Everything for £1 was the idea of our founders in 1990 and we're still true to that great vision today, only at Poundland.

Why is the govt trying to save Poundland?
Read in the press today that the govt is "helping" to find a last minute buyer for poundland.have they not read some of the experiences on here?I can only think that it's because it would look bad if all the Poundlands shut as many are anchor stores in working class areas.probably a losing battle as all around high street stores slated for boarding out of business with hardly any new arrivals.uk.i know peep wouldn't be seen dead in a poundland.waitrose type folk.this store has so many issues.smashed windows not repaired.,constant trubble, the epi centre of town centre vandalism shoplifting and louts hanging out.rumour has it more than 1 customer has received euro coins instead of pound coins in change.maybe better for us all if they do go?peace at last?
Greed and complex pricing will soon see the demise of Poundland.
A few years ago Poundland was great and lived up to its name when everything was a pound.
Since it's competition Pound World ceased trading Poundland increased prices of lots of items above a pound.
Plenty of examples of ridiculous price increases, for example Kodak rechargeable AA batteries previously £1 for 2 batteries which was reasonable at the time. The batteries had a low capacity of only 500mah compared to batteries in other shops having a typical capacity of 2000 to 2500mah.
The much higher capacity batteries where around £6 to £8 for 4 batteries.
Poundlands price was fair a £1. But when I last looked, the same Kodak 500mah 2 cell battery pack had an exponential price increase to £3 making them very poor value putting them in the rip off category. Lots of people won't realise that for example if you put them in a torch you'd only get a quarter or less time out of them before needing to recharge them compared to using others offering a capacity of 2000mah or more. So like many products the quality is still inferior but the management has sky jumped the prices to a point where it makes full priced items at stores like Boots and Tesco's far better value.
Greed and complex pricing will no doubt soon see the demise of Poundland.
Very bad customer service , someone very unqualified!
The man there was racist and ignorant of the rules for returns. He refused to return the item , even though it was clearly written that returns of such items were allowed . Selly Oak Shopping centre,Birmingham, B29 6SN
Some of their employees not qualified at all , and they look to customer with disrespect as they learn at home .
I was in French gate Poundland…
I was in French gate Poundland Doncaster and asked what was happening with the shop his reply was, l don't care so long as they keep paying me, this was I believe a male manager
Poundland Blackpool
Poundland - Bank Hey Street What can I say , there’s never any room to Manoeuvre my wheelchair due to irresponsible staff deciding to stack the shelves during the day , the shelves should be full and ready for the customers first thing in a morning , and not at noon , the shop is untidy and the way they have items for sale on exiting the shop near the door is bizarre!! I’ve seen items I want on leaving the store and have had to asked a member of staff to grab me the items and then go back into the store to pay for them , the queuing system is diabolical & who ever designed that needs help. I accidentally clipped the shelving unit with my wheelchair and I did apologise and as I was leaving the shop after 15 mins I heard a staff member say at the top of her voice .. It’s her over their she’s damaged the corner shelf .. Well dear if you didn’t have stock & staff blocking the isles then I maybe could have avoided accidentally clipping the unit .. but to shout out only as I were leaving the store especially after I apologise isn’t very mature now is it !!! Very Rude one would say !!!
Not surprised the company is in…
Not surprised the company is in financial trouble... the staff are poorly trained and treat customers like dirt... I went to purchase £100 worth of shower gel and shampoo, got to the till to pay to be told all tills are closed and use the self check out, of which I will not use!! The only people in the store sales floor was me and the store assistant... asked to pay through the till, answer NO!! Of course, I left the trolley full of goods and walked out, never to return...
Beware! ( Price rises!! )
Beware!! Poundland Whitby!! round boxes of chewing gum now £2 each and reading glasses £2 pair. !! Won't be buying those anymore!! 😜

rude, very rude.
Shopping in poundland Erdington.
While waiting to use the self checkout i could hear the person behind to counter till named Susan, talk to the male gent worker like he was something off her shoe. He was polite to her, he was just trying to find out if she had seen someone walk out without paying.
She shouted at him like he was a naughty child. I asked him if the camera he was wearing was on all the time, he said sadly No.
He then tried to ask her something else, she said i dont have time, i am on my own here. He said no problem i will come back in a bit. She told him not to bother.
She was then very rude to the next customer, shouting saying hurry up, i am on my own here.
If she had spoke to me in that manner, i would have insisted to speak to the manager.
The man was just trying to do his job. He looked very embarrest at the way she shouted at him. To be honest if it had been me i would have walked out. No one should come to work and be shouted at in such a manner.
It was obvious she could not do the job properly.
She could not cope with customers keeping coming.
The man deserves to be treated decent.
I would have sacked her on the spot.
Gloucester Poundland, never again!
Had three items in my basket and went to pay. There was no one on the tills but the lady said she would do it for me on the self serve. That's not what I wanted as I like to be served and talked to by a human. Eventually she called for someone to serve me on the tills but the look the lady gave her colleague told me that she wasn't happy about it. I said to her that as she wasn't happy about having to do it I told her to forget about my shopping and I left the shop. I have decided to vote with my feet and never shop in Gloucester Poundland again.
Great customer service
I visited the Camberley store to buy 70 Advent Calendars which I give as Christmas Thank Yous to all the staff in my local GP and Pharmacy surgeries. An extremely pleasant and helpful young man called Jake sorted out my order, placed them carefully in a large shopping trolley , rang it all up at the till and then walked with me about 1/4 mile to where my car was parked and loaded the car. He offered to help, I didn't have to ask.
What a wonderful example of great customer service .
Amazing customer service
Went into Poundland in Brighton
Went into Poundland in Brighton, London Road six weeks ago with my wheelchair bound mother and we wanted to go down to the lower ground floor to Pep & Co clothing. Unfortunately, the lift was not in use (broken down) this branch is the only one in Brighton that actually sells clothing by the way. Spoke to a member of staff who just shrugged and said they were going to get it fixed, that was it, no when or anything. We returned to the store today; Monday 5th October 2026 and STILL the lift is not working! Again asked a staff member when it would be sorted out and again she shrugged and said "Dunno, we can't get anyone out to do it." come on, surely there's a lift repair company assigned to such a big chain store? Obviously this prevents disabled people from buying items from Pep & Co clothing. Also, this store has really gone to the pits in recent years, half the shelves are empty and not restocked for days, no wonder a lot of their stores are closing down.
Went to Speke at 7.05pm on Saturday…
Went to Speke at 7.05pm on Saturday 3/10. And the doors were locked although it doesn’t close until 7.30. The staff obviously wanted to go home early!
30 days return policy
Just want to let everyone know that when you buy any liquid product from Poundland they do not return them what so ever. You do not have a 30 day refund policy. This is absolutely unacceptable i purchased some hair products that were rubbish and wanted to return them and they would not allow this. They said they have a notice in small print on the shop window stating they do not offer a 30 day return on liquids. This is absolutely rubbish.
Went to Colchester store
Went to Colchester store, just for a few seasonal bits and pieces, and ended up buying all sorts, food, essentials, seasonal bits, shop well stocked, and in good order,(well it was, untill loads of school kids came in and demolished the place) but staff were polite, and check out staff were efficient and friendly, quality of goods variable but it is a POUND SHOP.

As international students in the UK, we’re so grateful for Poundland! They offer such a great variety of groceries, kitchen equipment, and everyday essentials at very affordable prices. It makes settling into a new country much easier for students like us.
Thank you, Poundland, for making things more affordable and accessible. We’re truly grateful! ❤️🇬🇧 Aarati Thapa Magar
Refund refused
I purchased trousers in store weston super mare whilst on holiday. Tried to return them to tonbridge which your website mentioned but it’s closed. Secondly decided to take to Croydon but staff member refused items as the store doesn’t sell clothing. I had the receipt and even offered to do an exchange, but staff said they couldn’t take item as they don’t sell clothes! There is no mention of this rule on your website. I will now have to take a trip to maidstone where I hope to receive a refund?
Bought their clogs
Bought their clogs. They melted in hot weather. This caused a light burn.
I complained on LinkedIn and they simply delete my comments.
