Benenden is an excellent service

Benenden is an excellent service and I highly recommend it. My own GP has a 6 week wait list for routine telephone appointments, but with the Benenden app I can book a convenient appointment and speak to a doctor straight away. I subscribe my family to Benenden and recommend it to my my friends, several of whom have been impressed with the help they’ve had with more serious complaints which had long NHS wait lists. Well worth being a member.

Ease of access and quick referrals

Ease of access. Quick referrals. Able to use local clinicians. Speedy results. Referred back to the NHS for subsequent treatment.

It's gone downhill since BUPA took over…

It's gone downhill since BUPA took over admin. A longer wait. Harder to speak to someone. They used to give you an appointment within 3 weeks now that's not the case. Taken off some procedures like varicose veins. Nothing like it used to be years ago and some consultants only seem to be there once a fortnight so that obviously makes a longer waiting time!! Had dealings with BUPA previously and know friends who have it and both Not pleased with Bupa, so surprised Beneden employ them in any shape or form!

Hi Debbie, thank you for sharing this feedback with us, we're sorry you haven't had a good experience so far. Just to clarify though, Bupa hasn't taken over our administration. Instead, we use the Bupa network of Hospitals to refer members to for their procedures and surgeries. We simply partner to make access to treatment easier and closer for our members.
Also, we aim to support members when they are facing a lengthy NHS delay over three weeks for diagnostics or five weeks for treatment. If the NHS can see you earlier, we always recommend staying in the NHS pathway.

Great and speedy service from Beneden…

Great and speedy service from Beneden Health Care. Got me to the hospital of my choice at a convenient place and time. I saw a first rate consultant who explained my condition and described the treatment I might require should my condition develop further.

Very professional & friendly staff

Very professional & friendly staff. My consultant was extremely pleasant & explained everything to me. The hospital is in a pleasant area, very clean & comfortable. I was able to book an appointment, very quickly & convenient time. I will & have recommended Benenden Hospital to many people.

my disappointments

my experience was fine except it was not good regarding estimated costs ,they go up then down only to go up again at no point did they make any sense .
I phoned the doctors secretary eight times, left four messages but received no call back .

Benenden approved Op after long NHS wait

After 2 in hospital stays via Ambulance and cancelled Operations and back on long waiting list contacted Benenden who approved Operation at Nuffield Haywards Heath. There was a fair bit of paperwork needed and a short wait but in the end all was approved. Once approved the rest went smoothly and the Op went well. Recommend using the Benenden App.

Great organisation

I've been a member for about six years.
Used a lot of the services over the years. 24/7 GP was really useful and prescribed medication quickly.
Cash plan is great to cover regular costs - mostly used optical and dental. Payment of claims is really quick.
Just used discount for travel insurance.
Really recommend

The call handlers are always very…

The call handlers are always very polite and helpful but then of course assumption is that everyone is technology savvy which presents problems when sending referral letters in certain formats only. Distances to travel are greater than they used to be for Benenden partners and not helpful when older.

Consultation only covered - had to pay for surgery myself!

Considerate, professional and very smooth path to treatment through BUPA. Successful consultation and surgery of the highest standard - but… not happy about the minor procedure I needed not being covered. My first ever claim to Benenden for help after paying in each month for almost 20 years and I had to pay £1,070 for the surgery. You approved a payment of up to £2,500 but I could only use it for the consultation. As the consultation and surgery came to less than this capped amount I feel I shouldn’t have had to pay for the surgery.
Updated after reply from Benenden… Your reply that you are updating the list of surgeries covered is absolutely of no use to me - I’m still over a grand out of pocket after paying in for nearly 20 years! I reiterate, I should have been able to use the full amount approved for my treatment. I understand the cap but don’t agree with the limitation that it can only be used for consultations. Disappointed!
