I don’t ever leave poor reviews like this, but I felt compelled due to how ridiculous their treatment of me as a customer was. Closets by Design admitted the handle placement on my cabinetry was a clear problem but have now refused to fix it. The top drawer they installed is completely nonfunctioning, and Anna tried to claim she thought I wanted it that way—despite it making no sense for someone to want a nonfunctioning, uneven drawer.

Since they installed it, it’s incredibly difficult to have a different contractor fix these issues. While Anna seemed fine during the initial quote and design process, she was unnecessarily rude and dismissive in follow-ups, which really stood out. The communication was poor, and I’m left with a poorly executed product. I would not recommend working with this company.

I had the absolute worst experience with Closets by Design. From the initial consultation to the final (unfinished) product, it was nothing but frustration. Communication was terrible—getting updates or answers to simple questions was like pulling teeth. The installation was sloppy, and the quality of the materials didn’t match what was promised during the consultation. I would not recommend this company to anyone—save yourself the stress and look elsewhere!

I had custom shelving installed in both my large walk-in pantry and master closet. It was a two day job, and was completed this afternoon. The installer, John, was incredible - professional, on time, courteous, and thorough. I am thrilled with the product and completed project.

The entire process from start to finish was a dream. Maria is an excellent agent and created an outstanding closet arrangement. The installers were courteous, friendly and very professional. The finished product far exceeded my expectation, and I will definitely use Closets by Design for any future projects.
The cost was more than I hoped for, but much less than I expected. I highly recommend this company!!

This company has the worst customer service. After installing a design totally different from what I ordered, no one can be found to discuss the issue as a guy named Michael had stated. All they want is your money and no follow up on the service provided. Jasmine is the worst salesperson, she needs to try to do something else and learn how to provide good customer care.

I was considering having my entire duplex outfitted with Closets by Design services. The local North Vancouver, BC designer came by and spent the majority of the initial visit insulting me. The local Vancouver office has acknowledged my experience to be true and said it was an isolated incident and there was no intention behind his comments. It seems like nothing is being done about this.

The Designer repeatedly told me I "couldn't afford" Closets by Design services for a custom wardrobe. When asked why he thought he knew my finances, he said because "this isn't a 60 million dollar home in West Vancouver". He also saw fit to say that my construction costs will be high and this wasn't for us. He refused to give a rough quote during the visit. He also said that 9 times out of 10 he designs a wardrobe and people do not go through with it because of the price tag.

The local representative has not returned my two calls (with one attempt on my part yielding “your address was not on file”) and has been communicating over email after a few pointed attempts for an update on the designer’s behaviour.

I had Closets by Design add cabinets and several small slant walls in my garage to get things organized and neater behind doors.
Diana Morice did excellent job designing and the installers also very professional. I am extremely pleased with the turnout.

Our original closet collapsed. We contacted Closets by Design and they sent designer out the next day. We agreed on a design to meet our needs and were delighted to get a install date quickly. The installation team of Sylvester and James were very professional as well as personable. We are very pleased with our new closet. We will recommend to others

Everything went well to start, rep who came to the house was professional and knowledgeable. Installation was actually earlier than scheduled, and installers did a good job. However, after they left we noticed a gap between unit and one wall. We contacted the company and they said it would cost anther $200 to fix the issue. Totally unacceptable, additionally, after a month the quality of the materials is good but not great for what we paid. We could have done just as good if we did it ourselves.

I had a great experience with closet by design the design person Kateryna and the install person Emeka did a wonderful job and were very personable
Building a closet is expensive so you need a good team.

Horrific experience. lack of caring for costumer, lack of internal control, quality control, poor material, wrong material delivered, poor communication, very poor management, poor communication between factory and installer and providing of items. lack of staff. installers are new, designers are new. improper design/measurements. installation with doors being stuck. cracks in the panels, wrong drawers delivered. many many delays. lack of response to calls. severe stress.
this company should not be in business. very poor experience with the north west NJ (Florham park specifically) office. Would NOT recommend and am recommending others not to ever use, stay away. reporting to BBB

Closet by Design installers came out on Sept. 24th 2024 to install my closet. I was very upset because I thought I needed more clothes rods but once I put my clothes in the closet and added a chair along with a small leg rest. I fell in love with my closet. I am so sorry for the first review I gave out of anger. I truly recommend Closet by Design!! The installers did an excellent job thank you very much!!!

I would give it half a star if I could. The incompetent designer turned in a design that was not what I asked for, measurements were wrong and left part of my closet damaged. The company does not care - that is effectively the response I received. Use them at your peril. Nasty, offensive employees.

We engaged with Closets by Design to remodel our existing closet, and the initial phase was encouraging, with good service and with an experienced design consultant, Kerry. After this, all went downhill:

- They sent only one person to complete the job in 2 days. The job was assigned to Jose who did not have all the information and right materials to do the job. He struggled to fit the doors and left at 9 pm on day #2 without completing the job and he said that I had to call the office to see when they would complete it.

- The next day I contacted Steve (Installation Manager) who vaguely said that they will eventually finish the job sometime in the future as they had already other commitments (ie. new customers); therefore, we were left with a half-done product and they had collected 100% of the installation/materials cost. This means, I had no leverage to get them to complete the job sooner rather than later.

- I was not happy with Steve's response so I asked to be contacted by the franchise owner, Brandon, who assured me that we will get someone out the next day to complete the job. That didn't happen, and I kept getting excuses and stories about machine malfunctioning and lack available personnel (that being the reason that my doors were not cut and ready). I think other clients were prioritized as Closets by Design already had 100% of the money, therefore there was no incentive for them to complete the job.

- Eventually, they sent a 2-man crew to finish the job, but they came with no instructions, no knowledge of what needed to be completed and on top of this, they brought only half of the doors, and they had the wrong color. Again, we were left with a half-done product, having paid 100% of the cost.

- I had to call again to push for a solution and they were unresponsive until I told them that I had disputed the 50% final payment with my credit card company. Only that, got them to send a crew to finish the work the week after.

In summary, a very painful experience for a very simple job. Their installers were sent without instructions, the materials were not the right size and/or color and worse, the attitudes of Steve and Brandon were unprofessional and disrespectful.

I designed a plan to convert my reach-in closet into a home office. Bianca worked closely with me to determine the exact specifications I needed, probably something that's a bit different from a typical closet design! They were very flexible with my schedule for installation and offered low-cost in-house financing.

Alayna Levey, my assigned designer, was absolutely amazing! She was prompt for our appointment and extremely thorough with measuring and describing all that was possible. Her tips were great! She was very patient and professional.
She returned my calls, answered my questions, & explained the process including timing.
Customer service reps were polite & knowledgeable. If they did not have answers to my questions they always passed on question to those who did & I always received a call back within reasonable time 24 - 48 hours.

The installers, arrived on time, did a great job, kept the work area clean. At the completion of their work I was & am pleased with my closets. I highly recommend this company & have recommended it to friends & family.

I made an appointment with this company August 26, 2024. Consultant is very impatient and tells me that company called and texted me the past hour to ensure that I am aware of the appointment. I arrived at my home 10 minutes prior to appointment. There is no phone call or text records. I basically told her that I am obviously here and want to hear her suggestions. Consultant comes into my home and I show her the 2 closets I that have storage issues. She measures the spaces and quickly we come to the living room and I tell her to take a seat. She insists to sit in my dining room that is surrounded by boxes that clearly need to be moved... She keeps bugging me about this and clearly does not show courtesy or empathy when it is quite obvious that I am still unpacking after a BIG HOUSE MOVE in July 2024. We discuss further something and then I get upset and simply ask her to LEAVE MY HOUSE. I will not allow anyone into my house if they cannot behave like proper guests!! PERIOD. Show some respect for your customers. I am now dealing with a competitor. I have addressed this issue with the company that they do not seem to care. They are probably wondering why I am making such a fuss!! Clearly they do get it...You need to build a relationship with your customer first before getting into a discussion. Sitting at a coffee table with brand new leather couches is not good enough for this consultant? You are not welcome to my home....

We needed some closets build in our garage so we hired someone from Closet by design company. Someone came out to our house to take the measurements and post gave us a date on July 18, 2024. It was supposed to be two day job. It took over 6 weeks and we are still not done. Today is August 26th and I am being told they will give another date to come finish up the job, which is frustrating because it feels like i am working around their schedule. They charged my CC the full balance even though the job is not done. The guy name is Eddie, charged me full payment without finishing up the job. He is not reasonable to talk to. He is rude, and had no manners or care to please the customers. Every time I brought up any issue with closets, he would refer it back to the contract, the same contract also says, "last payment upon job completion". I would not recommend Closet by design to anyone. I just want my money back if they are not planning to finish up the job. There are few things missing. The left side of my closet are held by one tiny little anchor. It is not secured properly. I have two little kids in the house and it doesn't feel safe. There is a drawer that is sitting still on the floor and missing few hinges. And door handles are not on. I have been using closets without door handles.

Buyer beware!! I have used this company before and was completely satisfied. We moved to Florida and needed our closet done. Since I used them before I didn’t think to call anyone else. The designer came and measured. We thought the price was too high. She reduced the price. The problem was that she lied and when the installer came he had a much smaller shelf width. Unfortunately I signed off on a design that was not what we were told we were getting, I take responsibility for trusting her word. I never received the final paperwork for the closet design so I didn’t know that the sizes were different. This woman was a lying snake for her commission. I’m now stuck with a closet that doesn’t have the space I need. The manager was a complete jerk and just wanted to explain away the company position. I was told if I wanted what I was told I would get I would have to pay for the existing closet and start over. I have never felt so disgusted, nor have I ever been so lied to. I will make sure I let people know not to use this disreputable company!!! There is much more yo this story but my stomach and heart can’t take any thing further. If I could give them a zero I would.

I called to cancel our order because it just wasn't going to work for us. We realized that we could not easily remove the built in desk that had to be removed to install the original design. It took three days to get the answer from a handyman! They refused to refund our depot fully and charged us $530.00 because we were 12 hours past their time. Twelve hours!

Should really be a ZERO!!!
