Uma experiência que arruinou as nossas férias – alerta a futuros hóspedes

Durante a nossa estadia no Barceló Sevilla Renacimiento entre 1 e 3 de setembro de 2025, fomos confrontados com uma série de problemas que arruinaram as nossas férias e desrespeitaram as expectativas que um hotel cinco estrelas deve garantir.
Desde a chegada, houve falta de assistência com as malas, tendo de transportar pessoalmente todo o nosso volume de bagagem desde o parque de estacionamento até à receção, sem qualquer apoio. O check-in foi feito de forma apressada, sem qualquer orientação ou ajuda. A mesma falta de cuidado repetiu-se no check-out.
O quarto apresentava várias falhas de manutenção inaceitáveis para um hotel da categoria, como fios expostos na televisão, problemas no banheiro, secador de cabelo avariado e uma insonorização praticamente inexistente, que não permitia descanso devido ao ruído constante da família do piso superior e da área da piscina para adultos, onde houve eventos com som alto durante o dia.
Além disso, as opções de restauração estavam muito limitadas, com um dos restaurantes principais fechado sem qualquer aviso, e o bar interior do hotel permaneceu fechado durante toda a nossa estadia, prejudicando gravemente a experiência gastronómica. As lojas do hotel também estavam fechadas, apesar dos horários anunciados.
Tentámos relatar estes problemas à equipa de Guest Experience, mas fomos confrontados com uma atitude desinteressada e a minimização das nossas queixas. A compensação oferecida foi um desconto de 20% numa futura estadia, o que consideramos insuficiente face ao impacto negativo da experiência.
Este hotel, que deveria ser sinónimo de conforto, qualidade e atenção ao cliente, revelou-se desorganizado, negligente e longe do padrão de um cinco estrelas. Não recomendamos o Barceló Sevilla Renacimiento a quem procura uma estadia tranquila, bem cuidada e profissional.

Theft

I left an electric toothbrush (value ca. 100 Euro) at a the Occidental Dresden Newa Hotel. I called the front desk and they were lovely, had found the item and promised to send it to me. I paid them 15 Euro via Credit card for that. Several weeks have passed since and nothing happened. I wrote multiple follow up Emails without hearing back. This is not legal and I will have to take matters to the police.

Health & Safety hazard

I was getting out of the pool and the step ladder came loose and fell on top of me, pushing me under the water. When I saw it was corroded. I complained to the manager, asking him if they had a maintenance man, but he didn’t respond.

So I sent a complaint letter to both the hotel I stayed in, and head office. After a month I received an email that asked for photos as proof. When I tried to send them, I was blocked! Then last week (I went away in May), they received the email, but I’ve heard nothing back.

Safety Hazard @ Barcelo Cappadocia

Cappadocia. We booked this hotel and paid a premium price to have a good experience but our stay has been riddled with issues.

1- After we checked in and went to our suite, we found that it was not properly cleaned after the previous stay. There were hair and crumbs on multiple locations on the floor. We had to call housekeeping and had them clean the floors again.
2- Upon check-in, the living area TV was not working and we had to call the front desk to have this fixed
3- On day 2 of our stay after we came back from the site-seeing, around 4:30 PM, none of the ACs in the suite were working. They would turn on then turn off within 5 seconds. While we were figuring out whether to call front desk or keep trying, we heard a loud noise from upstairs which takes us to next issue
4- We went upstairs to investigate the loud noise since all of us were downstairs. We find that the bathroom mirror had fallen and shattered. There was broken glass everywhere. Even through the bathroom door was closed, small glass pieces had reached the bedroom floor. This is a safety hazard, had one of us been in the bathroom we would’ve been hospitalized.

We called the manager who offered us a different room in the same category but which is smaller than our original room. He just shrugged his shoulders and said that’s the best he could do.

We are paying a premium price for a premium stay and handling all these issues is not part of our vacation plan. What if one of our kids was in the bathroom when the mirror fell? We will be worried about such incidence for the rest of our stay at this facility. The hotel manager has refused to compensate us in any way. They emailed us back, stating it is not within their policy to refund.

Estuve alojado en la habitación 212 del…

Estuve alojado en la habitación 212 del Hotel Barceló Conil Playa desde el 15 de junio de 2025 y, por desgracia, mi experiencia no fue la esperada para un hotel de esta categoría.

Desde el primer día, la habitación presentaba un olor muy desagradable a cañería o aguas estancadas, especialmente por la noche, haciendo prácticamente imposible descansar con normalidad. Lo comuniqué varias veces al personal del hotel, tanto en persona como por correo electrónico, y aunque recibí disculpas y buenas palabras, la solución real nunca llegó. La única medida fue usar productos ambientadores que disimulaban el hedor unos minutos.

Tras reiterar la queja, me ofrecieron como compensación el acceso a la piscina infinity y el desayuno premium el último día, además de un 10% de descuento en los extras, lo cual considero claramente insuficiente para las molestias sufridas durante toda la estancia. A pesar de volver a contactar con la dirección del hotel y con el grupo Barceló, nadie me ofreció un cambio de habitación ni una compensación proporcional al problema.

Una camarera de pisos me confirmó que el olor no era un caso aislado, lo que indica que se trata de un problema estructural. A día de hoy, no he recibido respuesta alguna por parte de la central de Barceló, a pesar de haberles escrito directamente y obtener un número de seguimiento.

Una verdadera lástima, porque el entorno y las instalaciones pueden ser agradables, pero la gestión del problema ha sido decepcionante. No volvería ni lo recomendaría, salvo que se garantice que este tipo de incidencias se resuelven con la seriedad que corresponde.

"From my very first night at your…


"From my very first night at your Bahrain branch, despite the hotel being a new property, I encountered significant defects within my room. These issues included noticeable stains on the carpet, bloodstains and hair on the bed, a leaking toilet, and a faulty door that would not close properly.
Upon reporting these concerns, I was moved to a different room. However, the air conditioning in the new room is not functioning. It is now 2:00 AM, and I am unable to sleep while awaiting a resolution or another room change. This has been the worst and will be my final experience with your brand. A globally renowned name has, for me, been severely tarnished across all its locations due to this utterly failed experience. If a new building presents such grave issues, one can only imagine the service quality in older establishments. Even the in-room telephone is not working, forcing me to go down to the reception to address these problems."

Worst experience at Barcelo Puerto Vallarta-Presidential Suite

To anyone considering Barcelo Puerto Vallarta, especially the Presidential Suite or Premium Level, please do your research and read the negative reviews carefully. The issues we faced are not isolated. What’s worse is that the management knows this and does absolutely nothing. I know nothing will be done about this and the resort knows it too. But the least I can do is warn others, so they don’t go through what we did.

This was supposed to be a luxury vacation instead, it turned into a stressful, disheartening experience filled with unresolved issues, terrible food, and a management team that clearly doesn’t care.

We stayed here from June 3–7, 2025, in the Presidential Suite, paying nearly $800 USD per night, and this was by far the most upsetting and disappointing vacation we’ve ever had.

Let’s start with the only positive: the bellboys and restaurant servers were kind and hardworking. That’s where the positives end.

The suite is advertised as over 3,700 sq. ft., but it felt more like 1,700. It seems they inflated the size by including a massive balcony with a strange, pointless fountain.

On day one, we discovered the shower drains were clogged with hair, every day for 3 days. We had to call repeatedly before anything was done. No manager ever followed up. No apology, no compensation.

Room service took over two hours, if it came at all. The living room furniture looked like old patio furniture and was terribly uncomfortable.

And then, the worst: $700 USD was stolen from our in-room safe.

We reported it immediately to the Premium Lounge, expecting concern instead, we got hostility and suspicion. The manager interrupted us, implied we were lying, and referenced another guest who supposedly “found their money in their shoes.” This wasn't just offensive it confirmed that theft has happened before, and still nothing is done. Eventually, a security staff member named Fernando took our statement — he was the only person who treated us respectfully. But after that? He vanished. We never heard from him again. We followed up multiple times, only to be told he was unavailable or busy. Still, no updates, no written report, no apology.

When I brought up other guests’ reviews reporting similar thefts, to another manager, he brushed them off and said, “Guests lie and try to get something out of Barcelo.” I was shocked. What could someone paying $800 per night possibly gain from lying?

They claimed the case would be sent to head office in Spain which makes no sense and when we asked for proof of the safe access log, they said only our code was used, but refused to show us proof.

This wasn’t just a theft it was a complete breakdown of trust and accountability, handled with zero professionalism. It honestly felt like the managers had handled this many times before and simply waited out our stay, knowing once we left, we’d be powerless.

As for the rest of the resort:

No authentic Mexican food — everything tasted like it came from the same bland kitchen.

No beach or poolside service.

Diluted drinks.

Tiny beach.

No “private zones” or “elevated Premium amenities” — it’s all marketing fluff.

If this is what the Presidential Suite experience is like, I can only imagine how they treat guests in standard rooms.

We left feeling scammed, disrespected, and deeply disappointed. Avoid this resort at all costs.

Barcelo Royal Beach Bulgaria

Arrived late at night on 29th May and were impressed when we went in. The smell of fresh coffee was amazing.
Positives ...
Packed lunch given when we arrived
Rooms and bathroom were huge, walk in shower and a bath
The most comfortable beds we have had on holiday. Had a great sleep every night
Staff very efficient and friendly
Food was delicious and plenty choice although breakfast was my favourite
Guest relations manager Todor was amazing and always on hand if needed.
Pool areas were immaculate and plenty sunbeds no matter when you went down
Location was great for us. Plenty shops and bars round about.
Negatives
Bar closes at 11pm
Would be handy to have some kind of support when coming out of shower but that's a personal preference
Would be nice to have a small table to put drinks on when on sunbeds
Rooms need a little bit of tlc
Would we come here again ? Definitely

my stay at the Barceló Puerto Vallarta was a complete disaster. The horrible customer service, terrible food, and dirty rooms made for a truly awful vacation. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. It was a waste of money and time.

Siamo un gruppo di 6 coppie di amici che hanno deciso di fare una vacanza in Srilanka
La presente per portare a vs conoscenza alcuni problemi incontrati nel Vs hotel Occidental EDEN di Beruwala.Le ns camere erano le DELUXE GARDEN WIEW. Abbiamo avuto tutti problemi di pulizia stanze, lenzuola sporche, federe ingiallite e maleodoranti, i bagni maleodoranti nonostante la ventola sempre in funzione. La cassaforte non presente in alcune stanze (la 35 per ex.) Fatte le dovute rimostranze sono state sostituite, ed alcuni hanno ottenuto la cassaforte, non tutti!
Il cibo offerto non è all'altezza ed inoltre essendo un gruppo ci sarebbe piaciuto pasteggiare tutti insieme ma purtroppo ci è stato riferito che non era possibile.

Just returned from a few days at the…

Just returned from a few days at the Barcelo hotel in Costa Teguise,
Room lovely however over looking the service road into the hotel, we were woken up every morning by deliveries and colleagues shouting on their way into the hotel don’t stay in room 8211
The food was varied but cold even when they brought out fresh
Entertainment was good in the evening most of the time
Bar was being packed up on the Playa side as soon as the entertainment was finished and you felt you were an inconvenience asking for a drink after 10.45 even though there was at least 3 staff on who keep disappearing behind the bar, however the drinks were quiet good when you got them
Sorry will not be revisiting

Horrific incident caused by the fact they use captive dolphins for entertainment.
Educate yourselves on how dolphins are captured to live in these resorts. (The aren’t rescues!) poor excuse for a hotel chain to be in that industry. Never mind what happened at the maya beach hotel in Jan. the video proof is available online. Giving this hotel chain Money and staying with them is advocating for this treatment of animals. Don’t do it !
