Like the saying goes, you get what you pay for and we appreciate in these tough times there are other choices you can make for your charcoal. Buying British though not only secures you the best charcoal there is, but it is incredibly efficient so a little goes a long way. There is also the painstaking work that goes into sourcing truly sustainable hardwoods from our british woodlands and the meticulous production process that makes a high carbon level, pure and natural charcoal.

This delivers a beautiful charcoal that is pure, 100% natural, totally sustainable and the very best you can cook with. The bags brim with charcoal given its lightness and lack of chemicals, plus high carbon level charcoal is light in weight so you get more in the bag.

Lots to take in there but in essence, british charcoal is reassuringly expensive so you are safe in the knowledge you are cooking with the best, your food will taste like it should and also you are advocating a truly sustainable product that is not destroying ancient rainforests or mangroves (shudder) or sad to say, slavery.

Did you know that 10% of work slavery is involved in charcoal making (WHO 2024). Something we should be very aware of.

On your delivery experience we will look into that. We work with our partners because we want the experience to be as good as possible and anything short of that is unacceptable. Please accept our apologies if this was shoddy as you describe, and we will feed this back to ensure it does not happen again.

British charcoal is by far the best you can cook with and advocates like your good self will only strengthen our mission to cook with the best (and also reduce the demand on the poor quality, chemically soaked imported stuff that only encourages deforestation and sadly, slavery).

The British charcoal we sell is indeed great and thank you for supporting our cause and buying British grown and made. It makes a huge difference to change the UK's buying habits for charcoal and protect our British forests one bag at a time!
