DISGRACEFUL TREATMENT OF A 93-YEAR-OLD END-OF-LIFE PATIENT

I am absolutely appalled by the treatment my 93-year-old dad, who is receiving end-of-life care, received from this company.

They took £695 from my dad and arranged a date for his stairlift to be fitted. At such a difficult time for our family, we believed everything had been organised and that Dad would soon have the stairlift he urgently needed.

They then arrived at his home and told us the stairlift could not be fitted.

The attitude of Keith, who attended, was absolutely disgraceful in my opinion. He was rude, dismissive and completely unprofessional. Astonishingly, during a visit concerning a vulnerable 93-year-old end-of-life patient, he made a point of saying that he doesn’t get paid for rentals.

What on earth did his personal payment arrangements have to do with my dying father needing a stairlift?

There appeared to be no compassion whatsoever for Dad’s circumstances or for a family already going through an incredibly distressing time.

And it didn’t end there.

After they had decided they couldn’t provide the stairlift, we then had to repeatedly complain and chase for Dad’s £695 to be returned. It took approximately ONE MONTH to get his money back.

That money belonged to a vulnerable 93-year-old man receiving end-of-life care. We should not have had to fight to get it returned.

Perhaps the most damning part of this whole experience is what happened next.

We contacted another Manchester stairlift company.

They came out, assessed Dad’s home and successfully fitted a stairlift within 48 HOURS.

So after this company took £695, arranged an installation, told us it couldn’t be fitted and then took around a month to refund Dad, another company managed to assess and fit a stairlift in just two days.

I think that comparison speaks for itself.

Families caring for someone at the end of their life have enough to cope with. We needed professionalism, compassion and urgency. Instead, our experience caused additional stress, frustration and upset at one of the most difficult times our family has ever faced.

My dad deserved to be treated with dignity and respect.

Based entirely on our family’s experience, I would never use this company again and could not recommend them to anyone looking for a stairlift for a vulnerable or elderly relative.

Steve Watson helped us through the entire process of our stairlift. Very professional and extremely polite and courteous. Would recommend him in an instance for anyone interested in the purchase of a product.

We have experienced similar issues to those with a 1 star rating - tragic for our dependants stuck in a chairlift with an unreliable product. Erratic and often poor afterservice, and a very unreliable product. We were verbally promised a new motor over a month ago which still has not arrived. The chair part was eventually replaced as a temporary fix with one arm broken but they now deny they would replace the motor. In future we will ask for written confirmation.
Still waiting for affordable company to reply to my email……

Stairlift installed today by Declan. Couldn’t have been more helpful. Made all adjustments until I was happy with it and stayed whilst I practised as I was quite nervous about using it.

Steve was Amazing. He was extremely personable and talked me through exactly what I needed. I was worried I wouldn't be able to get the stairlift I needed but Steve took the time to measure everything up and get me what I needed. Absolutely wonderful service

We had our straight stair lift fitted about 4 months its broken down twice . I had to carry my wife down from upstairs as the lift got stuck the first time. second time this week its not working either spoke to customer service and i was been told the a earliest the engineer can attend is on Wednesday day. I wish I paid more and got a decent one fitted. Absolute Rubbish I would not recommend any one to to buy this especially when you have disable person who totally rely on lift to get to upstairs . Sadly I have to get my wife to sleep down stairs for this reason. They take the money but does not provide the service they promise. Very Dissapointed

Chris Newson came to see us and explained everything to us. My 91 year old dad was in hospital and they wouldn't let him home until he had a stairlift fitted and Chris sorted it all out really quickly. We were quoted on the Monday and by Friday it was fitted. Excellent service. Will certainly recommend.
