This has been the worst experience of my life.I have been waiting for over 6 months to get a status on my claim and I cannot get a answer from anyone. Everytime I call I have to wait for over 1-2 hours before I can speak to someone and when I do they cannot provide me with an answer. I have asked to speak to a manager or at least someone in charge and they will not make me speak to anyone else. The person on the other side of the line has been verbally abuse to me. I explain to them that I have been waiting 6 months to get my money and they are never sympathetic and frankly no one seems to care.
I just don't understand why we need to go through this service when my insurance was purchased through my credit card!

Worst customer experience ever in my life they treat us like a garbage. I will never use their service again. We feel guilty at the start the way they ask questions. They asking so many papers and trying to reach them is like reaching first minister. I submitted all paper work asked and it's look not enough for them... They asking other again. I sent all papers asking and I will wait probably several months again. I will cancel my mastercard BNC card for sure. Be aware by Mastercard Bank saying nice thing about garantee or stole items they will not honor their words. Hope these comments will help other customers like us. I made a claim more than 6 months ago and they never paid the clinic. Be prepared if you want to talk to an agent, the waiting time is between 1 to 2 hour.
Never deal with this company
Never deal with this company! I purchased a Blue Cross medical coverage policy assuming I would be well looked after should there be a claim.
In April of 2022 I hurt my leg and required stitches at the local Emergency Room in US. 14 months later they have still not paid the hospital bill. I personally know it was provided to them a minimum of three times. Their latest message in May 2023 is that they never received the bill and will contact the hospital to get one. That was weeks ago. I have made many calls, submitted all forms required, and sent numerous emails to no avail. I have spent many hours trying to deal with this company with no follow up or results. Tried to call again today three times and the recording announced the wait time to be "under 1 hour" on the first call, "under 1.5 hours" on the second, and "under 2 hours" on the third attempt. NO customer service, NO communication, and NO fulfilment of claims from this company. DO NOT USE.

Non-existent, terrible customer service
On March 11, 2023, I was injured in Mexico and fell off 4-5 foot landing with no railing onto a concrete floor. Broke and dislocated my right wrist and required emergency treatment in a Mexico hospital and needed surgery. Had my wrist relocated (closed reduction), an overnight to watch for head trauma, and required substantial pain meds in the process.
The surgery date coincided with the end of our trip and flight home, so we chose to repatriate and get the surgery there. Fortunately, my work travel insurer had a zero deductible rider, for emergency treatment only. At the time of my injury, the records/insurance department at the Mexico Hospital was closed, so we had to give a credit card number to pay for the services in the event they later had issues with the insurer. To date as of May 15, 2023, we have yet to see a bill, or a credit card charge but our claim and automated email from CanAssistance said our claim is being evaluated and a decision on that claim would be decided on within 30 days of receipt of the email and that the decision would be mailed. That was April 20, 2023.
Being the pro-active guy that I am, and wanting to make sure there were no hiccups, I called a few days after receiving that email and was put on hold for 1-1.5 hours before speaking to an operator. Upon getting through, I told the operator I was inquiring about claim number 1234567, and was looking for an update to its status. The operator told me just to hold on the line for a second, and I was quickly whisked back into the main queue where the automated message manager advised I was back on a 2+ hour wait time. Was this a joke? I waited on hold for 5-10 minutes, quickly realizing this was not a joke and I hung up.
Today, May 15, 2023, I called back, but called early and got into a queue of 15-20 minutes. Once I spoke to the operator again asking for an update to my medical claim, it went the exact same way again, being told to wait, putting me back on hold and into the general queue line, now at 1.5+ hours. I waited 15 minutes just to be sure, and determined this was no accident. From my short experience, this is their usual way of doing business. Ultimately, I hung up.
So as of right now, I have no clue if my medical claim was approved or if I'm facing any bill in the mail. I was only attempting to make a basic query and couldn't even get a simple update.
God help anyone who is trying to deal with this terrible customer service. I also I'm not type of guy to complain for the sake of complaining. If this is their usual way of doing business, wasting my time on hold for as long as they have, just to put me on hold longer, I wouldn't want to be dealing with them attempting to recoup medical expenses after the fact.
I guess I'm crossing my fingers that my medical expenses in Mexico go smoothly behind the scenes, but simply, I have no clue and have no update from anyone.
What I will be doing is double-checking my travel credit card's underwriter to make sure it's not Can Assistance. If it is, I'm changing cards. After reading the other reviews, I won't be using my work insurer out-of-country emergency coverage again and getting 3rd party coverage when I travel (if not covered in my travel credit card) and I'm avoiding Can Assistance like the plague.
Canassistance horrendous service
Ditto--to what everyone has said that it is a horrible company. Service is exceptionally slow (because everyone still has covid brain and is working from home), people are inept (cannot get an address, phone number or email correct even though provided on many different platforms). It feels as if they hope people will just give up so they don't have to pay. Shame on #AlbertaBlueCross for using this company as their third party travel insurance.

Slowest response or NO response at all in request to any claim, I had been purchasing insurance from different Canadian insurance companies (such as, Visitor Visa insurance, Super Visa insurance ), my father got detected cancer and after 7 to 9 month he passed away, and then I had to deal with them, end result is as follow:
All invoices which was sent to these insurance companies by doctors and hospitals came back to me as UN-PAID with final notice, I had to pay for all invoice, in reply I got very little, thanks to God that my brother and my-self had enough to pay for our expenses. I would not recommend buying insurance from them, in-fact you can buy insurance from Back Home insurance company or any other company.
My personal experience, when you need them they are not there to help and when you call Travelance Inc they will redirect you to Old Republic Insurance Company of Canada them they will forward you to Orican Canadian claim and one time they even asked me to send all docs and they said they did not received it. I would say these companies are, un-professional, irresponsible and unethical. Whereas, final decision is yours, whereas, I have no trust on them.
I know, that after my review, their SEO team will give me some phone number to contact to provide a apology or sympathy, which for sure I do not need, I just like new people to be aware of their services.

very disorganized company that processes your claims for various insurance companies and will tell you "thats all we need", then some months later send you threatening letters demanding to be paid back in full for the insured services or they will send you to collections, because you haven't filled out some form that they never sent. At no time will they reach out to you and ask if you got the forms, they will ignore it and then act indignant that you didn't read their minds.
Typical crappy french Canadian companies' attitude. I will not purchase insurance through any company that uses them as a claims processor ever again.
