I had a really positive experience with Skylight Psychiatry. Both Portia Owens and Debbie Ferreira were incredibly supportive, professional, and understanding throughout the process. They took the time to listen properly, made me feel comfortable, and explained everything clearly, which made a big difference.

Their approach felt genuinely patient-focused, and I never felt rushed or overlooked. It’s not always easy reaching out for support, but they made the whole experience much more manageable and reassuring.

Exceptional Drs and very quick service. Very kind and didn't not rush the process

I was sent relevant forms via Skylight and these covered areas such as childhood, adulthood, family and work/school environment etc. After completing the forms I was offered a remote interview with a psychiatric consultant. This probably took approximately 4 weeks. The interview took place and after 1hr and 20 mins, I was diagnosed with ADHD and medication was the way forward. I’m awaiting the report and was told this could take 4/6 weeks. I also am being referred to the ASD specialist team. The whole process was definitely worth the effort.

I couldn’t fault them at all up to this point. The online face to face assessment was really relaxed and my assessor made me feel comfortable when she noticed I was a bit on edge. It was also nice to be told I had ADHD there and then even though there was a caveat of it still needing to go through a checking process. The speed of it was faster than I expected too. I would recommend this to anyone else that needs it.

The service from Skylight was exceptional. Fully explained the process. Forms were easy to complete. David completed my online assessment and he was really understanding and explain things really well. Overall an excellent experience.

Assessment was a lot easier than I thought it would be. I dreaded having a long Assessment but it wasn't that bad. Debbie was understanding and aloud me to be me. I didnt feel awkward when I struggled at times with historical questions from childhood.

The process was so quick from start to finish less then 2 months. I was worried about the video call but Nisheeth Rajpal was very friendly, helpful and informative and kept me on task when I got side tracked . Overall the experience was fantastic and at almost 43 I wasn’t to sure if I was going to go through with the assessments but I’m glad I did and now have my diagnosis and will hopefully start my medication soon .

I am very grateful to Skylight psychiatry for helping me on my journey of getting a diagnosis of both autism and ADHD. I have been impressed by the timeframe they have seen me in and found my assessors professional, kind and supportive. They have helped to make what can be a difficult experience as pleasant as possible and I would highly recommend them to anyone seeking a diagnosis of autism or ADHD.

I can only write review of initial asessment but had an appointment the person was nice and told me straight away had ADHD and now have to wait to be placed on the med que, so far so good. Did exactly as they said they would so far.

I felt able to express myself freely. I felt heard and understood. The service and process was smooth and I got my assessment appointment much sooner than I expected. Overall, very grateful & happy with my experience.

After an extremely positive experience having my autism assessment in December 2024, I chose to go with Skylight again for my ADHD assessment. My husband and I had our video conference appointments within a few days of each other, and he had a very positive experience for his, so I was expecting a similar experience myself on Saturday. Unfortunately, I found the video appointment extremely draining, it lasted 75 minutes and I found the assessor very difficult to read, his responses were very neutral, and I didn’t feel put at ease or very comfortable talking with him. I became increasingly anxious through the assessment, and after about 50 minutes or so, I was exhausted and couldn’t think anymore. I said I was really tired and struggling, that I was feeling as if I was failing a test or something, and even though he’d said at the beginning that I could tell him if I got tired or needed to stop, he just chuckled and carried on asking more questions, which I struggled to answer, because I couldn’t think straight. I disclosed a history of abuse, assault and manipulation in my answers, but he still asked me again whether I had experienced any abuse. I didn’t feel heard or validated during the assessment, despite my best efforts to communicate as accurately and effectively as possible. We got to the end of the assessment, and he told me that I DID meet the criteria for a diagnosis of ADHD, and I was stunned, because of how he had made me feel that all my answers were inadequate during the assessment. I showed my surprise, and he then said “Well, only based on the information you’ve given me!” which then made me anxious that I’d misrepresented myself or that he thought I’d lied or exaggerated or something, and I was then anxious about whether my diagnosis is accurate. I finished the appointment and then became very upset. I was so confused and I felt like a failure because my appointment had been so challenging for me. I wondered if the way he spoke to me was a psychological ploy to make me struggle, to highlight my difficulties and make my symptoms more obvious … I don’t know. But it certainly wasn’t a positive experience for me, which I really wasn’t expecting. Maybe it was a personality clash, or maybe he was having a bad day, or maybe I’m too sensitive, or perhaps I’ve thoroughly misunderstood his way of communicating, verbally and non-verbally. I hate to give a negative review of someone, but I have to be honest.

My experience of the Skylight Psychiatry autism assessment was very disappointing and distressing. I do not feel the assessment fully captured the complexity of my presentation, particularly as a high-masking adult.

I felt the ADOS assessment relied too much on surface-level observation and did not properly explore the effort I use to mask, rehearse conversations, manage eye contact, and appear functional in professional or social settings.

The final report acknowledged several autistic traits, including social communication difficulties, sensory sensitivities, routines, repetitive behaviours, and childhood indicators. However, the conclusion stated that I did not meet the criteria for autism. I found this difficult to understand because the evidence recorded in the report did not seem to match the final outcome.

I was also concerned that the report appeared to place too much weight on the fact that I work, am married, and have children. In my view, this did not reflect the hidden cost of masking, including exhaustion, anxiety, shutdown, sensory overwhelm, and burnout.

A later independent multidisciplinary assessment in January 2026 reviewed more detailed evidence, including developmental history, parent information, masking measures, ADOS-2, and a detailed clinical interview. That assessment concluded that I do meet DSM-5 criteria for autism with a high masking profile.

Overall, I feel the Skylight assessment underestimated the impact of high masking and did not fully reflect my lifelong difficulties. I believe the report should be reviewed in light of the later diagnosis and additional evidence.

Very friendly, made me feel comfortable

From referral to diagnosis was really fast I was expecting to wait longer than I did so that was a nice surprise. Good contact throughout any questions I had before my appointment were answered in a timely manner. I got a lovely nurse Wioleta I couldn't have asked for a nicer person she really made me feel at ease and explained the next steps after diagnosis really well. I just have to wait a while now to get the report and any medication but I was also expecting that so it wasn't a surprise. I would really recommend them and will be pursuing my autism assessment through them as they told me at my ADHD assessment I show signs of autism as well which was helpful

I was dealt with quickly and very professionally, I was very comfortable in my assessment. Even under the circumstances of being so nervous and that’s a big trigger with my adhd, Pamela was so helpful and was great with explaining my diagnosis.
