Personalized, educational banking experience with an integrative approach
I recently visited the 5/3 bank on Army Trail Rd. in Bloomingdale to open a new checking account. While waiting briefly, I observed tellers greet a few customers by name which surprised me in these hectic times. I was quickly assisted by Angela, who went above and beyond in approaching our interaction with amiability & efficiency! Angela asked general questions that made the experience personalized & enjoyable, while leading me through the "boring, fine print" details of my account options in a manner that held my attention so I could actually retain the information & feel confident in my decisions. Angela also seemed to anticipate my needs as she detailed account features that would be helpful for my specific situation, while offering encouragement in areas where I felt anxious &/self-conscious. I just started college again at 42 & I'm getting back into working after an extended period of mental & physical health issues, so my visit to 5/3 was just one small part of my foray back into the "real world". The logistics of "starting over" in life can be intimidating, but the way Angela weaved encouragement into what's typically just a bunch of boring paper work boosted my confidence and left me feeling positive & capable. It really IS the small kindnesses and genuine positive communication that can make a person feel "seen", especially at pivotal points in our lives. I know it's just a checking/savings account, but I was treated with the same respect & importance a wealthy customer would receive. Overall, my experience with 5/3 was helpful, informative, and pleasant. Angela went above & beyond in her knowledge and communication. It's been awhile since I left a banking interaction with full peace and confidence, rather than confusion and irritation. As someone who's worked primarily in the service industry, I'm always impressed when someone "checks all the boxes" with an integrative approach. I have a serious complaint regarding the inconvenience i am experiencing with my bank online banking. i recently changed my phone but the number is the same. despite this,i am unable to access my account becuase the system does not recognize my new device. I contacted customer serv and even went t to the bank. both told me i have to wait 14 days for the system to update. this policy is unacceptable . it make no sense that a customer cannot check their transactions , view their balances, or monitor their account for such a long period of time. in todays world , immmediate access to financial information is essential. a 14 days waiting period puts customers at risk and creates unnecessary stress. This outdated policy needs to be changed because it is causing the bank to lose clients.

Wanted to open a bank account for checking and savings. The bank associate was very professional and helpful. Managed to get in and out in a timely manner. Got all questions answered and would definitely recommend anyone of my friends and family to open an account at fifth third bank.

Absolutely terrible!!!Their ATM ate my debit card and the company from it will not reimburse my replacement just because I’m not a customer. The fact that they will not take responsibility for their machines, only placed me to report the issue to authorities. I can afford to lose $20 but it’s the principal that this company will not take responsibility for people’s cards.
