Account & TRADFI frozen for 19 days – only generic replies, zero transparency (1233 USD)

Review text:

Gate.io has frozen my Spot and TRADFI accounts (UID 13469988) for 19 days now with approximately 1233 USD completely locked.

• Full KYC completed long ago
• No suspicious activity — only normal trading on TRADFI
• No password, 2FA or device changes

Despite multiple tickets (1615748, 1616061) and escalation requests, support continues to send the same copy-paste replies: “we are reviewing”, “escalated”, “please be patient”. They refuse to give any specific reason, required documents or even an estimated timeline.

I have already sent several detailed follow-ups and a final warning. Still nothing but silence or generic templates.

This is very poor customer service and unacceptable way to treat user funds.

I urge Gate.io to finally resolve this case or at least provide basic transparency.
Will update this review based on their response.

Update May 6, 2026:
Gate replied to my review with the exact same generic template I have been receiving for 19+ days (tickets 1615748 & 1616061). Still no specific reason, no required documents, and no timeline.
My 1233 USD remain frozen. This is unacceptable.
Will continue to update this review.

Careful they keep your money for themselves!

They keep your money for themselves!
After withdraw crypto to my personal wallet, Gate blocked any new withdraws. It´s been +8 months that I can´t withdraw my money, more than 10k stuck on Gate!
I´ve send multiple tickets to support, always replays from Ai Bots, and when someone replies say they are going so upscale, Replying: “please wait, your funds are safe” “Please rest assured that we are doing everything we can to expedite the process and will notify you as soon as the issue is resolved. Thank you very much for your patience and understanding.. “ bla..bla.. for +8 months now!
I´ve send emails to Gate Support, Gate OPS, Gate Regulatory, and they don´t resolve the situation, always stalling! Saying for me to contact an India police inspector or seek India legal advice, and I´m from Europe! Never been to India nor do I know any India citizens!

Gate is easily one of my favorite…

Gate is easily one of my favorite exchanges. The UI is clean, the mobile app doesn't lag, and the fee structure is very reasonable. Support can be a tad slow when things get crazy, but honestly, the platform's stability makes up for it. Definitely recommend it for both newbies and pros.

Terrible exchange

Terrible exchange, since 2026 they ask for passport for EU, but when creating the account and first KYC - ID was enough. Now if you dont have a passport your funds are stuck and you can go fk yourself, support wont help you.

No login to gate.com since several days

It is not fair, that gate.com does not send verification codes anymore to login to their trading platform. The support was not able to give access after 4 days.
I assume that this is due to low liquidity during the government shutdown. Customers shall not withdraw their assets.

Holds users’ funds hostage until they pay a penalty

Gate.com froze my withdrawals without reason, claiming an old 2023 card issue handled by their Lithuanian branch (Gate UAB). My current balance came from an on-chain airdrop, not from any fiat purchase, yet they locked my account (and I'm KYCed from a long time).

After weeks of useless "compliance" messages, they finally told me that to unlock my withdrawals I had to "accept Resolution 1", meaning they would debit an extra 40 USDT from my spot balance as a so-called penalty for an ancient card dispute, otherwise my funds would stay blocked.

I eventually accepted just to recover my money, but this is not compliance, it’s extortion disguised as regulation. No serious exchange should ever condition withdrawal access on paying arbitrary "fees".

Got my assets back (minus what they stole), but I’ll obviously NEVER use Gate.com again. Their practices are abusive, their support robotic, and their compliance department acts like a ransom desk. Avoid this platform.

Edit after Gate answer (15/10/2025): Let me be very clear: the way this case was handled was completely unacceptable. Locking a user’s account for weeks over an unrelated two-year-old fiat issue, and then conditioning the release of withdrawals on a forced 40 USDT “resolution,” is not compliance, it’s coercion. I’ve kept full records of this process. No legitimate exchange should ever treat verified customers this way.

Edit #2 (17/10/2025): After posting this review, Gate.com reached out to apologize and refunded the disputed 40 USDT deduction. While I appreciate the refund, the way the situation was handled, blocking withdrawals and forcing a payment before acting, remains completely unacceptable. Trust is damaged and I'll never use their platform again.
