We had a monitored (by an Alarm Receiving Centre) Texecom intruder and fire detection alarm installed by Kings & Barnhams in a new build (builder Norfolk Homes Ltd). We have now ascertained that the fire detection element of the system , comprising 10 Texecom sensorssounders does not comply with Building Regulations Approved Part B. To comply with the Building Regs it would need to be powered by a dedicated circuit at the Consumer Unit (fuse board). It would need specific cabling to comply with the Building Regs . All could have been achieved when installed. K&B did not at any point in time when designing the system advise that it would not be capable of complying with approved Part B. If the fire detection system wasn't going to comply with approved Part B that should have been made explicit when the system was designed. In that case I would not have ordered this system. By contrast the normal hard -wired interlinked detector /sensor system (not monitored by an Alarm Receiving Centre) normally provided by Norfolk Homes is fully compliant . For their system Norfolk Homes produces a certificate of compliance and the fire detection system is on a dedicated radial circuit compliant with approved document part B .
When we had the K&B system independently examined it came to light that their fire detection system was missing 2 detectors in critical areas outside a bedroom on a second floor and they had overlooked the need to have a sensor outside a 3rd floor bedroom. Eventually they accepted these omissions and installed the necessary sensors free of charge. That was OK but what a basic mistake to make in the first place! Doesn't give a feeling of confidence

Efficient, always polite technicians. Annual / bi-annual servicing guys are polite and quick.
Accounts department is fast and efficient.
If alarm goes off while away, response time is fast and efficient.

Potentially complex problem with added complication of holiday rental property so a need to respect and not inconvenience the guests. Booking was simple and some additional requests cheerfully accepted and then fulfilled.

Matthew knowledgable and immensely reassuring. Fixed and fully checked in no time with no disruption. I cannot recommend highly enough.

Our alarm service with K&B was excellent. Arrival on time, efficient and friendly service and we were left feeling positive about our experience.

Called out of hours and spoke to Matthew. Came onto farm within the hour and helped us set up a generator to work a borehole so that our animals all had water on a very hot day.

Caution ⚠️ Have just had a awful experience returning a damaged
microwave to kings @holt. Brought it less than a month ago and the glass from the door had almost fell out.
So took it back to the holt shop looking to exchange for a better model,but was told I need to go back to the manufacturer directly. After an unpleasant conversation and quite a while, they did eventually give a refund. This has made me so disappointed as over the years I have used them for so many things, wanting to stay local however after this experience I won't be using them again.

This is the first time we have used them and it was an emergency situation. Mathew came assessed diagnosed problem and solved it everything back to working order Thankyou so much Matthew we are very impressed with the service .

Kings & Barnhams have been on 2 separate occasions to deal with issues with garden lights installed by someone else.

Matthew attended an emergency call out at midnight to our property after we had lost all power. He knew exactly what the problem was and promptly fixed it. We were very grateful and would like to thank him again for his excellent service.

With an alarm sounding extremely loudly we were able to contact the on call engineer Stephen Moore . He analysed and explained the fault and gave instructions over the phone to put the system on standby which was a blessed relief.
On arrival he checked the faulty sensor which was replaced.
Excellent service on a Sunday afternoon.

We needed an electric car charge point installing and Kings and Barnhams did a superb job. My initial enquiry was handled very professionally and their quote was competitive. The installation was planned for the exact date that I wanted and the installation team (Steven and Mylo) arrived precisely on time. Their work was of a very high standard, the installation is very neat and tidy and we are very happy with the final installation.

When I made an enquiry, Kings and Barnhams sent an engineer out the following day. The service was fantastic. Everything was explained to me. Matthew was polite, clear and very efficient. I couldn't recommend them enough. Very impressed.

The day after my wife passed away we awoke to water pouring through the bathroom and landing ceiling, we had a burst water pipe. After shutting it off we realized all the power was off. For the emergency plumber it was a simple fix. However for the emergency electrician a nightmare as every circuit had to be checked and isolated. Matthew was both efficient and understanding of our situation and worked solidly to resolve the problems. I cannot stress how much I appreciated his help

10mm2 steel wire armour install for garden sauna performed superbly by Matthew. Extremely professional and courteous, left the area cleaner than when he arrived and cannot even see any sign of work in the utility room where consumer unit is. Highly recommended for great service, standards and friendly engineers. Well done !
