switched using credit energy club promised £20 back to my account within 3-6 months - it has now been 6 months and as of yet not heard anything. Got excuse waiting for British Gas to confirm yet says processed on energy club page . I used to trust Martin Lewis but this felts like a con.
Submitted a switch from Octopus to E.on. Received an email from Money Saving Expert Cheap Energy Club saying my switch was in progress. Then nothing for a week. My emails to MSE were ignored. E.on have just told me they never received a request and the tariff I wanted is no longer available!
MSE 'promoted' a scheme last year in which an Amazon voucher for £100 would be sent if a new Santander account was opened. The voucher should have been processed by 12 Feb.
It has not happened. It appears MSE promoted a scam. I have been in contact with MSE about this and they simply bounced me to the Voucher site which has not responded. They have offered no further help
I have now said to MSE that they are tarnishing what was a good reputation by not taking any interest in this. Again no response. Are they party to the scam? If so, the followers of Martin Lewis should be made aware.
Absolutely awful for getting a car insurance quote. The first time I tried it, it wouldn't let me send off for a quote. Had to redo the additional driver section even though it was complete. The next day it won't stop submitting a quote before I've finished the second to last section. This is extremely dangerous as (they won't warn you) you will have a life sentence of no or extortionate insurance if any information is wrong.
I am legally qualified. My comment relates to the forums run by MSE. I would advise anyone trying to resolve a legal issue to exercise extreme caution in relation to the supposed legal advice that appears on their site. Much of its content is either entirely false or substantially so.
Ordered a Shark cordless vacuum using MSE's discount code. Order accepted, money paid, email confirmed. 2 hours later appropriately named Shark cancelled order but advised money would not be refunded for at least 5 days. MSE should be more careful of the Companies they work with especially as Martin Lewis goes to great trouble to give the impression he's the man on the street's hero. Appears MSE may not be able to be fully trusted either.
tried to take up the deal with Talktalk, Full fibre 150, 24 months with no price rises during the contract and £130 reward voucher following the link with MSE. However, while trying to get the deal, talktalk said it was incorrect and there would be at least one price rise during the contract.????
I read the weekly email and often act on it. I think it’s brilliant!
Very disappointed but not surprised to see MSE doubling down on their false claim that people who take part in their "Big Energy Switch" will be supported by MSE when things go wrong. Their claim is unequivocal: "if there's an issue, go to it [the supplier] first, but if it doesn't sort things, contact our Cheap Energy Club and we can and will escalate it and try to help." Can and will escalate problems when suppliers screw up the switch, sounds reassuring right? Complete lies. The reality when you contact MSE?
"Sadly, it isn't possible for Martin or ourselves to respond to individual queries and provide help based on your own personal circumstances."
These guys should be closed down for providing demonstrably false assurances to consumers.
You can't get a quote without creating an account and giving all your details.
Avoid, Avoid
March 2026 Update:
After making an official complaint I am pleased to say that the investigation was thorough and fully explained. Thanks, Vicky. Complaint upheld and gesture of goodwill along with the payment received. It was a relief to deal with someone competent.
I would award 5 stars for this interaction but for the delay and incompetence that went before.
Update 24.1.26.
Within about an hour of writing the below review I was contacted by email by Beth from MSE with an apology and explanation. She informed me that MSE would be contacting me for bank details to make the due payment. I will update further if this is done.
I received an email from MSE telling me my energy switch payment had been paid into my bank account on 14.1.26. They owed me £10 per fuel as I switched with their service. The money is not there and has not been paid.
I tried replying to their email and it was bounced back. I tried another email address and the same thing happened. I am a member of their forum and tried to get a response there. Nothing.
Finally, I tried the email address they put on Trust Pilot and got a stock reply saying to look at their website and post on their forum which I've already done.
Untrustworthy people with no way of contacting them. Scammers.
For those interested, here is part of the email they sent me:
Your cashback's been paid
Hi,
Thanks for using MSE's Cheap Energy Club to switch your energy supplier. We've just paid you the cashback we promised you when you switched, though it may still take a couple of days to reach your account, so don’t worry if it’s not arrived yet.
Your Energy Club account should also show the tariff you switched to in the ‘Your Account’ section. If you're on a fixed tariff it's worth logging in to your account and checking the end date of your deal is correct, as in some cases we have estimated this.
Have tried numerous times to switch broadband companies and claim the vouchers via Broadband Genie. The application has been blocked each time despite trying 3 different companies.
Able to do directly with the companies but without the Incentive ‘deal’ as they say it was because I was using a third party website.
I appreciate what you say in your reply. However I was dealing with one of your staff. He recommended British Gas to me saying they had improved a lot recently and we're the best option for me. After a lot of telephone calls, to numbers that are no longer in service, I found one number that I didn't have to spend days hanging on to be answered. It turned out that some sort of block had been put on our billing, from when we joined British Gas, for no apparent reason. I am waiting to see if the removal of this block sorts out our account. We will leave British Gas as soon as our contract runs out. We will never use them again. I am very surprised moneysavingexpert recommends British Gas.
Moneysavingexpert recommended British Gas as our electricity supplier. I followed their advice and let them set up our electricity supply with them. We have been with British Gas for about 4 months. Their app does not show usage, billing, off peak usage and savings. We have not had a statement at all. The app just says almost there providing a statement. This level of non service is unacceptable and I would leave British Gas if it was not for the £50 leaving fee. I am considering reporting British Gas to Trading Standards and ofgem. I am appalled that moneysavingexpert recommended such a terrible company. I have learnt that you cannot trust moneysavingexpert and if you do use them you must do your own research into whatever they recommend before signing up.

Recommendations based on their commission only.
After requesting the best electricity and gas deals for my address, I spoke with someone on the phone. My current rates were better.
Two weeks later the phone calls every day started to tell me there was now a cheaper rate with British Gas available. They told me I have to leave my EV tariff with Octopus (not one of their providers) to go to standard tariff with British Gas only whilst my account is set up. I can transfer straight over to the EV tariff quoted.
Upon setting up my new account, I was told 5 working days, now I have been told another 8 working days. All whilst I am having to pay day rates to charge my car. Conveniently for them, their tariffs are now increasing before my extra 8 working days are up.
I submitted a complaint to be told 14 working days for that.
Do not believe the advice this website gives you. I am now paying more than I was and I am locked in tariffs with exit fees.
EDIT:
Money saving expert have said they don’t operate this service, yet because I live in a new build I had to leave my number with them for a call back. This is who called me back and gave me this service. When googling the number it comes right back to money saving expert.

I joined the MSE Forum a while back and am intrigued by the issues raised by members and the range of replies given by other "Forumites".
Some issues are moral dilemmas. Some involve legal matters. Sadly, some Forumites seem to be underqualified to give advice, but others are well informed. Issues raised are often ones I had never thought about - including legal entitlements others may have over your property [even when that is freehold].
Well worth joining the Forum, but keep eyes open!
