Lovey experience today taking jewellery down to the local hotel. Met a lovely lady called Elizabeth and she made it so easy for me, I had taken jewellery down and was pleasantly surprised with what I was offered. If you have jewellery that is just sitting around I would highly recommend taking it to Gerrards, it was so easy to do

Met with Lizzy one of the valuers who was helpful but honest about the items that I brought along.

Lizzy and Debs were great. Friendly, honest and fair throughout the visit. Can't recommend highly enough. Completely satisfied with the outcome.

Received leaflet through door decided to go along to local venue close to me.
Met Lizzy at Seamill Hydro. Seamill. She was friendly, knowledgeable and easy to talk to. Sold some jewellery and money was transferred to my bank account there and then, very efficient service.

I visited these people on June 16th whilst they were in Oban buying gold etc.

I had 31g of 9ct gold to sell (scrap value) and the buyer offered me a price which worked at approximately £31 per gram.

I declined her offer and said she’d have to do better than that.
She then rang her boss? And told him I was looking for £35 per gram which was incorrect. I was looking for the live gold price which was hovering just under the £38 per gram (9ct gold).

The offer went to £33 per gram - I declined. Then we got to £34 per gram which I accepted. My gold would have been taken home and put away and likely forgotten about thus why I took the £34 per gram.

She also said that her boss would sell it on for £37 per gram.

I then brought out some gold rings with gemstones. The buyer can’t tell without testing whether these are genuine (which they were) so she deducted a random 7g from the overall 17g weight. Which was an absolute no-no.

To anyone thinking of selling, I will say the following:

Split your jewellery into 9ct, 18ct groups.
Know the weight of what you’re selling. Go to the post office, scales there are fairly accurate.
(The Post Office scales were apparently 1g out/less than the buyers scales).
Jewellery with gemstones: sell privately.
Keep up to date with the live gold prices.
Don’t accept their first offer and don’t be afraid to speak up.

Let’s clarify a few points Lizzy.

After weighing my gold, you did not tell me the weight - I asked you what weight your scales were showing.

Accurate? The Post Office scales read 32g whereas your scales read 31g. You did not offer me £30 per gram but offered me £930. Likewise when I sold 2 items to you earlier on in the year, no mention of weight just an under value of my mothers gold.

Gold prices vary throughout the hour, I was well aware of that.

£30 was a good price to offer, said Lizzy. When the price of gold didn’t drop below £37 per gram that day. (9ct scrap gold). A good price for the buyer only.

No pressure or obligation to sell, no one mentioned there was!

The ‘decorative’ rings I took to sell were all hallmarked. One having DIA stamped. I’ve no doubt some would have been added to the ones already for sale at your shop/auction in Lytham St Anne’s.

The amethyst and diamond ring that you offered me £100 for, was streets ahead of the amethyst and clear stone ring that you had on your auction site on the 14th of June. That had an estimate £180 - £240 with a starting bid of £180. Certain my ring would’ve gone on for a £250 starting bid, had I sold to you.

The above statement is an honest reflection of what took place in the Library in Oban that day.

As mentioned, know the weight of what you are selling. Know the purity of gold. Follow the live gold prices and don’t accept their first offer, nor their second offer either.

Highly recommend Gerrards. Two lovely friendly ladies valued my things with patience. No pressure to sell. No rush. This was my 2nd time selling. Would definitely use them again. Sue x

I had some old jewellery which lay in drawer for years when I received a leaflet through door about Gerrards auction rooms.. I went along and Elizabeth weighed everything I had brought.. she was lovely and when she offered me £620 for things I would never wear I loved her even more.. if u have any jewellery you don’t wear I would highly recommend looking them up to see where they have more venues..definitely worth a visit.. I bought a print at auction which required delivery organised by Gerrards.
They sent the item immediately, it arrived by UPS exactly on the date I requested as it was a birthday present which I needed to hide! Print was very well wrapped. Customer service is excellent.

I took some items to their road trip auction and was unimpressed with the complete lack of interest on any of the items I took along.
Next day took same items to Ramsdens and got £85 more than I was offered for them by Gerrards.

Friendly efficient service, a pleasure to deal with

Attended a drop in session at my local town hall. Absolutely delighted with the service and the valuation I received which was much higher than I expected. Quick process and no pressure. Thank you very much.

Their approach was honest and straightforward. They kept me up to date throughout and made what I thought might be complicated, easy.

Met with Lizzy and Debs and immediately made to feel at ease. A quick valuation was given which was within the parameters I had been hoping for and everything was done within 10 minutes. A great service.

A leaflet from Gerrads came through the door giving dates and times for them being in Herefordshire. I visited them in Ross on Wye on 5/5/26. Their valuation was quick and acceptable to me (having had one watch previously valued by a watch expert). I accepted the offer. The whole thing took about 10 minutes.

Elizabeth provided a excellent service when in wick and I look forward to to dealing with her again

I received a very fair price from Simon for a 1930's cocktail watch from Rolex.

I met Simon in Thetford, Norfolk this week. Simon was very helpful and informative, of course I was hoping for more but he let me know why the prices were correct and I was happy with the reasons. I recommend Simon as fair and true with valuations.

Attended one of Gerrards Auction Rooms road trip sessions. The valuation was quick, and easy and valuation was very reasonable. Around what I would have expected, and way more accurate and reasonable than my experience with Hatton Gardens valuations. Both Simon and Elizabeth were very friendly and I would definitely use Gerrards again if they visited again.
