Update on my experience with National Motoring Lawyers

It genuinely saddens me to read reviews from other former clients describing concerns that appear similar to some of the issues I experienced myself, particularly around communication, fees, representation and disputes arising after the solicitor-client relationship ended.

I want to make very clear that I can only speak for my own personal experience. I cannot verify what happened in anybody else’s case, and everyone’s circumstances may be different.

In my own case, I paid substantial fees because I believed I was paying for specialist representation and proper preparation. I have previously explained my concerns regarding communication, preparation for my hearings, the evidence available to my representative at trial and the overall service I felt I received.

My dissatisfaction is not simply because my criminal case did not go my way. Lawyers cannot guarantee outcomes. My concern has always been about how I believe my case was handled and the level of service I received for the money I paid.

I ultimately lost confidence in the firm and did not wish to continue with an appeal. A dispute subsequently arose concerning further fees, and National Motoring Lawyers have now taken me to court. That matter will be determined through the proper legal process, and I will respect that process.

There has also been a dispute concerning the reviews I have posted about my experience. I find that particularly upsetting because I believe consumers should be able to describe their genuine experiences—positive or negative—provided they do so truthfully and responsibly.

I am not posting this to insult anyone, damage a business, or encourage abuse towards National Motoring Lawyers. I am posting because this has been an extremely stressful experience for me and because I believe people considering legal representation should ask detailed questions about fees, preparation, who will actually represent them, what happens if a hearing date changes, and what further charges may arise.

Seeing other people describe experiences that resonate with aspects of my own is difficult to read. Anyone who has had concerns about a professional service should use the appropriate complaint and legal channels and keep proper records of their correspondence, payments and agreements.

My own case is now going through the court process. I will allow the evidence and the proper legal process to determine the dispute rather than making allegations about matters that have not yet been decided.

I will keep people updated on my own case and my own experience as it progresses.

I hope everyone involved is treated fairly, respectfully and according to the evidence.

Paid for a solicitors, got a debt collector instead. Bully mentaility and jump on a vurlnerable situation. No communication, only emails gotten were regarding payment, no named contact and cancelled. But then got taken to court for small claims because i cancelled. AVOID!!!

I have had an extremely disappointing experience with this firm. In my experience, there was very little consideration for the human element involved in what is already a stressful and serious situation.

Communication was extremely poor, with long periods of no response and very little meaningful contact from my caseworker. I was also charged for specialists recommended by the firm, but I did not feel that their involvement adequately addressed the issues relevant to my defence.

One of my biggest concerns was the lack of communication about my legal representation. I was not given adequate information about who would represent me at trial, and I did not have a proper opportunity to discuss my case with the person representing me beforehand. I was also charged throughout the case without feeling that the work being carried out or the costs involved were properly explained or discussed with me.

Overall, I found the service unprofessional and lacking in communication, transparency and value. I am extremely dissatisfied with the way my case was handled and intend to raise my concerns through the appropriate complaints process, including the relevant Ombudsman procedure.

Based on my experience, I would strongly encourage anyone considering using this firm to ask detailed questions about communication, representation, costs and exactly what level of support they will receive before proceeding.

Without going into too much detail the service I received from this firm was inadequate , culminating in my lawyer arriving 45 minutes late and me having to represent myself as I was unable to liaise with him prior to entering the Courtroom .
They pursued me for extra fees nonetheless which I took all the way to small claims as i was confident I owed nothing. They did not bother to attend mediation and they did not bother to attend court despite being stupid enough to pay all fees. I won my case against them yesterday. It was not dismissed due to their non attendance, but after 30 minutes of me testifying and the Judge surveying and studying all requested paperwork submissions, she dismissed their claim against me as she found in favour of me in accordance with consumer goods act.
If you have a contract, and can prove under Consumer goods Act that you received appalling service from NML , I suggest fighting their demands for more and more money right into Court. It cost me nothing. They paid all Court fees.
Update, I have my outcome in writing.
Just to reiterate:
They did not turn up to court requested mediation
They did not present any court requested paperwork
They were absent in court on the day
They have proven they are incapable of representing themselves .
So please think twice before choosing them to represent you.

Unfortunately my experience is far too different from what most of the experiences here seem like….though the police never charged me as they later sent an NFA email to me. However I have already contacted and engaged the NMLs should the police charge me to court for an alleged drug driving (which I didn’t even do in the first place)but after all of that, I have called so many times to sick what the next line of action is but nobody would attend to me… just some customer care promising to pass me on to legal reps which never came up…quite surprised as I thought what if my case gets to court?… is this how hard it’ll be to even get hold of some legal representation?….Not convinced one bit really…

Firstly I cannot thank Sandra Cooper, David Houldcroft and Mr Lucas enough, all three of them were exceptional. I was in the very fortunate position that I could afford the very best and none of them disappointed. If you need a case winning Mr Lucas and Mr Houldcroft are the gents to go too!

Having said that, National motoring lawyers themselves as the third party provider are sadly not so great. Communication is extremely poor, and they are extremely aggressive in money chasing tactics. I was told after paying thousands in case costs they they would pull out of representing me if I didnt pay X amount by 12pm on a certain day. The tactics used were fairly shocking. This is not a representation of the solicitors appointed they were fantastic but I would be aware that the third party provide NML could do a much better job with customer service and communication. You do not want to be bombarded with invoices without warning or explanation as to what they are for when you are already facing stress. This is the reason its a 4 not 5 star review.

I would never trust this lawyers
They lie to me took money of £2800.

When couldn't pay any more i did go to court by my self because I lost my jobs .
Now then send me a bill £862.50
I would say nobody to use their service this bad service.

This company worked with me professionally from the start. I wasn't satisfied with the first representative I was sent, and he was replaced. Ms Heywood (and the case management team) took a tricky case and achieved a successful result. Other reviewers have mentioned that they don't update you step by step, but in court Ms Heywood was fully prepared and her work was impressive. I have no complaints, but be aware that their services don't come cheap.

National Motoring Lawyers provided an excellent service. Their advocates were well chosen to support the facts of the case and were extremely efficient and knowledgeable. Allowing a quick and speedy process in terms of the evidence to collect so they could present it accordingly. The partnership between you and them is vital in getting the right result for both. At both court appearances the advocate was well informed and worked tirelessly to get the case ended as soon as possible. This wasn't possible in my case but eventually due to their persistence the case was dismissed. I couldn't have done it without them. I also like the one fee for everything approach so all costs from the outset are clear. My only slight disappointment is how long it is taking to hear about compensation. 8 months and counting.

National Motoring Lawyers have been amazing from start to finish. They delivered exactly what they promised and achieved a fantastic result for me.
Aaron was excellent throughout, responding to emails promptly, keeping me updated, and taking the time to explain anything I didn't understand.
Neil, my reviewing lawyer, was also great and kept me informed throughout my case.
Mr Richard Berman represented me at my first court hearing for my plea. He was incredibly helpful, explained everything clearly, always answered my calls, and responded to my emails. He made the whole process much less stressful.
Mr Philip Lucas was an absolute godsend. He represented me at trial, and paying the extra to instruct him was worth every penny. I had originally wanted him for the trial, but he wasn't available at the time. Fortunately, he became available just one day before the trial. Despite the short notice, he thoroughly reviewed all the evidence the night before. On the day of the trial, he prepared the defence argument in around 40 minutes and secured a Not Guilty verdict.
