Packaging was enough and in a box that just fit my products, which was great to keep the shipping cost down. The whole process is easy and great customer service.

Avoid DeJapan. They’re scammers. After you complete the purchase, they will charge you much more for shipping than what they say on their website. In my case it defeated the purpose of importing the item from Japan.
Tried them out because of a site my usual proxy can't order from. Overall good experience, will use them again if I need something from that site but will stick to my usual service otherwise.
Ordered two items through them, very varying purchase speeds. Items were packaged and shipped within a day each though, so the slow purchase might've been unlucky.
Fees are acceptable but could be a bit more clear on the website, which brings me to: The site is in dire need of an update, feels like something from 2010, using it is not a great experience.
I finally found a middleman that allows digital purchases for game accounts! When contacted via email, they responded very promptly and made it clear what the process/fees would be like. I received my item digitally within a few hours. Super happy to find DEJAPAN - other middlemen like ZenMarket or Buyee never allow this type of purchase. Thank you for the speedy service and friendly customer support <3
Awful customer service, slow site. Unclear about prices, expensive & overpriced.
Avoid.
Website: needs to be updated. Slow/laggy, clunky, unclear, and somewhat confusing to use and navigate. This wouldn’t be a big deal if there weren’t other glaring issues, namely that the fees and options are not at all clear for consolidation, packing, OR shipping.
Experience: it was my first time using a proxy service and I went with them by recommendation due to their supposedly cheap fees. They were very responsive but weren’t able to procure the main item I wanted in my order. Not their fault, the seller had reached their quota for DeJapan. I decided to continue with the other 2 items in my order.
There’s a 100 JPY consolidation fee for each item if you want everything packaged together, even items from the same website. No biggie. The fee also covers insurance for the items.
I made my first payment, things were moving along until the first major roadblock- packing. They were super vague with their packing options and associated fees. I was afraid to choose the “none” option, the first option listed, as it had no fee (listed as free) and I assumed meant no protective packing whatsoever (they didn’t specify). I chose the next option down- “minimal packing”, with a 300 JPY fee. The options start at “none” and seemed to progressively add more protection + more fees. So did minimal packing mean a step up from “none” with slightly more packing, hence the fee? Nope. The opposite! Do they explain this when you’re trying to choose your packing option? Nope! Minimal packing means they take packing OUT, it’s even less protective than “none” and also voids the insurance (you still pay for the insurance fee though.) They charge an extra fee for this, it’s done if you want to minimize shipping costs, which again they don’t explain when you’re choosing your packing option. I was confused and had to reach out to them about it after the fact- they couldn’t offer me a refund but they gave me a credit to offset the cost. Great! I was satisfied with that! +1!
The biggest problem came with shipping. They had a few shipping options listed, INCLUDING SAL (Surface Air Lift). I remember finding this odd; I had to find another proxy for the item they couldn’t get for me which mentioned that SAL was suspended due to COVID. I wasn’t sure what that meant or if it were true! Again, my very first proxy rodeo. Because I didn’t know better and because it was indeed listed (as the cheapest option aside from Surface Mail no less, with Surface Mail taking 3-4 MONTHS), I selected SAL.
I reach out to ask DeJapan about it just in case. They email me saying that I selected Surface Mail (I didn’t), that my order will take 3-4 months to arrive, that SAL wasn’t listed (it was) because it’s been suspended (I assume that’s true, but it was still listed as a selectable shipping option?) I know for a fact I didn’t select Surface Mail because I’ll be moving in less than 2 weeks. The package will have to be forwarded, which I specifically wanted to avoid along with the months-long estimated delivery time.
We go back and forth, I’m trying not to panic, they say there’s nothing they can do because my package has “already been processed for shipment”. They don’t explain what this means or why they can’t make any changes. Mind you this is a very short time from when I first reached out to them about my shipping concerns, IMMEDIATELY after selecting the SAL option they had listed. DeJapan just confirms my order, mentions it will take 1-3 business days for my package to ship from their warehouse (even as I’m emailing them about how this is a huge problem!) meanwhile the package sits in their warehouse and they do nothing.
I send them two emails asking for info and assistance. For the first time in our correspondence they take an hour to get back to me. When they finally do it’s not with any kind of real response to my concerns or complaints… it’s a generated email congratulating me on my order leaving their warehouse by Surface Mail (ship) which I never selected, will take 3-4 months, and that I’ll have to have forwarded to my new address. For that hour they ignored me they could have been trying to resolve the problem or at least emailed me back with a proper response. They still haven’t replied to me. It’s been radio silence since.
I won’t be using DeJapan again. I feel gross, taken advantage of, angry. Super disappointing. It sucks because I was so excited to use them. :/
Recap: I was initially thrilled by what I thought were low fees, good customer service + how responsive DeJapan was. Things slowly devolved from there until the problems made the service and my experience terrible. Never again. :’)
Dejapan helped me with my a family's milestone present
I did not realise how difficult it would be to purchase items from Japan online. Then I delved into the world of proxy services and was overwhelmed by the options.
I'm not going to lie, I was skeptical of Dejapan and its lack of fees (for a straightforward purchase and send) but they're legit and I received my package within a week of purchase, in mint condition.
Service was friendly and prompt via e-mail.
The only criticism is regarding the initial purchase where it got confusing, specifically the selection for a delivery plan. Both choices are indicated to be free when the 'consolidation + inspection + insurance' is not. And even when I selected to keep the original packaging (for free), it still defaulted to the first option. This may be an oversight and should be easy enough to fix to minimise confusion.
Overall, a brilliant service and one that I would recommend and use again in future.
Usually, I never write reviews about businesses, but this time my experience was so good that I decided to do it.
Let me be clear from the start : you can trust DEJAPAN.
There was an item available on a Japanese website which I wanted to buy, and without DEJAPAN it couldn't have been possible. I had several requests concerning this order, and DEJAPAN was able to fulfill all of them.
Of course, before starting the purchase, I asked them a lot of questions by e-mail because I wanted to make sure that it would be possible. They usually respond on the same day, or the day after, it all depends on your timezone.
You'll see by yourself that they're very nice and they always reply (except on Saturday and Sunday). So if you have questions, I'd recommend you to ask them.
About the site, the procedure is classic : they'll buy the item you want, receive it from the seller, and send it to you. Their website offers a lot of options like "keeping the original packaging", or "adding extra protection". It can be a bit confusing, so decide what you want beforehand (since you can't change options after that), and if you have a doubt I recommend that you ask them via e-mail.
About my last order with them, they bought the item very quickly, and when the item had arrived at their warehouse, they were very quick to pack it like I wanted.
I will not detail all the specific requests I asked them, but I can just tell you that these requests were a bit complicated...yet DEJAPAN did their very best and fulfilled all of them! If I had tried another service, let me be clear, there was just no way that it could have been possible so I'm very grateful to them!
About the package I received : the item was very well protected since I chose the "extra packing" option, and I don't regret it since it was necessary. Keep in mind that any extra packing will naturally increase the weight of your package though, this is the same for any service. The difference with Dejapan is that it's made with care in order to protect the product, and not to make the package heavy.
About the costs, of course you'll have the shipping costs to pay, and also some other fees depending on the order and the plan you pick. To avoid any confusion, again, ask them via e-mail!
As a conclusion, Dejapan is a proxy service that can be trusted, and if you do and make everything clear with them by asking them questions if you have any doubts, it should be ok for you!
They're very human, you can feel it in their e-mails and also in the way your package is packed.
Have been using DEJAPAN to buy my kpop goods and have no problems with using them! They order from Mercari as well but require 500 yen per order. Great customer service, secure packaging and they do a great job from start to finish.
Have been using DeJapan for a year now and have had a generally good experience with them. Customer service is very friendly and the fact that they don't charge for money transfers (to make up for credit card/ Paypal fees) is remarkable. Only other charges are a 100 JPY consolidation fee and 500 JPY for Mercari purchases.
They do tend to use larger boxes than are needed which can increase courier rates. But they use plenty of bubble wrap, so this also means that the items are better protected.
The main issue is insurance coverage on some items. As a result of recent changes in Japan Post regulations DeJapan is no longer able to add extra insurance to Japan Post shipments: packages are insured up to 20000 JPY on airmail and from 15170 to 31230 JPY depending on the weight for surface mail. Also, if your purchase has sales tax that is not included in your prepayment--for example, if you win a Yahoo auction with sales tax--the 10% sales tax is not included in the amount covered by insurance. This applies to all shipping methods.
There is no mention of this on their website.
As for fees that they don't mention: there aren't any. The fact that the second payment includes sales tax, local shipping, and consolidation fees, in addition to international shipping, can make for some sticker shock.
I used them for the first time recently for a small order and had no issues! Everything arrived quickly and safely! I have sent them emails asking questions and they are always happy to help and respond very quickly in very good, or even perfect, English! I’m using them again already!
I bought two high value items through DEJAPAN to be sent to the United Kingdom - totalling at over £5000 before shipping and duty. Needless to say I was super scared about the whole thing but DEJAPAN seemed the best proxy company in terms of communications based on what I'd read beforehand.
As I'd hoped, communications were excellent throughout the whole process. Very good English and lots of attention. DEJAPAN were as appropriately worried about the whole thing as I was and did their best to make sure it all went well.
Additional fees were negligible given the cost of the items and shipping was expensive (~£270) but not unexpected based what I've paid getting items shipped from Japan before and given I requested it was fully insured on purchase price. Post-Brexit import fees where a kick in the teeth when it got here but nothing that can be done about that!
Will gladly use again for buying hard to get items.
At first I was a bit skeptical for Dejapan but there was no need for this at all. They were clear about all costs on the FAQ and different information sections. They weighted the package honestly and therefore charged the right shipping fees (I weighted the package myself to check). The website itself could maybe use a bit of an update but it was easy to use nonetheless. That would be my only remark, other than that everything was solid! Especially the customer support was very friendly and patience even though I had many questions.
I have had a few orders over the last year through both air and sea with no problem. I always opt for protective packaging (for electronic devices) and they have come through secure and intact. Wonderful customer service and always a pleasure to do business with.
I've been using DeJapan as my main proxy service for years & they've been incredible so reading the negative reviews really does shock me. From ordering via sites that they advertise & using their request system, they've never let me down where it's possible to order an item for me. I have always had great customer service as well when required.
All-in-all, I really do recommend DeJapan as they've been nothing short of amazing in my experience!
Their site is beyond slow and laggy, but that isn't the worst part. they don't tell you all the fees you're gonna be paying on until the item arrive at their warehouse and then you get a surprise with the 2nd payment full of fees you didn't know about. 0% commission fees yea, but lets just overcharge in other places, and they will absolutely shove that "0% commission fees" in every place they possibly can to give you the illusion that they're the best, but don't be fooled.
They have are pretty fast when responding and replying. When in terms of COVID they have been relatively cheaper shipping than companies like Buyee and Tenso. Sometimes they can be annoying when you want to ask a seller a question through the company and demand that you pay the amount you offer to the seller as a negotiation. Last majority of the time when came to refunds they gave it back in hours except once it took like a week which was lot of pain.
I'm honestly shocked by all of the poor reviews for DeJapan. I've been using them for a little over a year and have had nothing but incredible service. Obviously shipping is expensive--its from Japan. That shouldn't be that hard for people to understand, and that's not DeJapan's fault. They offer multiple shipping options to fit any shopper's budget, in my opinion. They're always super fast with responses and have THE lowest fees of ANY shopping service. I recommend to everyone.
I tried buying a baseball jersey through DEJAPAN recently and it was infuriating and utterly fruitless. After entering every box in the URL item request, it would give me a generic error message about the submission being incorrect. It was not. That was when it gave me an error message even related to the form and not just a runtime error. It gave me that at multiple failed stages of this purgatory. After changing any minor thing I could, I finally got a more specific critique. Turns out, it didn't like the comma in the price box. So I deleted it and the request went through. Then I made an account. That also gave me a runtime error at first. Afterwards I put in what payment method I wanted and clicked to continue to the final part. Another runtime error. After going back, it retroactively went through...only to tell me the item was out of stock. It went on sale less than 2 hours before the time I started this whole shitshow. So that was a blatant lie. After that, I decided this company could shove it. Do NOT use this service. You'd be more successful in getting your product from Japan by putting your cash into your garbage disposal. At least it wouldn't give you as many errors...
I made a purchase on the site they instantly canceled it and offered a refund. However they contactes me again demanding me to pay for it a second time if I didn't they were goingtosuspended my account. I did pay for but they suspended my account anyway and cancel my order again. Do not TRUST!!!
