Quality, Bad Service

I purchased a $1300.00 rug. FIbers are coming from rug in one area. They will not come out and provide service. They simply said no on e else has reported this and that it must be my vacuum cleaner. If it were the vacuum cleaner it would be the entire rug. I have 4 other rugs from Wayfair and have no problem with them.

We were excited when we ordered our couches, that's where the excitement ends, delivery was supposed to be 4-6, now it's 6-8, their follow the truck is a joke, it's been at the same location since 1030 this morning, we live 10 minutes from there, what do they do, send it to hiram, then dallas, won't be buying from them again

I am writing to formally escalate an unresolved issue involving my Havertys sofa and the 5-year protection plan I purchased at the time of sale. Due to the lack of resolution and follow-up from your store, I have already submitted a formal complaint to the Better Business Bureau.

About one year after purchasing the sofa, the stitching on the side of the couch began coming apart. This was not normal wear and tear but a clear defect in materials or workmanship. I filed a warranty claim through the protection plan, but it was denied because the claim was not submitted soon enough, even though the problem developed gradually over time.

Two years later, when I returned to the Havertys Haymarket store to purchase additional furniture, I explained the situation to a sales representative. I was told the claim should not have been denied and was advised to submit it again. I followed that advice, and the claim was denied a second time.

The representative then assured me this was not right and promised that the store manager would contact me to resolve the issue. That was several weeks ago, and I have received no call, no email, and no communication of any kind.

I purchased the protection plan for peace of mind, expecting Havertys and its warranty partner to stand behind the product. Instead, I was denied coverage twice and then ignored after your own employee acknowledged that something was wrong. That is why I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

I am requesting that Havertys review this matter and provide a fair resolution, such as repair, replacement, or reimbursement related to the defective stitching. I also expect an explanation for the lack of response from the Haymarket store manager.

I would prefer to resolve this matter directly with Havertys, but I am prepared to continue pursuing it through the BBB if necessary.

Lisa Thiessen Haverty’s Interior Design Expert

I chose Haverty’s because Lisa Thiessen Haverty’s Interior Design Expert was highly recommended by one of her recent customers. She is very patient and great to work with. Lisa offered to come to my home to assess my current home decor and to provide options that would best fit my lifestyle and space.
The 3D software she used was a tremendous help to visualize her custom design plan and how it would look in my home. She also gave me some ideas for accent décor such as artwork and fluted wallscape planters, ideas that I would not have envisioned on my own.
Her expertise, vision and creative talent gave me great confidence with my purchase of a loveseat, rug and coffee table for my living room. Lisa made sure the loveseat I chose was an appropriate fit for my challenging home interior. In addition, I purchased a rug and coffee table that I never would have bought if she hadn’t included it in the custom design that she created for me. It was a great experience.

Disappointed and Frustrated

Disappointed and Frustrated — Not the Quality or Service We Expected

We walked into the store and had a great experience with the salesperson. We found what we thought was the perfect dining room set for our home and were told it was in stock, with delivery scheduled for that Thursday.

On delivery day, we received a call informing us that two chairs didn’t meet their quality standards. While disappointing, we appreciated the honesty. We were told the buffet was available earlier than expected, so we agreed to reschedule and have everything delivered together the following week.

That delivery was over 90 minutes late. Worse, the team nearly damaged our mid-century curio cabinet by carelessly leaning the table extension against its glass. One of the chairs they did bring was broken.

Fast forward to today — another call, another chair that didn’t meet quality standards. At this point, it’s beyond frustrating. For a company that prides itself on quality, the repeated delays and damaged items tell a different story.

Today’s delivery was on time, but the buffet arrived with damage to the marble top. One delivery person ran into our curio cabinet again and quickly left. Thankfully, the other gentleman remained professional, attempted to clean the piece, and documented the damage.

This entire experience has made us seriously question Havertys’ standards. For the price we paid, this has been nothing short of a nightmare. We’re now considering returning the entire set and starting over with another company.

Bottom line: The initial in-store experience was promising, but the follow-through has been unacceptable. I would not recommend Havertys to anyone. The quality and service simply don’t match the price — not even close!

Havertys delivery sucks big time

Havertys delivery sucks big time. With all the things I bought ther they have never ever delivered the items on time EVER! Late late late. Like you don’t matter. Only their time matters. Done with Havertys

What started out to be a pleasant…

What started out to be a pleasant experience turned into an exhausting mess. They botched our total. They left off some discounts they promised us. I had one phone call with them where they outlined everything they were going to adjust. Shortly after the many versions of the new bill started to show up. Each one contained errors that boggled the mind. I honestly don’t know if they are that dense or we’re trying snow me. After several emails, it was done.
It took the better part of a week to get them to start to adjust it. I had to threaten to cancel the order to get them to reach out. I moved the delivery date I originally had because I didn’t want to take delivery with it unsettled.
Unprofessional is a kind word for the mess we endured.

Avoid Havertys if you value your time and sanity!”

“ Worst delivery and response I’ve ever experienced. After 3 attempts to deliver a dresser, I’m beyond frustrated.

1st delivery: I waited all day only to have the dresser arrive damaged.

After a 3-week wait, the 2nd delivery was another disaster. I waited all day again, only to get a call at 6:15 PM saying the replacement dresser was broken.

Then, 2 weeks later, the 3rd attempt was an even bigger joke. The driver didn’t show up. At 6:40 PM, I got a call saying he needed 45 minutes to arrive—after I had waited all day!

When I spoke to the manager at the Pineville, NC store, the best they could do was schedule another attempt 2 weeks out, with no guarantee of a daytime delivery. I asked to cancel the order and have them pick up the damaged piece.

A few minutes later, I got a call saying they could pick up the damaged dresser in 2 days but couldn’t deliver a replacement until mid-December. Where’s the logic in that?

This has been an absolutely unbelievable customer service experience. For a company that calls itself customer-focused, this is unacceptable. Rest assured, this review will be posted on social media as well.

A Great Experience

I purchased a recliner, loveseat, rug, and rug pad on June 7, 2024 at the Glenwood Avenue Havertys Store in Raleigh, NC. When I arrived at the store, Shalini Nagpal (Sonia), greeted me and asked if she could help. I shared with her what I wanted to purchase and showed her pictures of my space. She showed me several options. Once I settled on the furniture, Sonia worked with me to coordinate a rug with the furniture. She also arranged for financing and delivery which was on June 22. The two young men who delivered the furniture, were polite and professional.

Poor quality

Bought a store floor display sofa. We were made aware that it was non-refundable but it was fine because it was good value for the price. However, we put the sofa covers in the washing machine and it came out all ripped. None of the other stuff in the laundry got damaged. Must have been really old stuff or damaged product.

Arlington Entertainment Console

I purchased a console and have tried on various platforms (iPad, PC, iPhone) to leave a negative review at the Havertys website, but it won't let me! So, I'm seeking other locations where I can give an honest review of my purchase. The console has a strong chemical smell and has been off gassing for weeks. One door doesn't latch. People need to be aware of the smell in case they don't have a way to dissipate the smell. We've been keeping windows open and running an air filter.

Poor customer relations…

Have been a customer for years made multiple purchases which were always paid off on time or early. A few day ago we were looking to purchase additional furniture only to find our credit card had been canceled. Now we understand if you don't use your credit card for an extended period companies will close your account but that wasn't the case at all. We actually just paid off the card about 6 months ago. Also, the fact they made mention of the decision was made based on credit report which it also false because shows we are in good standing with all creditors without one late payment and never been late. Though a 10k purchase is just a drop in the bucket to the company as a whole but you lost a customer that exclusively shopped a Havertys for our furniture needs.

Salesperson lied

Salesperson lied and promised delivery on item purchased would be within 4 weeks. I called today, 3 days from the 4 week date, and was told that the order had been delayed and would not be delivered for another 20 days. Totally unacceptable, as the sofa was purchased for Christmas entertaining. Customer service was a joke - offered only to credit the delivery fee. They keep my money for 2 months without providing any goods and think that's acceptable?? Canceled the order and was told it would take another week for the credit to hit my card.

A destination place for me!

Quality is #1 in Havertys furniture and Service is tied at #1! I continue to shop for my furniture at Havertys because of the people and furniture that is made for a lifetime.
My Louis Auguste Moreau (French, 1855–1919) bronze "Bucheronne" is magnified by the "Sands of Time" wall art I purchased from Haverty's.
Havertys is a destination place for me!

Haverty's pushes expensive USELESS warranty

Haverty's pushes the Guardsman warranty KNOWING the warranty is pretty much useless. It's a scam and if Haverty's had any integrity they would stop pushing Guardsman and work with a different company. DO NOT BUY THIS WARRANTY!!! My recliner stopped working, in the reclined position, around the first of June 2023. I filed a claim on June 7, 2023. The service rep showed up a couple of weeks later and said I need a new motor. He ordered it right then. After a month I called to get the status and was told the part was never ordered. They ordered it then and told me to notify them when the part showed up. It is now October 4th and my chair is still not fixed and the part has never shown up. 4 months with a recliner stuck in the reclined position. A birthday party, a gender reveal party, company for a week, and several guests over the summer with a broken chair. Their customer service is horrible and the warranty is useless. Don’t waste your money.

Dissatisfied Customer

I purchased a sectional from Haverty's on August 5th, 2021. I purchased the extended warranty for 3 years.
I have put in a claim in April 2023 for the motor on one part of my sectional to be repaired. Today is September 19th and I still have not received the part nor has my recliner been repaired. It's been 5 months and my warranty is for three years which will expire soon. This is absolutely absurd and unexceptional and ridiculous to have spent money for the warranty and yet I can't get service from the Guardsman Warranty Dept. in 5-6 months.
I purchased my sectional from Haverty's at Lakeline. The extended warranty insurance was purchased with Guardsman. I have called numerous times to Guardsman @800-482-7340 & 888-428-3789 & 800-285-0080 and yet I have not heard anymore from them. I have called Haverty's @ 512-257-9803 and spoke to manager's and supervisor's at the store trying to expedite the situation and I still have not received the part to repair my sectional. The sectional has been in a reclined position and stuck out presenting a safety and hazardous situation in my home. I am a disabled senior and I have young grandchildren, who often visits me and that really has become a hazardous and dangerous situation for me and my family.
I am absolutely dissatisfied with the Guardsman Warranty Claims Dept. and I have spent far too much time and money not to receive better service from them.

Delivery experience terrible

Delivery experience terrible. Purchased a bed and desk in early June scheduled for a July 1 delivery. The delivery was missed and received a phone call stating earliest deliver will been the next friday.

So now a disabled Vet daughter has to sleep on the floor because of Haverty failure.

Rigid Policies and Indifference to Customer's Concerns

Havertys have a very rigid return policy, they do not even agree to cancel warranty for furniture that has been delivered for few days and no claim made. Their warranty excludes everything that could go wrong with the furniture, it is worthless. The Sofa I bought is sinking in the middle and the expert they sent to inspect is not sure if it can be fixed but will try. I am waiting for their action. I cancelled the remainder of my order due to their inflexible return policy and their indifference to my concerns. They could have had more of my business had they shown they care, but their attitude is we got your money so we don't care anymore. Very short sighted policy. Never again.
