Came same day after attempted break in meant our garage door would not close. Identified problem in seconds, quote within minutes and even rounded it down upon request. The fitter was polite and knew what he was doing. It now works better than it did before the break in.

Engineer fixed our door immediately. He was pleasant and polite and did a great job. The price of the job was a fraction of the cost of a new garage door so altogether very pleased.

I waited for over a month for the garage manufacturer to call back with a repair appointment- never happened despite multiple calls from me. They were also going to charge a whopping call out fee. I then googled again and found Dawes doors and had an appointment within a day and it was fixed within the hour. The engineer was incredibly friendly and helpful. I knew it was going to cost a bit tbh and it wasn’t cheap but I also feel I paid for the prompt service. Finally we can get in and out of the garage again!

I can say that all was good to start with.
Lady answered phone quickly & advised engineer would be there that day & ring an hour before he called & he did.
My problem was that garage door was opening at a slant.
The door was closed when engineer arrived.
I opened it slightly & engineer said thats fine I can see its the cable. I then closed it.
He went to his van & said he’d get a price .
My phone rang & the lady said it would be £105 + VAT = £126. At this stage i’m still thinking this is for the cable & thought the price was very reasonable.
When the engineer went through the garage he did not want me to open it up higher than my waist. He shut the door behind me so i went round the back door to the garage & asked if he wanted a light on. He said he didn’t as had a light on his head.
I walked back to the front less than 10 minutes & the engineer came out through the garage & I said that was quick.
The engineer said it was just a lot of rust & put some lubricant on it. I said it wasn’t the cable& he said no. I then said £126 alot of money for a bit of rust . He said it was a no parts charge. I wasn’t happy & he said but don’t worry you get a 12 month guarantee with it. He said the invoice would be emailed to me.
When the email came it had door adjustment- No Guarantee
This really annoyed me as I felt conned & lied too.
I tried ringing the company but could never get through as Molly AI kept saying someone would ring me back.
Of course I never got a call back so I went on head office site & used the email contact .
I emailed a lady called Tina & she replied saying how sorry she was to hear of my complaint & that someone would be in touch within 24 hours.
Nobody ever rang me & after several emails after 4 weeks my daughter said she would ring on my behalf. I tried once more & got AI
message yet again. When my daughter rang her call was answered straight away.
She passed the man on to me & I explained why I wasn’t happy . He was very abrupt & said yes it was a no parts charge. I said i thought it was for a cable initially & then I was lied to regarding the guarantee.
I told him that I had been emailing Tina at head office & he just said Tina she’s AI .
I was so annoyed that I had been emailing an AI all this time with nothing been done. You would not gave known this was not a real person.
Although not against the law not to tell you about AI it is customer trust that you lose if there is no indication about AI on an email.
The man was very rude & arrogant & had the cheek to say to my daughter I am a human being & to that she replied I’m sorry I thought you were AI too. The phone was then put down.
No one from the company has been in touch but my daughter tried to say to the man about their company complaints procedure was at fault . Either AI was not doing her job properly by not reporting my complaint or rather she was by keeping me
away from mithering & blocking my number.
I WOULD WARN OTHERS REGARDING USING THIS COMPANY AS BEING UPFRONT & HONEST IS NOT IN THEIR COMPANY POLICY & CUSTOMER SERVICE IS NONE EXISTENT.

Having just read the reply from Dawes doors I can only re-iterate what I have said above as being honest & true. I stand by my comment that this company is not honest & upfront.
No I was not told over the phone it was for a door adjustment & it did not carry a guarantee. I think the engineer Chris needs to stop lying & being underhanded to his customers.
With regards them saying they did not block my number then why have they never got back in touch after nearly 5 weeks of complaining . Only by using a different number did they pick up.
This was their first reply to me because I was able to air my complaint on trust-pilot.
I’m sure their reply has been AI generated too.
All I can say is don’t be taken in by their very professional looking advertisement as they are certainly not trusting professionals.

Booked a appointment for Saturday no show rang the office engineer was running late rescheduled for afternoon still no show 4pm get automated phone call engineer cant make it priority for Monday, Monday comes and goes now Thursday still nothing dont bother with this company they obviously have so much work they don't need any customers

One side of garage door fell down, contacted Dawes and they could come same day, great

Guy came and we were quoted over £350 to fix the issue , seemed a bit high but what doesn’t cost a fortune nowadays!?

we were desperate so went ahead.

They spent less than 45 mins in total at the job (including arriving and giving the quote), so about 20-30 mins of work l, but who cares right, at least it was fixed ?

Nope , within a couple hours of the job being finished the garage door dropped again,

We have spent the last 3 days with an open garage desperately trying to get Dawes to come back and sort this, as it’s a massive security issue!

We have waiting in 3 days, being told “someone will be with you today by 6” , 6 comes and no sign of anyone. They seemingly have no way to contact the tradesmen to check where they are which as a tradesmen myself is unfathomable

So, 3 seperate days in a row being told
Someone will be here by 6 and at 6:00pm no one has arrived.

So guess what, not only am I giving a bad review , im filing a chargeback with the bank for fraudulent work.

worse of all? I’m gonna pass on advice on how to fix these things your self and avoid this mess.

I purchased for £8 from B&Q a wire and 2 small clamp bits to secure the wire again on the dropped side, I looked up on YouTube how to do this and did it myself in 30mins tonight!

I’m in the wrong trade clearly, I’ve invoiced my wife for £360 tonight for the 30 mins of gruelling work as it’s the going rate!

Avoid

Contacted the company for a call out and an appointment was made. This company cancelled the appointment and made another one due to an engineer being off sick, another appointment was made and was cancelled again. Third appointment also cancelled and fourth appointment was made, waited in all day as we were told they would call an hour before they arrived - only for the company to cancel at 4.30pm again. Shocking service and will not use again.

From Start to finish, Grant (the fitter) was very clear and concise with what the trouble was and what needed to be done to fix the issue with our garage roller door. The process in speaking to Dawes doors to work completion was very straightforward. I highly recommend this company for any issues with your garage doors.

I received a call within 5 minutes of completing an online form and an engineer was present within the hour. Can’t comment on price as didn’t go elsewhere but customer service excellent, engineer well presented and polite and knowledgeable. Highly recommend.

Really professional service. Inspection of automatic roller shutter door revealed damaged straps. Jed, our technician diagnosed the problem and had repair parts on the van. The door was repaired within the hour as explained and then given another inspection to check operation and safety.
