Thank you for the advice you gave my husband to play the lottery just for fun. As a result, he stopped spending money on it. Lately, he has been spending his time and money on gardening, growing new plants, and caring for them.
I have never tried my luck by buying a lottery ticket, but my husband used to be severely addicted to gambling and spent a significant amount of our hard-earned money every week. I thought he had stopped buying lottery tickets for a while, but last week, while cleaning the box room, I was surprised to find a large stash of scratch cards. There were 962 scratch cards in total. I don't know how much they cost altogether, as some of them cost as much as £5 each.
In my opinion, the lottery is a regressive tax that exploits the wealth of individuals and families who are financially disadvantaged and burdened by life's hardships. Wealthy and well-informed individuals do not fall for the lottery scam because they realize it is a trap.
Lousy scam ,6 lines, won 2 quid, for £12 bet
Absolute shame of a company
Won £1 on the lottery. That's an insult. Costs £2 to play. Received an email informing me I've won something. Imagine the disappointment when I read I'd won a £1. Looks like the lottery is becoming a scam. It's about time the public started boycotting the lottery. There's other lotteries out there with better prizes. The Irish Lottery for one.

Why do they not listen to the people.. why ?

what a shambles , licence should be revoked immediately
Its a mugs game , last night no winners of the top 2 draws and only 75 people in England Ireland scotland and Wales had 5 numbers , wrap your head around that.
How to ruin a business in one easy lesson. Prior to the changes to the National Lottery in June - a spokesman for 'Allwyn' stated: “We’re forecasting that the new Lotto format will generate millions of pounds more in sales of the game in a typical week". I wonder if Allwyn can now confirm that sales have indeed increased dramatically since they drastically changed the prize structure? I actually suspect it's very much the opposite. Why the now very much obviously lower amounts to weekly jackpots? Well, how else are they able to fund their contractual obligations to so-called 'good causes'. These changes have been a complete failure - for players that is. As for 'scratch cards' - you would be as well giving your money directly to charity or throw your cash away in the street. There's been a massive drop off in scratch card prize wins. Everybody can see that. The National Lottery now urgently needs a complete change. Or it will continue to fail in all of its objectives.
I play the National Lottery regularly and find its current prize notification emails increasingly irritating.
The email simply says that I have “won a prize”, requiring me to log into my account to discover what I have won. Repeatedly, the “prize” turns out to be £1.
There is no obvious reason why the amount cannot simply be stated in the email. Other lottery operators manage to do this perfectly well. At the very least, a £1 win could be described as a “small prize”.
Instead, the current wording gives the impression that these emails are being used as an engagement device to encourage customers to return to the website and log in, even when the amount won is trivial.
I have complained directly to the National Lottery about this. I am also clearly not alone, as many other customers have raised exactly the same issue.
If I have won £1, just tell me I have won £1. Don’t make me log in to find out.

This has really gone downhill. Firstly there's the £1 'prize' instead of a free ticket, which as everybody points out is a joke (and must be a real admin burden). And then I recently tried to log-in and found that the button was greyed out. The only way to find out what's going on is to ring them, which I did, only to run into an automatic system which required me to state my postcode. However, there must be something wrong with my voice, because the system absolutely refused to recognise the postcode I gave! So I have no way to get into my account. Is this a devious way to stop me cancelling it?
Edit: I did try the suggestion of using the chat function, and as expected it was just a bot (not even Artificial Intelligence, just Real Stupidity) that would only have been useful if I had a generic 'forgot my password' problem. So no thanks to Allwyn there, either.
In the end, I tried changing my password, and that got me in. Why, I'm not sure...
Are there any better lotteries out there? Preferably ones where the minimum prize is at least worth as much as it costs to enter.

I am fed up with alwyns replies that they are making more effing millionaires at the expense of everyone else that wins these dreadful smaller amounts the old format was better for everyone!!!
Dreadful since it was taken over. Just tried to check set for life should’ve been drawn at 8pm now 8.48 still no results. Should be taken off them and given to a company who can run it fairly and correctly.

Absolutely useless with login issues and very confusing

I have just won £1 Hooray! Why on earth have Alwyn changed this from a free go? I have just been reading the reviews here and it seems they keep giving out the same robotic answer. It’s simple for me I’m out. I will delete the app and walk away.
Really pointless & a big money grab now ! 2 numbers & you win a measly £1 & the ticket cost £2 ! The whole lottery needs looking into & realigned BUT as usual these days they arent listening & dont care what customers think ! Needs a massive audit & overhaul
I stopped playing Lotto on June 7th when the new format came into force. Last night for some unknown reason I thought I’d give it a go. I wagered £10 and ‘won’ £1.
Like millions of others I was disappointed but I knew the odds were massively against me.
We know that Allwyn are losing a colossal amount of money as a result of their decision to change the Lotto format so I’m not trying to give them advice as such, let’s face it there are enough people trying to do that already!
This is a simple request on behalf myself and, I’m sure, millions of others.
Christmas is only 3 months away. How about you forget about the usual special draws etc. and give the British public what they really want. Swallow your stubborn pride, admit that the changes that you made in the summer have not worked and are going to continue to hurt everyone including yourselves, us ‘punters’ and, most importantly, the charities who depend so desperately on you.
Revert to the old format in the New Year and return to the ‘win win’ for all involved instead of continuing blindly down the ‘lose lose’ road.
The new lottery is just awful. I won a £1 the other week, that's an insult. At least you got a free go with 2 numbers under Camelot. Obviously no one is taking onboard what the people are saying!

Antwort von The National Lottery
I've never spoke to a single person who thinks this format is an improvement on the last. You need at least 5 numbers for a return that's only half decent. If your in a syndicate that reduces it even more.
We have until October then we're calling it a day. We're moving to multiple irish lottery tickets, especially now they have the bonus ball boost. Also i wonder how much the lottery is raking in from people who dont bother collecting the pound prize. Will they listen to the customer, no chance. What a shambles.
Let’s get one thing straight.
If it costs £2 to enter and you “win” £1 you haven’t won anything! You’ve lost £1!!
