Republic used to be good
Republic used to be good. Since being sold to Dish it has just gone downhill. Half the time I cannot receive calls or call people. The calls I can get through are choppy and people can't hear me. My text messages will be delayed. I got a new phone thinking it might have just been old, but I am seeing the same issues.
I called customer support and they were emphatic that I call on a different phone, but who has 2 phones lying around to call support on? Plus support has now been outsourced and the support person couldn't understand what I was talking about and seemed to have very little understanding of what was going on. This used to be worth the money and now it's not.

Used to be good.. Republic has lost my business.
Have had them for a number of years (somewhere between 5-8 years). The past two weeks, phone calls were not connecting, and calls to me were not connecting, and went right to voicemail.
Seems that after talking to customer support, Republic has upgraded their network, and the network my device used has been shut down. The only option to continue with Republic Wireless is to buy a new phone (and probably a new plan, too).
It's been nice Republic, but it's time to move on to another provider.

stay away!! It has been a nightmare since they were bought by dish and it has been such a horrible experience trying to get my service switched while keeping my number.

DO NOT do business with Republic…
DO NOT do business with Republic Wireless. When they paired with Dish earlier this year, I lost service for a week with no solution from customer support. Then when I ported my number to Mint, I had just been charged for 12 months service with Republic, and instead of refunding me, they credited the amount to my no longer active account. They have denied my request for a refund since June 2022 and I no longer believe this will ever be resolved.

They were great until dish bought them. Data isn't going as far as it used to so the cost is going up. I plan to switch next month.

Text messages don't go through but display as sent
My text messages periodically won't go through, but display as sent fine on my end. This has happened several times, where I call Republic Wireless support, they ask me to turn my phone on and off/take many days to have technical staff actually look into the problem. They then say it's solved and it works again for only a couple months.

All of a sudden, WITHOUT ANY NOTICE, You have NO service for calling or receiving calls!
All of a sudden, no calls coming in or going out. They cut off immediately. I am 69 years old and on the road past midnight and cannot make or receive a call. Rebublic website states "Republic Wireless now supports four generations of legacy plans; Republic DEFY plans, Republic 1.0 Plans, Republic Refund (2.0) Plans, and most recently, the My Choice (4.0) Plan (formerly called Clear Choice 3.0 Plans). These plans are no longer available for activation, Members currently enjoying these plans may continue to do so until they upgrade to our 5.0 Plans." but this is not true. It is all of a sudden and you have no service. Upon calling customer service which is now by Dish in the Phillipines, I was told you had to have Dish plan and new sim card that had to be mailed to you before any call service restored. In addition, you have to pay a month in advance although you still have time left in the month that has already been paid. Dish way to be guaranteed a month service. They said refund on remaining time will be refunded to you, but that is yet to be seen. In the meantime you still do not have any calling service until new Dish sim card arrives and activated. Were you advised this was going to happen on a certain day - NO!
Furthermore, Republic Wireless roaming was unlimited. Now I have read, Republic by Dish has limited roaming to 50 minutes, and then they cut off your phone service. I believe this is to scam you into choosing a higher cost service. In researching, other providers, such as Consumer Cellular, offer unlimited roaming on their unlimited talk, text and 1GB data plan.
And response is which I do not use either or any social media, which acclimates to "NO RESPONSE"
If they can post this automatic standard response to complaint, they should fix problems. Otherwise, it indicates nothing is going to be done or fixed.

Porting number from Republic Wireless has been a Kafkaesque nightmare
Have been trying to port my number from Republic Wireless for over a week. Have spent hours on the phone with customer service agents with no results. Have repeatedly been given date and time when the number will transfer, but it doesn't transfer.
I am convinced RW is blocking the transfer of my number. The FCC requires carriers to transfer numbers, so I guess my only option is to use the FCC online complaint service to file a complaint about Republic Wireless.

Don't use Dish Republic Wireless (Scam)
Like Joel (Sept. 27,2022) we used to be a longtime customer of Republic Wireless. After Dish took over it went bad. We also switched to Mint Mobile and tried to get a refund for our remaining money as we also would pay 12 months at a time to get the discount. We've tried 3 times and were always told our refund was coming. Never received it and gave up as well. Also, on our account it charged us the amount of the refund to make a zero balance. This is OUR money and they won't give it back! Dish is a scam company. Don't use them! And, no, I won't reach out to them on social media as we've already reached out to them several times. We're just tired of the run around.

republic/dish never again
Samsung a32 worst phone ever. Dish cell service worst ever. Dish used to be a decent company, not anymore. All this makes me remember the defy-xt as good times. Never though I would say that.

Stay away - Dish destroyed Republic
Stay away. As Republic it was good, as Republic by Dish it stinks. Customer service gives you the run around, and Dish takes away services you had and paid for. Then they keep dialing back service to long time customers, forcing them to upgrade to a new plan. Guess what, your phone won't work on the new plan - you have to buy a phone - oh, so sorry, we can't give you the deal on our page, that's only for new customers. So, take away what was contracted for, force change, then punish for the change. You bet I'm looking for a new service.

Bait-and-Switch company!
I have been a long time customer of Republic Wireless, and didn't have a lot of complaints till just recently, when they switched the service to Dish.
I received an email on June 9 with promotional offers if I upgrade to the new Dish plan - which I did. But they would not honor a promotional rate, and kept charging me a full price. I called customer service several times, and spoke also with a supervisor today. They gave me all kinds of excuses:
1 - "discount only for two-lines, and you have one line";
2 - "well, discount is for one line, but promotion already expired";
3 - "oh, you are not eligible for promotion, and email was sent to you by mistake"...
Customer service is very difficult to understand, and they don't seem to know what is going on.
Bate-and-switch company that has no respect for their customers!!! Filing with a BBB, and looking for a new provider.

Great coverage and great price!
I had Verizon and wanted to switch because of the price I was paying. I live in a rural area and was very concerned about how my coverage would be because it’s not that great where I live. I took the chance and switched and figured I’d switch right back if it wasn’t a do-able signal. It turns out I get more bars and better data coverage than I did with Verizon. My bill is less than half what it was. I’m very happy. I’ve had them for about 3 months now.
Time to Leave Republic
Alright, we were loyal Republic customers for 8 years. We were very thankful for the cheap prices and dealt with the inconveniences because of those cheap prices (therefore the 2 stars instead of 1). But, with the merger with Dish things completely went to pot. We had to upgrade to new plans for some of our phones and the new plans had worse coverage not better. My son's and wife's phones would have no data if they didn't have 5G - it would drop completely. We were in WA DC and they had no coverage! In the middle of the capital - ridiculous. Also, with the merger to dish, voice mail stopped working. Also, everytime I texted my wife and my son I had to check to make sure it went through, if they didn't have 5G coverage a "chat" wouldn't go through and I'd have to switch to SMS - manually. Then, my wife's phone stopped getting texts at random. So, we knew it was time to go. We left -and here is the kicker, they WILL NOT delete your credit card information after you leave. I caused the biggest stink with the support department and they simply continued to insist that they "could" not do it and there was no one that I could talk to about deleting it. They kept offering for me to update it with a new card. How ridiculous. Like I'd give them another card. Anyways, buyer beware.

Every thing written here is true and more.
Every thing written here is true . I was with Republic Wireless for three years. NOW I live in Sucksville Wireless country. Run away from this company as fast as you can.
Now it is 10/6 I have been on hold with Republic for 59 minutes now trying to get them to release my phone number to a new carrier. The first " Port Out Pin " number they gave me didn't work, No surprise there. This company is truly terrible.
I have been a RW customer for 5-6…
I have been a RW customer for 5-6 years- had 2 other family members on our account and was happy with the service until this year when they were taken over by DISH. When I was required to switch to a new 5G phone, I considered other plans since I was being forced to buy a new phone, I decided to stick with the plan. Big mistake, this month my account showed that my credit card on the account needed to be updated- it was a valid card, but I re-entered the info to confirm. a week or so later, when I logged back in to acct, it still wanted me to update my payment - so I used a different credit card. Today, my cell service and texting stopped working and my account shows suspended. Called three times to the support number and I'm told they can't find my account and the reps are of no help whatsoever. The call center connects you to Boostmobile- so I presume they are merging the accounts from RW to Boost and unfortunately for people like me, it's all screwed up. I have no service other than internet over wi-fi and there is nothing on the RW website/account to help and calling in for any help is completely useless. I have just ordered a new phone with a new service.

I was with Republic Wireless since 2015…
I was with Republic Wireless since 2015 for the now-extinct $15/mo plan. The quality was always iffy, but I work from home so I could live with Wi-Fi calls and texting and I didn't need much data.
With DISH's takeover, not only does it cost $30/mo now, but my phone suddenly didn't work anymore. No calls, no texts, even on Wi-Fi. They wanted me to upgrade my plan and get a new phone.
For the past two years, I would pre-pay for 12 months of my bill for a discount. I was 2 months into this year's pre-pay when my phone stopped working. I switched to Mint Mobile to regain service.
I've been contacting Republic for a refund of those 10 unused months but they've been ignoring me. At this point I'm going to eat the cost because I don't have the time or energy to deal with this terrible company anymore.
Absolute bottom-barrel customer service after DISH's takeover. I don't recommend Republic for anyone.

HELL IS NOT HOT ENOUGH FOR THIS COMPANY
DIE! Omg this company is HORRIBLE. After years of spotty, crap service they got bought out by Dish - then - without warning, deleted 3 years of voicemails from my phone and axed wi-fi calling for my phone (again no notice). And charged me the full rate the next day! AAAAND they axed all onine tickets - so you can only CALL them when they SHUT OFF YOUR PHONE. GO TO HELL REPUBLIC!
Update: Their reply below says to contact them by Twitter and Facebook? You Kidding me?! Not only does it not give this option on their site, but how about you REINSTATE SUPPORT TICKETS like almost every other sensible company??

Not so awesome anymore
I had Republic Wireless for almost 10 years. It was my daughter's first cell phone company. they used to be "awesome" thats the word they always used in advertising and what we thought of them. they had a hybrid calling that nobody else offered. But then they sold out to DISH Network and it all went downhill fast. People started appearing offline, missing calls, missing texts, and everything got slow. Moving to another company was the only way to go and I did that. They block reviews on their FB page now because they are all so negative. RW isn't so awesome anymore now that they are Dish.

Completely Different Company with DISH
As a long-time RW customer, I am saddened by the changes DISH has brought. I have been trying to activate my voicemail with CS for two days and was finally told I would need to upgrade to another plan and that that may not work either.
I then called another number to get a guarantee on a refund of the remainder of my annual plan (ten months worth). I was very frustrated to hear that even though I was not getting the service I had paid for that I would probably not get a refund as the "system" determined that. When speaking with a supervisor, I was told the same thing and that my being frustrated could not override "the system" even though I was not getting what I paid for without voicemail. Humans are not in charge.
I have now filed a case with BBB and emailed the address shown on this TrustPilot. If you are thinking about this carrier, I would not suggest it unless you know you will never have a problem with service.
UPDATE: A stock reply was added to my review however I do not have, nor want, FB or Twitter. If DISH sees this, how about an email address to one specific person?
UPDATE #2:
A human contacted me due to my BBB complaint. I was refunded the unused portion of my annual plan. Thank you RW and goodbye.
