En el Hotel Costa Vasca de San Sebastián he pasado 5 días con una experiencia nefasta desde el primer día. En primer lugar me dan la habitación en recepción y me encuentro que está sin hacer y con una bandeja de desayuno sobre la cama, a todo esto las 16,30h de la tarde ..,,, de asco…
Me cambian de habitación a una mucho peor con una sola cama y cuando pongo la ropa en una estantería del armario la balda se va al suelo…
La atención de cafetería de muy poca profesionalidad, mesas sucias, me avisan a un taxi y no llega. Hay que volver a pedir… como para una urgencia!!!
En fin desastrosa estancia en este hotel, nunca más volveré y evitaré recomendarlo. Será por hoteles en San Sebastián. Decepcionante estancia….

Barcelo - Costa Teguise
We were only here for one night (thank goodness). We like to end our holiday with a couple of hotel stays.
Firstly there were a couple of positives, the restaurant was lovely and the overall view was great too(but the balcony too small and shaded to enjoy this positive). The light on the sink mirror (cant call it a bathroom) had good lighting.
The negatives:
We have stayed with Barcelo (as recent as a couple of nights earlier at Playa Blanca) before and expected similar quality and rooms, especially for the price we paid (£210 for one night), I am sorry, but it does not compare.
Parking was difficult and we had to park by the Grand Hotel (where we have stayed before and was cheaper and far better)
First thoughts - the room was very small - when we checked the map of the fire evacuations we realised just how much smaller our room was than the others! Room 2014. We had reserved a deluxe room - the room was not like the images on the website and I wouldnt class as deluxe!
It also had an odd smell which I though may be chlorine for the hot tub - I now think it might be refrigerant from the air conditioning.
Bathroom facilities:
The toilet cubicle only just fitted the toilet in. It was a bit of a tight squeeze shutting the door - ie not a lot of room between the toilet and the door to turn around in to shut the door. (Im just an average size!)
The shower looked warn with green on the shower head, damaged panel and leaked, badly! There was a slight gap between the plastic seal on the door and the front panel. During my shower (just before we were due to check out), unbeknown to me the water was leaking out of this gap and allover the bedroom floor.
My husband did slip on the floor, he wasnt injured, but it was painful and he did get a bruise on his back and elbow.
I did try and mop it up, with the towels, but there was too much to completely dry. I left a chair in front and a note to make housekeeping aware as I didnt want them to slip as well. I also mentioned this to a lady in uniform outside and reception to avoid any further accidents.
The shower is frosted, but you can still see through - not an issue for us, but might be for friends who arent in a relationship
There was no bathroom, just a sink between the entrance and the bed, this was tiny, with a minimal amount of space for any toiletries.
The Balcony - this was tiny - simply room for a table and two chairs. Also due to its location it was shaded by other neighbouring buildings and the rooms next door - all the other rooms we could see had far larger balconies (which as larger were shading ours). On arrival, it was in the shade, at 8am the following morning, all but your head was in the shade. We didnt sit outside on the balcony as shaded, even though it was a particularly sunny day.
The hot tub - was on a different balcony (just room for the hot tub and a washing line - my husband likened it to a utility area) which overlooked another hotel and rusty air-conditioning units. There was also a view of the sea, but the air conditioning view spoilt it. We did use the Hot tub but it isnt private - especially when getting in or out. Everyone passing on the street below can see you. Also when you press of the jet - lots of black bits came out. The image of the room has an internal hot tub and overall a much larger space.
The air conditioning - started with a hum, a little louder than usual, but then it turned into a clanging and banging. I could smell the weird smell again, which reminded me of de-icer. (On discussing this with friends on our return, I know think that the air conditioning maybe damaged and the smell may be refrigerant, which can be a health hazard). I asked my husband to turn it off and suggested we ask if we can see if there was another room available. However, it was 11pm and he said not worth the upheaval of packing everything and waiting for a new room as could be well into the next morning before we were moved and that would only be if there was availability. It was very hot without the air conditioning and we could still hear it in other rooms (but obviously not as loud). We had a poor night with lack of sleep.
I had read reviews and stayed at other Barcelos, so perhaps my expectations were high, I cannot state how disappointed we were, I just wanted to pack up and go home - breakfast in the morning cheered me up a little - but we were glad to leave - it was our last night of our 8 night break so not the best to end on.
The hotel werent helpful and simply said we should have told them at the time, even when I replied and explained why we didnt, they simply didnt respond.
Due to the disappointment we both felt, whilst we will definitely return to Barcelo Playa Blanca, but, we have decided that we wont be returning to Costa Teguise.
Decepción total — No es un hotel 5 estrellas
Nos alojamos en Bávaro Palace Punta Cana (Premium Level) y fue una experiencia pésima, muy lejos de lo que prometen.
Los aires acondicionados no funcionan en los restaurantes. Hacía un calor insoportable y nadie ofreció solución. Nos quisieron mandar al buffet, que estaba lleno de moscas, con comida recalentada y mozos con mala cara. Un lugar sin higiene ni atención.
Durante toda la estadía se cortaba la luz constantemente, se apagaban los aires, la música y las luces. A ratos parecía el castillo del terror. Nada que ver con un hotel cinco estrellas.
El bar de la pileta cierra a las 18 hs, la pileta principal estaba cerrada por mantenimiento, y también los juegos para chicos. El Kids Club fue una tristeza: todo apagado, sin música, sin vida, apenas dos peloteros vacíos, dos chicas con cara de fastidio y dos nenes mirando televisión. Un embole total.
Había cucarachas por todos lados. En el restaurante mexicano me encontré un pedazo de bolsa plástica dentro de una fajita de carne, claramente de comida recalentada. Casi vomito. Un asco.
Además, el hotel tiene olor a cloaca en muchos sectores.
El teatro y los shows son de muy baja calidad: aburridos, sin vida. La mayoría de los días ponen karaoke, o sea, ni siquiera contratan artistas. Lo peor es que promocionan el hotel mostrando fotos del teatro con personajes como Mickey y shows infantiles, y eso jamás sucede. Es pura publicidad engañosa.
El spa no funciona completo, también sufre los cortes de luz, al igual que los ascensores y los restaurantes, donde te morís de calor.
La playa está llena de reposeras rotas, muchas viejas y hundidas. No hay ningún sector premium ni diferencia para quienes pagamos más.
Encima, cortan el pasto a la hora de la siesta, haciendo imposible descansar o que mi bebé durmiera. Y si vas con un bebé menor de dos años, no hay comida saludable ni de buena calidad para ellos.
Por la tarde no hay lugar donde merendar, tomar un café o comer algo dulce. Solo el Sport Bar, que ofrece chorizos, salchichas, hamburguesas y gaseosas, nada más.
Cuando fuimos al lobby Premium a reclamar, la primera mujer se rió en nuestra cara. Al día siguiente hablamos con Gertrudis, quien “solucionó” el problema poniéndonos un mayordomo a disposición que no hizo absolutamente nada, salvo mandar un plato de frutas a la habitación.
Pagamos por una experiencia Premium y fue una estafa total.
No recomiendo este hotel bajo ningún punto de vista.
Nos arruinaron las vacaciones.

The tour bus left without us, the supervisor walked away, and the tour agent came 40 minutes late.

Bedbugs and terrible customer service (Occidental Punta Cana)

We chose this hotel based on the many positive reviews. I understand that bedbugs can be found anywhere in the world and sometimes appear during travel, which is exactly why I prefer to stay in well-rated hotels. I’m usually very careful and check every room on arrival, but in this case I trusted that a five-star hotel would be clean (yes, I know… I should have checked anyway).
One evening I noticed a bug in the bed running extremely fast. I took a closer look and realized it was a bedbug (first photo). After that, I inspected the mattress and found many bedbugs of different sizes, which means they had been in the room for a long time and were breeding freely. We immediately went to the reception and informed them about the problem. A housekeeper came to the room, removed the bedbugs from the mattress and sprayed something on them (probably insecticide?).
After that we returned to the reception and said we needed a new room because of the bedbugs. We were told to wait while someone checked the room again. Then they came back and actually claimed that there were no bedbugs in our room. Luckily, I had taken photos. Only after showing the photos did they finally give us another room.
The customer service at this hotel was the worst I have ever experienced. This was the first and last time I will ever stay in this hotel.
The beach was beautiful and the food was okay (definitely not five star level), but unfortunately this experience and the way the staff handled it completely ruined our vacation. For the first time ever on a vacation, I actually found myself counting the days until I could go home. Save your money and stay somewhere else.

Stayed at Barcelo corelljo bay hotel again, approx 15th time, because we love it, staff, old and new, rooms restaurant and bars are comfortable and welcoming. Always friendly helpful and polite, new management seems to want to listen to clients and act immediately to requests and concerns, WILL BE SEEING them again very soon.

Por muchos años me he hospedado en Barceló San Salvador. Me agrada la cultura de servicio y ubicación! Sin embargo, el hotel sumamente deteriorado al punto de lucir sucio. Siento que las recamaras y areas de lobby deben ser remodeladas! En el 2028 viene un JW Marriot que será la competencia directa y es el momento de pensar en renovar.
Pest and Poor Customer Service
We stayed at Barceló Lanzarote Active Resort, and unfortunately our experience was extremely disappointing due to repeated pest issues and the hotel’s poor handling of the situation.
During our stay, we found six ants in our bedroom. The cleaner sprayed insect spray, but the problem didn’t stop there. Two nights later, a cockroach came out from the skirting board and ran back inside. We reported it immediately to reception, but their reaction wasn’t serious enough for such a hygiene issue.
We asked for a room change, and although they offered another room, it wasn’t in as nice a location, so we decided to stay and asked them to seal around the skirting boards instead — which turned out to be a mistake. Two nights later, another (or possibly the same) cockroach appeared on our bedside table while we were sleeping. A cleaner came to kill it and spray the room again, but there was no proper follow-up afterwards. We had to leave the room for several hours because of the fumes.
To make matters worse, just before we checked out, a third cockroach appeared on one of our towels. At that point, we were simply exhausted and disappointed.
We booked through Loveholidays, and after reporting everything to them, two customer service representatives said they believed the hotel’s version over ours. They told us that refunds are at the hotel’s discretion and only offered £50 back from a £1,500 all-inclusive trip — which feels completely unfair considering the repeated pest problems, sleepless nights, and disruption we endured.
For a resort of this supposed standard, the response from both the hotel and Loveholidays was unacceptable. Between the pests, repeated use of insect sprays, and lack of accountability, this was far from a relaxing or hygienic stay.
We won’t be returning and wouldn’t recommend this hotel — or booking through Loveholidays — after this experience.
We have stayed at the Barcello in…October 2025
We have stayed at the Barcello in Puerto Vallarta for about 15 years.We came every winter for about 2 weeks and stayed in one of the Premium Suites. We now live full time in P.V but still like to bring visiting guests out for a couple of days whenever we can.The Barcello has become "Our Spot" as the rooms and people have always been exceptional. We just stayed for 2 nights this past Tuesday and Weds. Unfortunately we found several things that were not up to our expectations we had come to expect. We used to receive complimentary Champagne (Something we had told the people we brought)they would be served a glass upon arrival.This didnt happen. We started towards the VIP room to check in but were told it wasn't open (This was 3:00 PM) after we questioned this issue we were told by someone else it actually was open?
When we tried to make a reservation at one of the restaraunts we were told " Sorry-everything is full" We ran into the restaraunt general manager later on and my wife told him "when you are paying extra for VIP service this should not be the case and luckily once again he corrected the issue and got us in. None of the fountains were working at the hotel and nobody seemed to know what was going on? Overall it just seemed like things weren't up to the Barcello standards we had been accustomed to. We talked with some of the older employees about our concerns they told us there was a new general manager and he had made "a lot of changes" none of which made them or us happy. Hopefully these things improve.......
Terrible experience. Not customer friendly at all!
Booked 4 nights on booking.com at the Royal Hideaway Corales Suites and on arrival at the hotel agreed to an upgrade and an extra night at a special price. They demanded a prepayment, and I obliged. However, having agreed and pre-paid for the upgrade and extra night, the management wanted to charge me a second time for the extra night! The management were not interested in honouring what was agreed. In short, they lied and had no interest in listening to what I had to say even when I told them that what they charged me so far was a lot more than what I would have paid through booking.com! My partner and I ended up having to cut short our trip and incurred additional costs in returning home early. Added to that, during this and my previous stay at this hotel personal items also vanished from the room. Horrible experience. Just about to complain to the hotel owners. Let’s see how they handle my complaint.

Fantastic Stay at Barceló Fuerteventura Mar
We had a wonderful stay at Barceló Fuerteventura Mar. Everything was as expected, and in many ways, the hotel exceeded our expectations.
The food was excellent — there was always a plentiful selection at every meal, with a wide variety of dishes to choose from. Whether you're looking for local Canarian flavours or international cuisine, there's something for everyone. The quality and freshness were consistent throughout our stay.
The staff truly made the experience even better. They were extremely friendly, professional, and always willing to help with anything we needed. From the reception to the restaurant and housekeeping teams, everyone contributed to a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Our room was spotless — cleaned thoroughly every day and maintained to a very high standard. It was also spacious, comfortable, and well-equipped, with everything we needed for a relaxing stay.
The hotel’s location is ideal, right by the beach and within walking distance to local shops and attractions. The grounds are beautifully maintained, and the pool areas are perfect for both relaxation and fun.
Overall, we had a fantastic time and wouldn’t hesitate to return. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a relaxing, well-run hotel in a beautiful setting.
First class hotel and service.
We recently stayed at the Adults only Barcelo in Fuerteventura, the management staff were extremely friendly and helpful in arranging any requirements we made, it was my birthday over this period and a bottle of bubbly was sent to our room, in addition a birthday cake was arranged at our table on the big day (Evelyn was responsible for this kind jesture)
All the restaurant staff and bar staff were particularly friendly and accomodating in meeting all our requests.
Halyna of the management team was particularly helpful and pleasant to deal with.
We could not fault our holiday and will be returning next year to renew acquaintances.

SUSTRACCIÓN EN HOTEL
Buenos días
Me he alojado muchas veces en hoteles de la cadena Barceló, y nunca había tenido problemas. Al contrario.
Pero esta vez ha sido todo lo contrario.
Nos invitaron a un evento con alojamiento en Barceló Costa Ballena.
Nuestra sorpresa, unos pendientes de oro y brillantes de mi mujer, se perdieron.
Lo comunicamos a recepción. Nada más decírselo, se metió a un despacho donde no podíamos oir la conversación que mantenía por teléfono.
Después nos dijo que se lo iba a comunicar a la encargada.
Ya el día que nos íbamos, nos dijeron que habían comprobado el pase de tarjetas y que no había nada extraño, y que además que las cajas fuertes no se pueden abrir.
De lo que no se habían dado cuenta es que nuestra puerta balconera en la planta baja estaba rota y no cerraba (cosa que nos dimos cuenta el último día cuando removimos toda la habitación).
Las cámaras no se pueden revisar hasta que no pongamos denuncia (cosa que haremos), pero que es muy difícil que alguien acceda.
Lo único que les puedo decir, que mi mujer bajó con los pendientes puestos y subió a casa sin ellos.
Por motivos de ingreso hospitalario
Por motivos de ingreso hospitalario, tuvimos que anular la reserva un día antes del comienzo de la estancia y tras comunicarlo y presentar los informes de ingreso en el hospital, la dirección tuvo a bien no cobrarnos nada, a pesar que el periodo gratuito de anulación ya había acabado hacia 5 días.
Mi esposa tiene discapacidad , va en silla de ruedas y necesitamos habitación adaptada, el hotel Barceló Punta Umbría Mar nos proporciona todas las facilidades y el personal se vuelca con mi esposa . Así que , tanto por una cosa como por la otra, estaré siempre agradecido.
