I was very happy with this company in the past and wanted to use them again. But this year on renewal had been a terrible experience. The main contact Louise Eastman has not replied to messages and I had to call numerous times to just get a reply. as it was now 2 days before my renewal after chasing for over 2 weeks, I called another broker and they found me a better deal on insurance in less than 24 hours. Even when I queried 2 things about the policy it was sorted in 30 mins.
I am not sure what has happened to this company in the last year but it has lost my business now.

I have never used a comparison website for my car insurance but this time it was to be so expensive staying with my existing insurer as recommended by Academy that I went on Go-Compere and arranged like-for-like cover at £200 less than Academy quoted.
I have always used them for Cars, home and travel insurance and I could ring one advisor by name and he would have everything sorted out within an hour. Now every time I call and finally get through it is to someone I have never spoken to before and the personal service has gone completely. Now their service is very impersonal and both speed and my needs are ignored. I get the impression they are not doing a comparison to check I am getting the best deal, simply saying Oh we have compared and think your best deal is to stay with your existing insurer. Maybe or maybe not, but dealing with an independent insurance company instantly saves me the £75 agents fee. I get the impression that my many years loyalty has been ignored and I am now just another caller.

Appalling service, especially as I have been used to 5* service from GSI, who Academy have bought. No paperwork for over a week, when it was sent through the portal it had my old address on.

Called them to get it changed and was promised paperwork in the next half hour. Waited 2 days and called again. Paperwork was emailed to me immediately- this time with a second policy holder who has nothing to do with me. I lost patience and asked them to cancel and issue a full refund. They cancelled and issued a partial refund.

Emailed their complaints department who did respond within 6 hours agreeing that a full refund would be issued. The only good thing I can say about Academy is that the refund hit my bank account the following day.

I received an email with the renewal for my car insurance, I made a call to your office on the free line which was answered by Harvinder Kalsi who checked all my details and when I asked whether there were any cheaper quotes she immediately check your system and came up with a cheaper quote which I accepted. Harvinder's attitude was very friendly and we had a little banter going while she was carrying out her duties
