I contacted Carrington Mortgage Services by phone on April 7 at 12:44 PM to request assistance with setting up recurring additional payments toward my loan principal. During the call, the representative, Priscilla, was unprofessional, frequently interrupted me, and did not allow me to fully explain my request. The interaction felt dismissive and discourteous.
As a borrower trying to responsibly manage and pay down my mortgage faster, I expected clear guidance and respectful communication. Instead, I left the call without a resolution and with concerns about the level of customer service being provided.
I would like assurance that customer service interactions will be handled more professionally in the future.
To bad they don't have negative stars. This place is a scam. You can't pay down the principal by more than a couple grand at a time. So I waited on hold forever to get an address to do a large principal pay down and finally got ahold of someone. He reluctantly gave me the address so I mailed a check (which is the ONLY way they would accept a pay down). 3 weeks later the funds still had not cleared by bank account and then a week later I got my check back in the mail saying I can only pay it off with a cashier's check. Something they conveniently failed to tell me about. Refinance away from these absolute clowns.

I was divorced. My ex and i shared one account designed to pay obligatory bills. When he died i found he had disinherited me from everything. He even tried to set me up to pay for my own "buyout" of the house. I had major surgery and was in the hospital the same time he was. My bank informed me the account was now mine. They told me my obligations and lack of obligations. Due to my hospitalization my bank was stellar!!! they tried with rapid speed to stop any auto drafts or any bill pays not associated with me from hitting the account. Two weeks later a mortgage payment hit the account anyway. Well i did't inherit the house, his son did. i wasn't obligated to make any payments after he died. the account was mine, i did't authorize them to take anything new from it. Should be an easy fix right? My bank sent the death form to Carrington and explained the situation; that however it happened (it really does't matter how) a payment on a house ( i didn't own) got through and charged my personal account. Carrington told the bank they would look into it but we heard nothing. I tried contacting Carrington by phone and mail for the next few months (multiple times). The scenerio would start 1. they would not talk to me because i wasn't on the mortgage 2. i would explain that i know i am not on the mortgage and didn't want to talk about the mortgage. I want to talk about an accidental draft. 3. No matter how it happened, they have a payment i did not want to make. A payment i tried to stop. A payment on a property i don't even own or am not attached to in any way. 4. They would look into it. Around and around the conversation would go with no resolution for months. I also wrote multiple letters and emailed. I finally received a response that said 'because the money came from your account we don't have to give it back'. Wait! What??? I tried one more time to reason with them "yes, it came from my account but as you said (multiple times) i am not on the mortgage and i am not the inheritors. The payment was a mistake. The payment was an accident we tried to stop. My bank even told you. The account is not joint anymore. Please, i was disinherited because i had to turn in my husband of 26 years on a federal offense. regardless of how you got the money, you even admit it was an accident. You see clearly that me, the owner of that account, didn't authorize that payment andvtried to stop it. It is for a property i dont own. You acknowledge i don't own the house." the final letter, (which i will gladly share with anyone to see for themselves) just said since the payment came from my end they don't have to make it right. They fully acknowledge that i am not the inheritors and am not on the mortgage. They fully acknowledge the money was sent to them after my ex-husband's death. They clearly see the error. They have the inheritors contact information. The answer is they found their own form of a loophole. They do not have good ethics in my opinion. They don't care if a stranger on the street made the payment accidently. If it came from any person to them then they dont have to give it back. Their reasoning is "someone sent it to us so that's their problem." BEWARE if you are going to deal with them. The only thing missing from their last letter was a picture of a kid in 3rd grade sticking their tongue out saying "nah nah" i really could use MY money back.
