I recently attended a talk by Katie Evans on the Psychology of Horror Movies at the Capstone theater. She brilliantly dealt with how horror relates to the subconscious, and I enjoyed the evening very much being a big horror movie fan. I also loved leaning the history of the genre, it effects on society and it made me understand why I love to be scared.
It was an amazing night, I highly recommend it

I attended The Psychology of Horror with Katie Evans and it was genuinely outstanding. As both a lifelong horror fan and someone with an MSc in Psychology, I went in with a fairly critical eye, hoping for something that did justice to both fields. Katie absolutely delivered.
The session struck the perfect balance between academic insight and fan-level passion. She explored the history of horror in a way that felt fresh and meaningful, showing how the genre shifts in response to social themes, human behaviour, and political climates. It was exactly the kind of depth I was hoping for.
What impressed me most was how confidently and clearly she connected psychological theory to the evolution of horror tropes without ever losing the fun of the genre. It felt thoughtful, well‑researched, and genuinely exciting.
I’d love to see more from Katie—especially sessions that dive even deeper into specific areas of horror and the psychology behind why they affect us the way they do. This was a brilliant experience, and I’d recommend it to anyone with even a passing interest in horror, psychology, or both.

I attended the Psychology of Horror Movies talk at the Glee Club in Cardiff, and it was a really fun time.
Firstly, I would like to mention that this was the first time I have been to a talk like that before, and I would say the speaker, Katie Evens, knows her stuff. Being a huge fan of horror and an aspiring media student in college, this was really intellectual and taught me a lot on the psychology side of things. One of my initial ideas for my college FMP was loosely around this topic that I plan to revisit next year, which I will hopefully cross-reference.
Unfortunately, the Q&A section was cut short due to the time constraints, which I don't think was a huge problem, as I could have sat there for ages listening to Katie talk about the different eras of horror; hell, I would go back just to watch a full Q&A.
It was also good that the talk wasn't all serious, Katie would be moving around, being expressivemaking jokes here and there refrencing personal life, experiances and horror refrences of course, also the fact that she is a psycho theripist helps people know that she knows what shes talking about and that their is a real profesional up on stage.
I really wish she had spoken for longer, and i hope she comes back to do somthing similer again.

I just attended the Psychology of Horror Movies talk hosted by Seed Talks in Cardiff at The Glee Club and my experience was mostly underwhelming.
The talk itself is 1 hour 45 minutes roughly, which for the price of £18 (final release tickets) is not inexpensive compared to other events you can go to for a cheaper price and longer run times.
The talk itself was fine however I think the structure itself was better suited for a workshop than a roughly 2 hour presentation, for someone whose already familiar with basic concepts in psychology it definitely wasn't anything groundbreaking if youre going in already knowing some basic background information on the subject. I was waiting for the speaker Katie Evans to give insightful information, new ways of looking at the subject and/or a different perspective. Instead Evans attempts to capture the entire subject of her talk in less than 2 hours (including Q&A's), the result is her glossing over, summarising obvious facts and missing out on going into a level of depth on her chosen subject due to the time restraint.
It should be said, being a charming orator/public speaker and the art of speaking is in itself an art which takes years of skill to hone. As Evans herself said during her talk she isn't a writer and by the messy structure of the talk its quite evident. That being said, I did like when Evans would give quirky insights into her life growing up, her comedic wit and interesting examples and comparisons from other horror films was enjoyable to listen to however that did little to turn the talk from one I'd highly recommend for the time and price for which I experienced.
In short, if you want to go to a talk for the sake of going to a talk then Seed Talks is worth your time, if your looking for plentiful, deeply researched and insightful information you wouldn't get anywhere else on the subject chosen by the talk, I instead recommend either buying a highly informative book on the subject, listening to a podcast/lecture series or accessing the information online as the talk you're likely to go to won't be as informative or insightful depending on the speaker, who regardless of the topic has to cram a significant amount of information down to less than 2 hours which won't make for enough key learning insights.
Overall, would not recommend.

I recently attended the ADHD and weight management course delivered by Joanne Lee and Lisa Smith, and it was excellent.
As a nutritional therapist specialising in ADHD, and with lived experience, I felt they both handled this sensitive topic with real nuance and compassion. The course clearly explains how ADHD affects appetite, cravings, motivation and emotional regulation, and offers genuinely practical, ADHD-friendly strategies that work with the brain rather than against it.
I am confident it will support many women with ADHD, and I will be very happy to recommend it.

Great series of lectures from academics across the country, we had Maria Balaet talking about the science of psychedelics, lots of science and citations about a topic with wide reaching consequences, lovely venue in Chester and the ticket was under £15.

This was my first Seed Talks event and I cannot recommend them enough. Living in Suffolk, it was too far (and costly) for me to travel to London to attend in person. So, I attended the online streaming of the event and it was fantastic! I felt as though I was there in person. I could choose which room/speakers I wanted to watch live and was able to catch up with the talks I missed through the recordings. Next time, I'd love to be able to attend an event of theirs in person, so I can join in with the workshops. Amazing speakers, highly qualified in their fields, sharing a lot of very topical and up to date research and personal experience. I feel much better educated/informed about all the topics covered at the event. Thank you to all the event organisers and hosts! Looking forward to the next one already. 🙏🏾

I discovered Seed Talks somehow on my road to understanding my AuDHD. Each talk has been helpful, informative, and most critically for me, based on actual research.
Most talks have been online, but even in Belfast we've had a few talks at a local venue too (thanks to James for flying over). Even the most recent talk, I learnt some new insights into the genetic development of AuDHD, and how to deal with the symptoms. And I've read quite a few books on the topic.
I must admit, I can't say much about other topic areas, but in regards to neurodivergence their talks are fully recommended.

As an academic and public speaker for many year I have to say that Seed Talks are the most professional and conscientious company I have worked for and provide an excellent service for both speakers and audience

The relevance to the audience and the calibre of speakers is exceptional. I travelled five hours to my first Seedtalks event, ADHD and woman, for the 1st of November and was absolutely blown away by how great the event was. It was well run and really apparent that those running it cared. I then signed up to the next event on the 31st of January. Seed talks staff are so mindful of individual needs and really responsive to requests. I’m looking forward to future events.

Super line-up of trusted speakers. Many options of subject areas delivered well. Technical issues occurred yet resolved quickly. Recordings released the day after so we could catch up on the sessions in the other rooms.
I really enjoyed the day. Thank you!

I cannot recommend Seed Talks enough. The workshops and events they run have genuinely made a difference to me.
Every event I have attended has been accessible, interactive and thoughtfully delivered. You do not always just sit and listen, you feel involved. The speakers and experts are knowledgeable but also human and relatable.
What really stands out is the sense of community. After attending an event, it feels like you are part of something. You meet so many like minded people who just get it. The WhatsApp groups they create help keep that connection going beyond the event itself, which is such a powerful touch.
Whether you are curious about a specific topic or simply want to expand your thinking, Seed Talks consistently delivers engaging, well run events that leave you feeling informed, inspired and connected.

I went to a talk about the Swiss psychologist Carl Jung a little while back and it was really fun and educational. Sometimes learning spaces can be quite stuffy, but the stylish venue, alongside the insightful and impassioned speaker made for a buzzy atmosphere and an upbeat audience. The schedule always appears packed with topical subjects that peak my interest, so will definitely be back soon. Would recommend to anyone happy to swap a pint at the pub for an evening of enjoyable and accessible learning with like-minded folk.

Great communication pre- course. The course was reasonably priced and included a whole day of informing sessions and workshops. (ADHD Summit). The materials provided were excellent and the organisation on the day slick. I'm definitely recommending to my friends!

I have been to a few different Seed Talks over the last few years and each one always leaves me feeling really inspired about the topic. Not only can you go and see someone talk about a passion topic, such as Ghibli but the next day you can go and find out all about ADHD & Autism. The platform is such a wealth of knowledge and I can't recommend them enough!
