Less than Exceptional Service

My son got married in Dana Point on Friday Nov. 7, 2025. We wanted them to have a great experience so we decided to gift them a room at the "supposedly" best hotel in the Dana Point, CA, area, The Ritz Carlton. Well the experience was not so great. We asked for an upgrade to a better room....that did not happen. The room was small and hard to move around in. They were suppose to have champagne...it was not delivered on time. There were other things ordered for them that did not work out and was not delivered on time.
We decided to say good bye with a quick breakfast the next morning. This turned into a very bad experience and over 2 hrs...so much for quick. The only thing available was a $75 4 course brunch. The waiter came over and took the drink order....then nothing.....We were suppose to get a shared appetizer. It never came. I had to go to the check in hostess and angrily ask for our food/appetizer. We had been waiting for over an hour. The appetizer only came out at my angry insistence....It was guacamole and chips.....so it took over an hour to give us guac and chips !!!!!!! A manager person came over and we voiced our concern about the poor service. She apologized and promised to watch our food service from now on. We got the 2nd and 3rd course. Then waited for the dessert, which I had forgotten. We had been there for 2 hours by this time and was about to leave when someone said "what happened to the dessert?" I was tired, worn out and had completely forgotten. Once again we had to hail the waiter over and ask for our dessert. By this time and due to the long hour, we asked them to pack it up....which also took some time to do. It was a horrible experience and I was appalled at such bad service, for $75 a head, at what is suppose to be a high class hotel.
On my way out, I told the manager about the dessert issue and got a slim apology at best.
So what happened to this $2000 policy to provide excellent service. Or do you provide excellent service to certain people. So our attempt to give our children a great experience did not turn out so great.
The one star is well deserved.
I told the restaurant manager to check the cameras to verify just how long we had to wait to get our food.
In 2014 Herve Humler, the CEO, gave an interview on the “secrets of Exceptional Service”.
So where is this Exceptional Service because we certainly did not get any of it.

No privacy, no safety

Very disappointing experience in Madrid. A staff member entered my room without knocking while I was partially undressed. Instead of leaving and apologizing, he stayed and gave excuses. Management tried to justify this behavior rather than take responsibility. I felt unsafe and disrespected, completely unacceptable for a hotel that claims to be luxury.

DO NOT stay at the Ritz-Carlton

DO NOT stay at the Ritz-Carlton, Turks and Caicos. They overcharged me by $1,200.00 for a 2-day stay, and their transaction records do NOT match reality. They are scam artists and refuse to refund me. Very nice property, but already quite expensive. They essentially charge twice what they tell you the daily rate is.

After reviewing the posts here on…I found the posts to be genuine

After reviewing the posts here on trustpilot I have found that there is legitimacy for the origins and that the information was truthfully expressed. In analyzing the core issues most of the problems were international and dealt with guest services. There should always be a customer first attitude in this industry and accommodations should be made for loyalty members.

The best for events! - My fav in DC

As someone who attends professional events nearly every 20 days, I’ve experienced venues across the city, and The Ritz-Carlton in Washington, D.C. remains my top choice. The team here is simply outstanding—professional, attentive, and always ready to make every event seamless and enjoyable. The level of service is unmatched, from event coordination to the little details that elevate the experience. The private lounge is a personal favorite, offering exceptional service, an inviting atmosphere, and incredible desserts and cuisine. We’ve tried many locations in D.C., but this one consistently delivers excellence. The staff truly makes the difference!

Titanium Elite status not recognised at Ritz-Carlton’s

I recently booked to stay at Ritz-Carlton Istanbul as a Bonvoy Titanium elite member. I should have suspected this stay would go badly when nobody from the hotel sent me any personal pre-arrival email.
So I reached out to request a suite upgrade and asked if they would like me to request this via the app? No reply and on arrival they gave me a nice upgrade but unfortunately turns out this hotel does not extend lounge access nor complimentary breakfast for Titanium Elite members. There lounge is only for RC member so I am not sure why they are in Bonvoy program? After many calls with the duty manager it was clear they really did not want Bonvoys here so check out the next day and cancelled by 6 night stay there. I was made to feel very unwelcome and actually quite cheap but the hotel was actually very tired and seemed to be revenue driven.
I will not stay in Ritz Carlton brand again as it was all very embarrassing and stressful.

Used to be the place to stay. Fort Lauderdale hotel was appalling. The service is more akin to one star and cannot believe they can get all way with it.. really disappointed

Best hotel out there!!

As someone who travels often, I’ve had the pleasure of staying at many fine hotels, but The Ritz-Carlton, Los Angeles stands out as a shining example of excellence. From the moment we arrived, the service was impeccable. The staff was not only attentive but genuinely warm and welcoming, making us feel like valued guests from the very start.

The accommodations were beyond impressive. Our room was spacious, with an elegant design that managed to be both luxurious and comfortable. The attention to detail was evident in every corner, from the quality of the linens to the tasteful decor. And the view of the city skyline from our window was perfect, after a day of exploring the city.

What truly sets this hotel apart, though, is the level of personal care they extend to each guest. Every interaction, whether with the concierge, housekeeping, or restaurant staff, was handled with professionalism and genuine kindness. It's rare to find a place where service feels so seamless and natural.

Dining at the hotel was another highlight. The food was not only beautifully presented but full of rich flavors that reflected the care and creativity of the culinary team. The rooftop pool was the perfect place to unwind, with a serene atmosphere and stunning views.

In short, The Ritz-Carlton, Los Angeles exemplifies what true luxury hospitality should be: thoughtful, refined, and effortless. It’s a place where you feel taken care of in every way, and I look forward to returning

Nous avons pris un pass day via ressort…

Nous avons pris un pass day via ressort pass
Le temps n était pas propice nous avons donc voulu décalé la veille car il nous était proposé d annuler gratuitement jusqu'à la veille du pass day
Nous avons donc eu une personne de l hôtel au tel qui nous a dit qu il allait le faire sans souci et qu il nous rappelait pour valider la date.
Sans aucun apl nous avons rappeler le lendemain 9h
Idem aucun.souci on vous rappelle de suite

Vers 10h nous les recontactons pour bien valider la nouvelle date le temps étant pluvieux et même orageux , cette fois on nous informe que ce n est pas possible de modifier et qu il faut passer par ressort pass.
Bien sur je ne peux plus annuler vu que je suis hors délai alors que j aurai pu le faire la veille.

Cette fois je fais un mail à ressort pass qui me dit que je dois payer 85 euros pour modifier la date

Entre temps nous nous sommes déplacé donc 50 euro de uber car c est dans Le nord de miami beach et nous sommes sur brickell.
Il pleut l hôtel est très moche enfin les extérieurs ne ressemblent pas du tout à la photo côté pisicine, et la plage n en parlant pas !
Une honte nous sommes donc restés 5 min et repartis

A fuir !!!
Que ce soit la plate-forme de ressort pass ou cet hôtel

Peut être que si le temps avait été meilleur j aurai trouvé l hôtel plus joli et bien raté
Ils ont voulu que je vienne voilà le résultat 150 euros de perdu

Disappointed in The Ritz in Turks & Caicos

Booked for the week of 12/11-12/16/23. Travel agent notified your hotel many times before my arrival that my wife was very allergic to down/feather pillows, comforters, etc. and the they should be changed to polyester fill. The morning after the first night, my wife woke up with swollen eyes, horse voice and breathing problems. I checked the bedding and the pillows and comforter had down feathers in them. I sent an email with a picture confirming my findings to my travel agent (who was livid and said this was unacceptable) who promptly called your hotel.
Management sent up a team to change the bedding. The house keeping manager apologized (he even commented that my wife did not sound very well) and said that they would not charge us for the first night. I said fine. I waited 2 days and went to the front desk to see if I was credited the cost of 1 night. I only saw a $600 credit. I went up to my room and retrieved my itinerary showing that I paid $760 plus 27% tax. Total $965. I waited another day and retrieved a report of my debits and credits. I received another $400 credit. Fine. The morning of checkout, I went to the front desk to settle everything. After my expenses at your hotel, I was left with approximately a $485 credit. I told (Chen Winn?) to credit my credit card. She said that she could not do that. She said they gave me a credit to spend. I told her that no one ever mentioned that the credit the hotel was giving me was for me to spend. All I was told was that I would not be charged for the first night. So, I figured that if I was not paying for the first night, I should be refunded. I was not happy since due to the hotel's neglect, my wife was very close to going to your local hospital. Its a good thing she had a steroid pill to help her breath. I was very close to contacting my lawyer. Brandy became involved (she was on the telephone with my travel agent) as did Tousif Ahsan). They were much more helpful that the first person I spoke to when I tried to check out. After some time, they both agreed to make an exception and refund the $1000. The only stipulation was that they would be crediting my travel agent (who was the one who paid) and they would in turn, refund me. Fine.
Again, this was housekeeping mishap was unacceptable and could have cost my wife her life.
I also have an issue with BLT and the Italian restaurant giving bottled water even though I asked for regular water. I thought that was your policy of bottled water. I realized that it was not when I received the BLT bill and was charged $20 for 2 bottles. I was now armed with that knowledge for my next dinner at your Italian restaurant.
I asked for regular water when prompted. The waiter brought over an already open bottle of water and poured it. This time, when the bill came and I saw that I was being charged $10 for the bottled water, I made a complaint that I ordered regular water and the charge was removed. Does The Ritz need to resort to stuff like this to overcharge the customer?

As for the good, the staff was friendly and after that room housekeeping mishap, our room was impeccable for the duration of our stay.
