I applied to refinance my 2023 Tesla Model Y through Caribou. The initial offer was competitive, so I completed the application, submitted the requested documents, authorized the credit inquiry, and was notified that my application was ready to move forward.

**Wednesday, September 30:**
My loan advisor contacted me regarding the refinance and sent me the available offers. We discussed the refinance by phone, and I received information about several optional protection packages. After the package information was sent, I was placed on hold for approximately 30 minutes without anyone returning to the call.

**Thursday, October 1:**
My loan advisor texted that he had gotten as far as he could without speaking with me and asked when we could finish the process.

I responded that I was ready to proceed, but before making a decision on optional add-ons, I wanted to review the base loan and confirm the final APR, 60-month payment, amount financed, fees, and lender.

When I was told Caribou would be closed at the time I was available that evening, I provided another specific time and also offered Saturday or Monday afternoon. I asked the advisor to let me know which time worked. I received no confirmation.

**Saturday, October 3:**
The loan advisor called me without a previously confirmed appointment time. I answered the call and asked him to hold for a minute while I gathered my paperwork so we could discuss the refinance. Approximately 30 seconds later, the call was disconnected. I did not receive a return call to continue the conversation.

I subsequently spoke with another Caribou representative and explained the communication problem and that I was considering another refinance offer.

**Monday, October 5:**
The loan advisor characterized the situation as “phone tag” and again asked when I was available. I responded with a specific time of **3:30 PM EST that day** and asked if that worked. Once again, I received no confirmation of the appointment time.

Instead, I later received another message saying Caribou had tried calling me and warning that my pending application might expire.

That was the point at which I decided not to proceed.

The problem was never that I was unwilling to communicate. I repeatedly provided specific times and asked Caribou to confirm an appointment so we would not continue missing one another. Those requests were repeatedly left unanswered, followed by calls at unspecified times when I could not necessarily answer.

What makes this particularly disappointing is that Caribou was persistent in contacting me when they needed me to advance the application. Once I completed the application, provided my documents, authorized a credit inquiry, and asked to review the final base-loan terms before purchasing optional products, obtaining consistent communication became unnecessarily difficult.

I have now asked Caribou to withdraw my application. I would rather pursue another lender, even if doing so results in another credit inquiry, than continue a refinance process with this level of customer service and communication.

Customer service hands down also responds quickly. And the time it’s so convenient. Thank you!

The process of refinancing my vehicle was straightforward and the loan closed without any issues. They were able to reduce my interest rate 6.5% from the loan I received through dealership only a couple of months prior. The loan officer and underwriter were very courteous and knowledgeable in guiding me through the process. I can't believe how much I saved over the life of the loan.

I started the process of refinancing me auto loan through capital one and they contacted me with Caribou, The guy I was talking too told me it would only take 2 weeks to complete.
After 3 months of back and forth calls and texts, no text response I finally get a call saying that it’s been to long and I need to submit a new application. At this point I’m pissed that it had not been completed on there end. I complete the Docusign and resubmit a couple other things and this time it only took 48 hours for them to complete the process.

The representatives made the process easy to understand and what the next steps are. They were personable and answered all my questions. Glad I made the change from my credit union to Caribou. Saved me $100/ month and $2k interest on the loan.

Auto loan refinance was the easiest experience I’ve ever had thanks to Jimmy. He went above and beyond to make sure I submitted the correct documents and knew the status of my application each step of the way. He worked with me according to my own schedule which not many people do.

Deeply disappointed with this experience. We connected with Caribou to refinance a car loan. We have "excellent" credit and were originally offered a great rate and monthly payment. When Caribou called back to confirm the loan, the percentage went UP 1.1% and the monthly payment was MORE than what we pay now even though the length of the loan had not changed. All of this AFTER we were hit with the hard credit check. No thanks. Really disappointed. The only plus were the staff -- they were nice and didn't try to pressure me when I declined the new offer.

I worked with Corey and Nina and both of them were so professional and helped me so much with understanding my refinance. They made it so simple and I felt so comfortable. Corey showed me all my options for choosing which finance options and Nina helped me get all my documentation together.
