Why has it taken over a month 8 phone…

Why has it taken over a month 8 phone calls and 5 hours of my time to get reimbursed for 3 months of pharmacy recipts 12 in total 4 each month on same day two be submitted 3 times and still denied coverage after asking for a manager's call back three times and three different calls over A month's time and not one call have I got I was told all kinds of different answers none of them being right until I find they figured out I needed a waiver form which I've added long ago and still not fixed up I have been told by eight different reps that the receipts I submitted showed retracted but a manager was reviewing them and changing them as we spoke over four different phone calls and none of that was true I had a reference number on file for over 3 weeks that nothing has been done with ridiculous

Ridiculous wait times to remove funds

I have been a client with Co-operators Financial Services for some time and have generally been pleased with several aspects of their offering. The staff is consistently friendly and knowledgeable, their fees are reasonable, and their investment options perform well.
Unfortunately, my experience with a transfer request has been deeply disappointing. I submitted a transfer order in early December, and as of April 10—over four months later—the process has still not been completed. This significant delay has left me unable to access my funds in a timely manner.
While I appreciate the quality of their advisory team and investment products, an investment service is only as good as its ability to execute basic transactions efficiently. What value does strong advice and performance hold if clients cannot move or withdraw their money within a reasonable timeframe?
I hope Co-operators addresses these operational bottlenecks to better support their clients. I would not recommend their investment transfer services based on this experience.

I had a very frustrating experience…

I had a very frustrating experience with my insurance claim.

After my accident, my vehicle was declared a total loss, but my claim was denied due to “collision declined” on my policy — even though I clearly remember asking for full coverage during my phone call with the agent.

When I requested the call recording, I received a version that does not include the part where coverage was discussed. Despite raising this concern multiple times, I was told the recording is “complete” without any proper explanation.

On top of that, I was told that changes were made at a local office — which is simply not true, as I never visited any office to make changes to my policy.

Throughout this process, I asked very clear questions:
- Who made the change to my policy?
- What proof is there that I declined collision coverage?
- When and where did this supposed in-person change happen?

Unfortunately, I did not receive clear answers. Instead, I was given vague responses and told that the decision is final.

As a customer, this is extremely disappointing. I trusted the process and believed I had full coverage based on my conversation, only to find out after the accident that my policy did not reflect that.

I am now escalating this matter further.

I hope this review helps others double-check their coverage and documentation carefully.

VERY POOR service!

VERY poor service! Especially if you have to deal with the call center and not your local branch. I’ve tried phoning 5 times at different times of the day. Only got through once after being on hold 5 HOURS! Every other time I rather gave up at 3hours or got my call dropped after 2hours.

Former Employee

I am a former, now retired, claims employee of the company. I started in the early 2000s and this was by far, one of the best companies in Canada to work for. It worked very hard to look after its local clients with a strong push towards service and client satisfaction. The employees were happy, well paid and truly loved their jobs and looking after their local clients. Things changed about 15 years later with the appointment of CEO Rob Wesseling. The company's co-operative values were flushed down the toilet and instead of localized service, the thrust was now impersonal, national service. Adjusters are poorly trained and overworked. The company even changed its logo and moto "A Better Place For You". When employees are treated poorly, it is reflected in the service they provide. Having said that, 99% of insurance customers never read their policies, are clueless about what coverage they have and then blame the insurance company when they don't like how their claim has gone. This is not an excuse for poor customer service, but, take angry insurance company reviews with a grain of salt. The majority of insurance claims go off without a hitch.

I've never experienced anything so DISGUSTING!

As I'm submitting this review, I have been on hold FOR 4:54 HRS (8 minutes short of 5 HOURS!!!) to get an auto insurance quote. This is my 3rd day trying - other days spending up to 1.5 hrs. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING! I wish I could give a big fat 0!

This company can’t handle its business

This company can’t handle its business. I have been on hold for 3 days straight for over 4 hours just to get a quote and I can’t get through. Who has time for that? It’s just not acceptable for a business to run like that.

Absolute disaster for GRRSPs

Absolute disaster for GRRSPs. Nightmare website and no way to see the data entered for the group.

But mostly they get this rating for the absolute lack of customer service and support they provided for the various issues that came up. No point submitting help requests because they are consistently ignored. Calling in always seems to mean talking to someone recently hired who has no idea and can't answer questions, real problem with turnover apparently.

The WORST insurance company!

This company is awful, their prices are high and unreasonable. I contacted them to get a new price as I was able to find better pricing elsewhere with the same if not better coverage, had me paying 215$ a month, when others were 80-120$. They refused and said they were unable to lower my costs. Then when I went to cancel, they charged me a cancellation fee even though I had just paid them for the month, so ontop of my 215$ they charged me 163$ to cancel. They said it was their policy, because I had just renewed for a year, but they never even asked me if I wanted to renew, I was never made aware either. Mind you I was only 4 days after my renewal. No help, when asked to speak to a supervisor I was denied. No help! Also keep in mind I am on disability, low funding, and I asked for leniency, again not a care in the world. Absolute horrific policies and customer service, steer clear of co-operators.

If there was less then 1 star review- that’s what i would leave.
Absolutely unprofessional, useless, ignorant entity.
The agents, adjusters and everyone else I’ve dealt with have been awful- even worse then the imagination can come up with.
SCAM SCAM SCAM
Have had my policy with them for several years now-
Have increased my premiums for no reasons. With no prompting or heads up.
Now I have a claim with them as my car was damaged to the tune of $4700 . Apparently that’s ok to be fix on a valued car or $5800.
Although the damages far exceeds what is visibly apparent. Not only was the damaged rear bumper and tail light assembly, that’s what the only approved to get fixed- what about the axel, frame, suspension and everything else that comes with a rear impact- might I add they are aware that the other driver hit me twice- initially at 20-30 kmh and then put in reverse and hit me a second time out of rage.
No no no that’s not effected at all- 4 months later now after back and forth oh yes actually it is a write off - but wait a second now we are reviewing your claim. FOR WHAT REASON???
None what so ever. Had my MP sign a notarized document for them, sent them everything they asked.
Have had to call and call and call gotten the run around with no answers or responses…..always being passed to someone else.
soon to call a lawyer-canceling my multi vehicle policy moving on.
SCAM SCAM SCAM
I hope the right people read this and take action.

Four piece of Mind stay away

If you want to have any insurance I would highly recommend getting any other insurance company than this. They are a bunch of scammers who will raise your premium without any reason and when it comes to giving refunds they will promise you something and then give you something else sometimes the gap between the promise and the actual amount is more than 500. So you you need to understand that if you want peace of mind never go with this company

This awful insurance company tried to…

This awful insurance company tried to increase my premium by 12% this year for no good reason. I insure three vehicles and a home in a bundle. Got quotes from other insurance companies and found insurance for more than 50% less than Cooperators. Shop around people, I hesitate to call it a scam, but my goodness something is not right with that company. Get a quote from any of the other major insurance companies and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. I highly recommend SGI, for me they were more than 50% less than these guys.

TERRIBLE service, terrible work, dishonoring of policy!

We have been waiting for repairs since August 2025, and as of February 2026, our home is still not finished. We pay thousands of dollars annually for a prestige insurance policy, yet the service we’ve received has been unacceptable.

Communication has been a major issue from the start. Our assigned adjuster is based in Calgary while we live in Saskatchewan, and for over a month we received no responses to phone calls or emails. I was repeatedly left out of correspondence, only other policy holder was communicated with, until I contacted both management and the Ombudsman’s office. Only then did communication start, barely.

Our policy states that repairs will be completed with “like kind and quality” and restored to the condition “prior to the occurrence.” This has not been honored. Our flooring can no longer be matched, yet the company will only cover certain areas, resulting in visibly mismatched flooring throughout our basement. This is not equivalent in quality or appearance to what existed before the loss.

There have been some issues with repairs and we are still waiting for things to be concluded, maybe this time next year. 🤔

We have attempted to discuss policy options and resolutions, but cooperation has been minimal. One representative even hung up on us when we called another branch for clarification. However, they did say that it was up to our adjuster on whether or NOT they approve the cohesion throughout the basement, but she is NOT cooperating. It also makes me think that our current insurance ajuster has flagged us in the system, since we were hung up on.

This entire process has been frustrating, disappointing, and unnecessarily prolonged. For a company that advertises premium coverage and service, this experience has been far below expectations. We sincerely hope this claim is resolved soon, as nearly six months later, we are still waiting.

If you are considering this company, be prepared for long delays, and very poor communication. With rude and uncooperative adjusters.

Well after 35 years, we are done with Co-operators.

Well after 30 plus years of grade A service, I am leaving co-operators. This has been a ridiculous company to deal with in the past year. Agents are great. But the higher ups have made some horrible decisions. After 30 years of dealing with the same agent, I cannot contact their office anymore. The 25% increase in premiums was the last straw. I have 3 properties and 3 vehicles. Good bye Co-operators !!!

I am writing to file complaint about Co-operator service

I am writing to file complaint about Manjushree's (Co-operators) unethical and inflexible billing practices. After being a customer for more than 2 and half years with almost perfect record and nothing, I had to sell ( Trade-in) my car because I am getting another brand new one. I believed I was doing the responsible thing by cancelling my policy, as I no longer owned the vehicle. And also get a new one for the vehicle I am going to have on Saturday. Apparently I'd been quoted by Manjushree a little higher amount of Insurance policy for the new car and I decided to change Service despite my effort to give me best offer considering my history and good will because to be completely honest I didn't want to change from Co-operators.

Instead of a simple, prorated refund, I was hit with a shocking 345 Dollars ( which is one month full Auto and Home insurance payment) policy cancellation fee. i was shocked I didn't even started the coming month and I am calling early for cancellation because I didn't technically cancel my policy, I literally sold my car.

How is that be breach a of policy agreement and get penalized for that. It make no sense. and above all she mentioned you are getting a new car and literally mentioned this call is recorded kind of picked that from my mouth. This is totally worst customer service experience I've ever had.

This fee is not just an annoyance; it's fundamentally wrong. I am being punished for a normal life event. Their logic makes no sense.
After all this occurrence i told her to pursue the penalty fee and to cancel the policy on the COMING SATURDAY 01-FEB because that is the day that i am going to receive my new car while trading this car in.

The Most Surprising and Shocking thing happened tonight when I come back from work Police stopped me and asked for my insurance and apparently my Co-operators APP says "you don't have active policy". It looks like she cancelled he policy today WEDNESDAY.

Why Why Why..... This is the worst customer service experience I've ever had in my entire life. I am writing this email because I feel frustrated, sad, so irritated and at the same time feeling sorry for having this kind of agent in your company.
