After several years of old conservatory…
After several years of old conservatory leaking, Taverham Conservatories offered 3 options for me to consider. I am very pleased with the new roof and windows and their fitters worked really hard in less than ideal weather - and left no trace of disturbance when they'd finished.
Excellent!
Having recently purchased a house with a glazed roof conservatory I knew that I would have to do something to reduce the heat in the summer and retain warmth in the winter. I approached 2 Companies wanting an ultralite solid roof to replace the glazed roof. I selected Taverham because I felt they were a better 'fit' for me. It has been an excellent experience from meeting Graham in the office to Colin who undertook the survey, to Susanne and Sharon who kept me informed and arranged what I can only describe as a very slick process. Gary and Brad undertook the build with Connor plastering and Adam undertook the electrical work. Mark (I think that's his name) came to clean up and fix an extra downpipe. If I've missed anyone I apologise. All that's left is for me to paint the ceiling. I'm sitting in the garden room writing this. Thank you.
We had an orangery built
We had an orangery built, they started to time, they finished to time, the build quality was excellent and the builders, fitters, electricians, plumbers, plasterers etc couldn’t be faulted, nothing was too much trouble and we had to admire their tenacity in working in some very wet and cold weather.
Our Orangery was a kitchen extension and whilst we would give Taverham 5 stars our kitchen suppliers (Wickes) would get 0, and whilst we would recommend Taverham Conservatories to anyone thinking about building work we would urge you to avoid Wickes at all times.
We had a single storey extension built…
We had a single storey extension built with a large gable window and trifold door. Positives were the excellent build quality and work ethic of the various builders, fitters and plasterers. They were very courteous and tidy and mindful of the neighbours. The only snag was them ordering the roof before we had agreed on the dimensions, but that actually helped when we needed unexpected piling for foundations with an increased mutual understanding. Would recommend, just be clear with communication, the finished building is stunning!
Very dissapointed as poor ceiling plastering refused to be repairs
I am extremely disappointed with the service and aftercare provided by this conservatory company. Throughout of project workers seemed to be so much in rash, noone did come to manage them on site. Project manager only did come when we alarmed seeing faults in quality throughout and afterwards.
The plastering work on the ceiling was at its worst and has been very poor from the start. Hairline cracks appeared shortly after completion( in just 1 month after full completion) and, despite being “repaired” twice within 2 months after, they have now reappeared for the third time - in month 3. This clearly shows that the issue was never properly resolved, only temporarily covered up.
What is most frustrating is the company’s response, when cracks reappeared for 3rd time. Instead of taking responsibility and correcting the workmanship to a proper standard, I was simply advised to “paint it and see how it goes.” This is not an acceptable solution and does not address the underlying problem.
We have been quoted on extension to be done within 5-6 week, bad enough it has been only finished after 3 months but now - 7 months later, ceiling still cracking and whole extension still in poor unfinished state.
As a customer, I expected a professional finish and a company that stands behind its work.Unfortunately, this has not been the case. The lack of accountability and unwillingness to properly fix ongoing defects has been very disappointing. Company has its own workers and subcontractors, and noone was to manage the project on daily or weekly bases, noone come on site unless we alarmed when job was done poorly and this has happen a lot throughout project. This put strain on timescale promised by Taverham Conservatory and whole project extended by 3 times, despite 5-6 weeks promised on sign off.
I would not recommend using them based on my experience, the stress and dissatisfaction caused is enormous. Extension still in unfinished state now, 7 months later. Now after 7 months and paid full amount, i left with cracked ceiling in 4 areas and company refuses to repair. The only option i have is to start Small court case to claim compensation back or go to Trade customer Right Protection, to reinforce them to repair their faults. Plasterer they use is the worst worker of theirs - Connor Hodgson, on all occasions on site, he seems to used all shortcuts and was constantly in rash, trying to get away from repairing his own work afterwards, blaming painting, that lead to cracking ceiling, not poor work ship. How would painting lead ceiling to crack?.... If you use Taverham Conservatories - ensure Connor is not send to do your plastering, as you may end up having experience we did, which is extremely stressful and disappointing, bearing in mind, whole project costed lots of money, tens of thousands...it still unfinished and still causing ongoing headache and stress.
Excellent service
We needed a new back door to the house as the previous one was leaking. The service from this company has been excellent, from my first enquiry to the final fitting. Thank you to all the team who provided quotes, explained the various options, measured up and fitted the door - we are really pleased with the result!
Orangery replacement for old conservatory
Having inherited in a recent home move an old lean to conservatory we approached Taverham conservatories for ideas as to what to do. We followed their advice to replace the old conservatory with a new orangery with stylish lantern roof. The bricklayers, Taverhams own fitting team, plasterer and plumber have all provided excellent service as did the office team, keeping us informed throughout. Having paid our final invoice we did then notice a couple of issues which have been promptly dealt with. Would we recommend Taverham conservatories, a definite yes.
We had 9 windows and a bi-fold door…
We had 9 windows and a bi-fold door fitted over 3 days 12th to 14th November, The 2 window fitters James and Brad were professional and efficient, they never left any mess and took all the old windows away, I would definitely recommend them and will definitely be using them again
Replacement windows and bifold door
Excellent experience with this company who replaced our windows and a bifold door. The fitters were very professional as were all people we dealt with at the company. Also very competitive price wise. Hugh and Anita H Thorpe St Andrew
New Porch
New Porch
We had a new porch built and we're really pleased with the final result. All workmanship done to a great standard and all those involved were polite and helpful and ready to put themselves out if anything needed doing. For example, moving a fence post and cutting panel to size to accomodate the new porch size. Just keep the tea flowing.
I recently had the windows replaced
I recently had the windows replaced, and two engineers came over to carry out the work. They were professional, thorough, and did an excellent job. I'm really pleased with the quality of their work and how smoothly everything went."
From start to finish Taverham…
From start to finish Taverham Conservatories were polite, helpfull and efficient. I only needed replacements for old french doors, but they treated me no different to a whole house customer. Their representatives who measured up and the guy who installed the new doors were very customer focussed. The standard of the product is excellent and the installation was superb. I can thoroughly recommend Taverham Conservatories.
Would give 10 starts if possible
Would give 10 stars if possible, my partner and I went to purchase a pergola and we was noticed straight away by a staff member named Tyler, and his knowledge was impeccable, we've never been into a store and had someone know absolutely every answer to our questions, what a credit he is to Taverham nursery centre.

Taverham conservatories, brilliant
Taverham conservatories, well what can we say.
On purchase of our bungalow we understood that it wasn't what we envisaged for ourselves as a base for this point in our lives, or later when we have less mobility.
Well the location was good just off the high street and only 200 paces from a brilliant chip shop counter.
The first problem, a relic from the 1970's in the form of a lean-to conservatory with a polycarbonate roof. A heating nightmare.
After exploring several possible solutions, we settled on a Taverham Conservatories renovation, with more glass for views over the garden, patio doors and their new ultra 380 roof flowing into the existing bungalow roof. More a part of the building than an afterthought plonked on one weekend.
Plans were fully discussed and works carried out in a professional manner, by a friendly, polite and trustworthy team that took everything in their stride, using their knowledge and understanding to ensure our requirements were met.
We particularly appreciated the workers input during the build, using their experience where they thought our ideas could be improved on or more economically achieved. The biggest surprise was that any savings made were actually passed on to us or used to offset extras we asked for. By what one hears of the building industry, not being ripped off, even in a small way seems novel.
The workmen were all professional, experienced and hard working without exception. Above our expectation by a mile.
The outcome, is that we are overjoyed with our new garden room, which includes a cloakroom and a utility area. It actually seems bigger than the original, and with the thermal insulation incorporated, the heating nightmare is a thing of the past.
Would we recommend Taverham conservatories?
Enough to say they will be top of our list for any future works that we require.
Excellent service and craftsmanship
Taverham Conservatories have just finished work for us. I cannot rate them highly enough.
Their communication and scheduling of each phase was excellent.
Each section of the construction was carried out by a knowledgeable and skilful team who were conscientious, thorough, considerate and cheerful.
A definite plus was they regularly cleared up.
We are thrilled with our conservatory. It has made such a difference to our bungalow and to our wellbeing.
Really pleased
We have just had an orangery finished. We were told at the start that it was a quite straight forward job, and it was. Special mention to builders at the start who were fab.
Outstanding in all aspects
From start to finish the professional service was outstanding. We are absolutely delighted with our orangery and new windows and doors. We would recommend Taverham unreservedly.
Conservatory living roof
Just had my conservatory roof changed to a living roof installed by Taverham conservatories.Excellent installation by Lee and Allie. Both were very efficient, friendly and professional.A job well done .Plastering and electrical work all carried out to a high standard .This roof has made my conservatory a lovely place to spend time in Definitely worth the expense
Poorly organised, slow and disappointing admin
We wanted to use Taverham as they are a small local company. The design stage was fine although the original design had to be changed to be what we had discussed with the person who came around. This was agreed.
Unfortunalty they gave the wrong design to the fitters so when they came and fitted the roof it had the glass panels in the wrong place in the roof. The fitters were gutted but not surprised.
Initially the company said that we would have to reach a compromise as this was going to be too expensive for the company to fix - they were very patronising to my wife on the phone. It was only after we wrote a long letter including all of the things they had agreed to that they finally came a removed the roof and put the right one up.
This took a long time - the roof should have been completed by the end of April or May but wasn't finally finished until August.
The organisation was poor. The fitters who came. round had not been given the key we left with them. We had to come back from work twice as they turned up with out the key we had left for them.
The office and admin staff lack proper organisation - they didn't seem to know what was going on or when and they continually used the wrong names when they spoke to us!
We wrote a complaint over 6 weeks ago and have not had a response to this yet.
Quality of the workmanship on the job has so far been good and we are finally pleased with what is now there but the poor organisation and lack of care means it is only a 2 star review.
Avoid. Used to be so good. Not now
Had an excellent experience with these guys about 8 years ago so got them back for another build. BAD MOVE
What made them great before has long gone !
They provided minimal design options, we paid an initial deposit in Sept 2022. First ground wasn’t broken until 29th March 2023.
Work then stopped for nearly a month whilst waiting for a door to be ordered.
When work was completed in June it was obvious that the sky lantern was wrong, too big glass for the hole.
The solution was to taper the top edge out. The gas flue was put so close to the bedroom window we could not open it. Drain move to directly outside the door.
All the while workers didn’t turn up when planed,or were booked in wrongly eg, plasterers before electricians. And we had to project manage from start to finish. Constantly chasing the office updates and being treated as a nuisance, zero customer service/respect.
Cannot warn you off this lot enough.
Avoid
Such a shame because they used to be so good.
