I don't know where to begin with how terrible my experience was with NHL. It was awful from start to finish; incredibly long delays for no reason, months without any updates or progress, incredibly rude staff, no senior escalation point as the Directors are "not client-facing", staff changes with no communication to me, constant errors, I had to do a huge amount of the work for them. I could go on and on. I dis-instructed them after 10 months and instructed a new firm who completed by chain-free sale from start to finish in just 8 weeks.

I spent tens of thousands of pounds, and hundreds of hours, during this process and would very, very strongly advise against using this firm for any instruction.

I wanted to take some time to share my overall experience with NHL throughout my property purchase.

Buying a new-build property is a big commitment and, as you would expect, the process can sometimes feel stressful and uncertain. There are a lot of different stages to navigate, and having a team supporting you through the legal and conveyancing side makes a real difference.

Overall, I have been happy with my experience with NHL. They have helped guide me through the process and have been able to explain things when I have needed clarification. There have been times when I have needed to follow up on email queries, and on occasions I would have appreciated a little more clarity around when certain payments would be taken, particularly from a budgeting perspective. However, these have been relatively minor points within what has otherwise been a positive experience.

A particularly positive milestone was reaching exchange, which has now taken place ahead of the 9 October target date that had been set. I was pleased to receive confirmation by phone and then in writing, and it was a great feeling to know that this important stage had been achieved within the expected timeframe.

NHL have also clearly explained the next stage, with completion taking place on notice once the property is ready. I now have a better understanding of what will happen from here and am looking forward to the final stage of the process.

Overall, I have been pleased with the service I have received from NHL. The purchase has involved a lot of moving parts, but they have helped me navigate the legal side and get to this important stage.

I am now looking forward to completion and, ultimately, getting the keys to my new home. Thank you to everyone at NHL who has supported me throughout the process so far. I know it has been a team effort from Isaac, Lauren, Grace, and everyone else involved.
