Umbrella exellent service
I found Umbella to be very professional, polite, and excellent at their job. I couldn't have asked for better plumber. Customer communication was great, they stayed in touch through the whole process. My fix to my boiler lead to a whole replacement of my boiler. It only took 24 hours from inspecting the old boiler, to replacing with new one. Most excellent service.

Can not even access Book a builder portal. Unable to login in at all to view the designated builders - who got my details , but I can not login. No telephone number for Bookabuilder to resolve this. Every time login - unsuccessful, tried to many times, try again later . Won’t let me change password , etc .

I heard about Air Tasker for finding people to do jobs. Very easy to create a login and posted for a small plumbing job.
It was a Sunday. I was notified same day and phoned on Monday by a local plumber who came round that day. He identified the issue, ordered the part and is coming back to fit once the part arrives. Really helpful and professional.

Book a builder took my £2500 in one go promising they will send me leads I get big contracts of kitchen and small contracts as well , I asked them why you want £2500 in one go if you are contracting for one year their manager and team it’s our policy to take money £2500 in one go first due to fraud issue my bank tab block my card to transfer money to book a builder and tsb bank called me as well then book a builder manager ask me to transfer bank to bank as soon as I transfer from next in June 2025 they stop taking phone 📞 they send me fake leads the leads which their works has already been done , when I complain they don’t have complaint departments they don’t have Google page you can cross check so they scammed me and till this year 2026 they didn’t answer my complaint I request NCA to take action against them they scammed people

Absolutely shocking customer service and…
Absolutely shoving customer service and the company management are jokers all refused to refund back my money within 3 days of really poor service.been with this company after and the manager promised this platform was the best thing since sliced bread.4 weeks in and not 1 single job don't be fooled In to this company I'm taken them to trading standards for misleading and lies about the platform.
I've requested the account to be closed and the money to be refunded but O is so good with his lies he keeps blaming other platforms and saying it's because I don't have reviews and photos that why people are not calling my self .
I've joined check a trade where I'm so busy and my job quote 100 times better than this horrible company I would strongly warn anyone to stay away and be conned like my self.

Rip off roofers
Hi. I got the details of a roofer through this platform but he was also on as a Google business. Sam and Dean Lee are listed on the platform as roofers. I went with 'sam' as he said he would give a 25 year guarantee for a new membrane and battens with all the things you need to do with effectively changing the roof. The roofer turned up with a gang of foreign workers, some of whom did not speak English. They did all the work in a day and left leaving debris in the front garden. The leak returned after a year and I had no way of contacting the roofer as his phone line disconnected and email no response. I have to basically start again with most of the work. A surveyor said most of the work hadn't been done and what little had, was very poor. Please do not book Sam or Dean Lee from 'Welford on Avon'. There is no business there. They are ot qualified roofers and you will never see them again. This platform does not investigate the qualifications or even if a business is kosher here. Stay clear at all costs. This happened in November 2024.
I did email bookabuilder through their complaints team but never heard anything back. I have heard nothing from bookabuilder even after their response here...this platform makes it easy for people with no reputable business to do things to people's houses that should be left well alone. People are not made accountable for their actions either. I made a complaint to bookabuilder months ago and they really weren't bothered about this rip-off.

Hassled over a couple of weeks
I was contacted by a few builders and got a few quotes. Sadly I was hassled by one or two people, even after explaining that I had quotes and would get back to them if I needed any more quotes.
Quite uncomfortable for me and unprofessional by them. If they are so desperate to provide me with a quote, they must be very short of work (unusual these days), which made me suspicious of their competence.

Thought we would use as a trade for free listing.... and see - next day emails and phones calls you have signed up for pro - erm no we haven't! to cancel I had to log into our account - when I tried to log in - email not recognised - can only conclude a complete sham! Go with my builder much better at least you get work from them.
